Hey guys! So, I am finally back with an update and I want to let y'all know right now, that for the most part this chapter is a filler until we get to the end! Hopefully, y'all will like it!
Enjoy!
Later that day, Caroline was sitting at one of the tables in the university cafe, enjoying a caramel macchiato when she looked up and spotted Aiden coming her way.
A smile easily came to her lips as she motioned for him to come over and he did with a lopsided grin on his lips.
"Caroline," he said as he took a seat beside her and gave her a peck on the cheek.
"Hey, Aiden," she said as a wide smile appeared on her lips. "How was class?" The blonde wondered, the curiosity evident in her voice.
"Pretty good, actually." He told her. "But as much as I love the classes that I am taking this semester, I would love it if we could just talk about anything and everything." Aiden said as he clasped her hands in his own.
"Sounds good," she smiled. "Really good, actually." The blonde added as an afterthought as she felt herself truly smile ever since the whole situation with Tyler.
"Great!" He said. "Now before we get to the conversational part, can I get you something to eat with the macchiato of yours?" He questioned motioning towards the Starbucks that wasn't too far away.
"Oh, no. Don't worry about me. I am quite good." She reassured him.
"If you're sure," he responded before he stood up. "I'll be back in a jiffy!" Aiden told her.
Smiling after him, the blonde rested the side of her face on her palm and her eyes lit up as she watched after Aiden's movements.
"Having fun?" An accented voice drawled.
Snapping out of her reverie, she turned to the sound of that voice and her breath hitched in her throat.
"You," she said as her eyes narrowed into identical slits.
"Me," he nodded. "So, are you having fun with that nerd?" Klaus questioned motioning towards Aiden who was currently speaking to the barista and smiling at her genuinely.
"That nerd happens to have a name." Caroline responded as her hands clenched into fists.
"Yeah, I know his name. His name is Ethan or some shit like that."
"His name is Aiden and I don't know why you are even here in the first place."
"Well, I was passing through and I saw you, so I thought to myself... Why not go on in and say hello to a friend?"
"We are not friends." Caroline told him, her voice taking on a serious tone.
"Aren't we, though? I mean, you changed your physical appearance just to prove me wrong... In my book, that says that we are very good friends."
"Obviously, your book is full of shit and you have to go because I have a date to get back to with a guy that I can actually stand."
"You wound me!" He cried out as he put his hand to his heart and let out a little sniffle.
"Good," she said before she kicked him under the table.
"Damn, girl." He smirked. "You really are a feisty little chick."
"That's good of you to figure out, Klaus. Now, get the fuck out of my face before I make you."
"You know, I'm almost tempted to see what it is that you're going to do in order to make me go, but I'm just going to go because you asked so nicely." He told her sarcastically as he stood up and smiled at her innocently.
"Uh huh," she said as she shooed him away with a move of her hand and a glare that could kill.
As Klaus walked away from the blonde that seemed to have found her backbone, he looked around the cafe before his eyes landed on Caroline's current crush.
Making his way over to Caroline's new boy toy, he moved in front of him, stopping the other in his tracks.
"Oh, pardon me." He said as he tried to sidestep Klaus without any success.
"You're with Caroline?" Klaus questioned as he eyed Aiden up and down with a sneer on his face.
"What's it to you?" Aiden questioned, the confusion evident in his voice.
"Oh, you know... Just an old friend wanting to make sure that your intentions with her are innocent."
"You want to know if my intentions are innocent? Last time I checked, you were the one that was going to use Caroline to win some idiotic competition."
"Listen, pup." Klaus ordered. "You know nothing about me, so let's keep your thoughts to a minimum, shall we?" The Brit offered as his stormy blue-gray eyes narrowed into slits.
"Truth hurts, then?" Aiden questioned as a smirk appeared on his otherwise angelic face.
"Say another word and I'll escort you outside where we can settle things like true men." Klaus declared, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Like true men? Please don't make me laugh... You may be the star quarterback of Michigan State, but in reality you're less of a man than a mere boy."
"And the boy has a mouth on him." Klaus announced as he clapped his hands together. "But do heed my warning unless of course you're dumb enough not too." He shrugged as if he was speaking to a petulant child.
"Your warning? And what warning is that, pray tell?" Aiden questioned, looking directly into the other's face.
"Is everything alright here?" A voice said from behind them and the two quickly turned around only to see the subject of their discussion standing there with her hands on her hips.
"Perfect," Klaus answered, smiling down at the blonde with a mischievous look in his stormy eyes.
"Aiden, is he bothering you?" Caroline wondered as she went to his side and put her hand on his arm gently as she smiled up at him brilliantly.
"Nope," Aiden shook his head. "We were just getting acquainted and now that we are, I believe we have a date to get back to."
"We do," she agreed as she looked over at Klaus with a dark expression in her usually bright blue eyes. "Now if you'll excuse us, Niklaus, we'll get out of your hair."
"Sure," he said, giving her a tight smile before he threw one last dark look at Aiden.
"What a jerk," Aiden said as he shook his head with irritation and bit down on his bottom lip.
"Don't even waste your time on him, Aiden. Trust me when I tell you that he is so not worth the calories we would spend even thinking about him."
"Will do," Aiden smiled as he put his arm around her shoulder. "Is this okay?" He wondered, looking down at her with a sort of nervousness on his face.
"Perfect," she sighed with a content smile on her face.
