Hey guys! So, I am back with the next chapter and hope you all enjoy it!

Before I leave y'all to read, I would like to answer one particular review that is pasted below:

Review: Why would you give a snickers or any kind of sugar to an unconscious person? He knew she got unconscious because of traumatic event and not because of hypoglycemia and even if she had hypoglycemia you wouldn't be able to give her any kind of food or drink because she wouldn't be able to swallow.

Answer: Oh, I actually didn't know about that but anytime my siblings or me get scared, our parents would give us a cube of sugar… We never passed out, but still I thought that if Caroline fainted then she needed something sweet. Okay, though, I'm sorry for the mistake.

Now, please enjoy and do forgive me for any mistakes that I may have. I may be going for the medical field, but am only a sophmore undergrad, hence the reason for my not knowing absolutely everything (I don't think that's possible, lmao)

A little while later, just as Klaus was making a sandwich for the blonde, Elijah and Katherine came in.

"Caroline!" Katherine cried out as she ran towards her best friend before she embraced her tightly.

"Kat," the blonde sighed as she returned her embrace.

"How are you? Are you alright? I am so sorry that you had to go through that."

"I'm doing okay, I guess." She answered honestly. "I'm still a bit shaken up, but Klaus has been trying to keep my mind off of what occurred."

"Has he been good to you? If not, I promise to hang him by the balls." Katherine warned as she shot the man in question a glare.

"He's been the perfect gentleman." Caroline laughed aloud as she watched the expression on Klaus's face.

"Has he?" Elijah wondered, looking over at his brother with a curious expression on his face.

"Yep," she quipped as she took a sip of water from her glass.

"Very good," Elijah nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Now, Niklaus… Will you please follow me to the other room as the ladies catch up?"

"If you're going to tell him about Tyler, then I have a right to know as well." Caroline announced as her eyes narrowed, looking between her best friend and Elijah.

"Caroline, don't worry about it. Tyler will no longer bother anybody."

"That's reassuring, but still. I want to know everything that occurred."

"Care," Katherine shook her head, biting down on her bottom lip worriedly.

"Tell me," Caroline ordered as she crossed her arms over her chest. When Katherine made no move to speak up, Caroline stood up with a frown on her lips. "Now," she added.

"Fine," the brunette sighed as Elijah put his arm around her in a show of support.

"When the campus police arrived, they asked us what occurred and we told them as best we could, but they still want to speak to you."

"Done," she nodded. "Now, what did they do with Tyler?"

"They took him away and told us that the county police would take it from here."

"Was he awake when they took him?" Caroline questioned, genuinely curious.

"He-" her voice cracked, unable to say anything else.

"Caroline, he swore that when he was released he would finish what he tried to start." Elijah told her and the blonde nodded numbly.

"Okay," she said before she swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat. "Thank you for telling me." She whispered before she walked away from the trio and made her way up the stairs and into Klaus's bedroom.

Hearing footsteps behind her, she knew that it was Klaus and turned in his direction with tears in her eyes.

"Caroline, I won't let him hurt you again." He told her as he wrapped his arms around her and she sniffled.

"What if he does?" She asked him, but before he could answer Stefan appeared and gave Klaus a dirty look.

"Take your hands off of her, Mikaelson. You may have protected her, but that doesn't make you her savior." Stefan announced and Klaus took a step back.

"Stefan," Caroline said. "You didn't have to be so rude." She chided and he looked over at her with confusion in his forest green eyes.

"Are you actually protecting this jackass?" Stefan questioned, confused at his friend's behavior.

"Stefan, I'm not in the mood to argue you with you. You're my best friend and I love you, so I need you to listen when I tell you that Klaus has apologized profusely for what occurred a couple of weeks ago."

"Fine," he sighed, looking over at the Brit apologetically. "