Smiling down at her, he brought her closer to his side and the two made there way out of the coffee shop in order to start their walk around campus that would count as their first date.
Once back at the fraternity house, Klaus made his way up the stairs and into Stefan's room with a sour expression on his usually relaxed face. He hated to admit it, but the blonde was getting to him and she was getting to him quicker than he himself thought possible.
"Can I help you?" The younger Salvatore questioned as he looked over at him with confusion in his forest green eyes.
"Caroline is dating a new guy." Klaus announced as he sat down on the chair with a thump and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Okay...?" Stefan said as he shrugged. "I don't see why her dating life should concern her considering that you wanted to hurt her."
"It was a joke, Stefan." Klaus argued. "Get the bloody hell over it and tell me what I can do to gain her attention."
"Nothing at all." Stefan said. "I told you to leave her alone and I do expect you to follow through with that, so if you would be so kind, close the door behind you."
"I am not going to leave her alone." Klaus said as his hands clenched into fists. "You damn well better tell me what I can do or I'll woo whatever girl you're currently interested in."
"The girls that I am interested in are smart girls, Klaus... And let's be real here, no girl in her right mind would ever go for you with your baggage and high level of immaturity."
"As a matter of fact, there are many women that want me, so that is where you are wrong." Klaus replied as he shrugged.
"Yeah, well I'm going to go right ahead and assume that the women you speak of don't really have much of an intelligence factor to begin with, so they don't count. And anyway, go for one of those girls then... Leave Caroline be."
"Why?" Klaus questioned, the annoyance evident in his voice.
"Because she has been through enough as it is and if she has given this guy a chance, he's worth more than you are."
"We'll see." Klaus said. "You're wrong in your assumption and I'll happily shove it in your face when the right time comes."
"Yeah, okay." Stefan said as he waved in the Brit's direction with a smirk on his face.
Narrowing his eyes at the other man, Klaus walked out of the bedroom and into his own. After all, he needed to think of something that he could do in order to woo the lady in question...
Smiling brightly, Caroline skipped into her dorm room and made her way over to Katherine before she gave her a hug.
"Are you feeling feverish, doll?" Katherine asked as she awkwardly patted her best friend on the back.
"I'm feeling perfect." Caroline replied as she exhaled a dreamy sigh and clapped her hands together.
Skipping towards her bed, she plopped down with a content sigh and put her hands behind her head.
"I'm guessing your date with Aiden went well?"
"It was perfect," Caroline admitted as her smile widened even more. "I wasn't sure that we would have anything in common, but it seems like we do! And also, I have to tell you that he is the perfect kisser."
"You kissed!?" Katherine cried out as she put her hand over her mouth and plopped down beside her. "How was it? Did y'all use tongue? Was it a peck? Did y'all go any farther?"
"Relax, relax." Caroline urged. "And to answer all those questions you dumped on my poor self, the kiss was wonderful, we had a little tongue action, not really a peck but it wasn't a full out make out session either, and no we just kissed."
"Oh, Care." Katherine said. "I am so so happy for you and I can finally breathe easy knowing that you have moved on from what you experienced back in Mystic Falls."
Nodding solemnly, Caroline agreed before a sigh escaped her lips.
"I loved him, you know." Caroline told her. "He may have not been my first, but I loved him."
"I know that." Katherine told her. "I could see it in your eyes and for the life of me I don't know why he did what he did. The whole of Mystic Falls was certain that the two of you would marry, but I'm happy that you found out what an asshole he is before you tied yourself to him."
"Likewise," the blonde agreed. "But Tyler is in my past and I would appreciate it if we kept it that way. After all, I am not about to allow the memory of that day to surface on a day when I am finally feeling like my old self."
"Sounds good," Katherine smiled as they may side by side.
"Want to watch some One Tree Hill?" Caroline questioned as she turned on the television and began typing in her Netflix information.
"Yes, oh my god!" Katherine cried out as she clapped her hands together.
Laughing, Caroline turned on the episode that they were currently on and the two relaxed as they watched the show unfold.
He got out of the car and made his way into the little shop located near the gas station. Entering the store, his eyes landed on a bandana and a smirk appeared on his lips.
Moving towards the bandana, he removed it from its place and made his way around the aisles choosing a number of different objects.
Then, once he had everything that he needed for the remainder of the journey, he walked over to the cash register.
"Good evening, sir." The older lady behind the counter said, giving him a kind smile.
Pasting a smile on his face, he nodded in her direction and the women began ringing up the items.
"Going to have a barbecue?" The woman asked as she looked down at the can of gas with an interested expression on her face.
"Something like that," he responded, keeping his tone light as his brown eyes darkened to a shade of onyx.
"Enjoy, then." She told him as she put the different items in the bag and he handed her the money owed.
"Thank you," he said as he reached for the bag and crossed his arms over his broad chest. "Do you happen to know how many more miles are left before I get to the Michigan State University?"
Giving him a precise estimation, he nodded once more before he disappeared into the dark night.
Once settled in his car, a malicious smile appeared on his lips and he chuckled.
"Revenge is sweet." He simply said, ready to face the woman that ruined his life.
There you have it! And I'm hoping y'all guessed who the character is :) I can tell y'all now that there will definitely be action in the coming chapters, so please do get ready for it. And I'm thinking about whether I should have Aiden be the good guy with no agenda or the revenge seeker's accomplice... We shall see ;)
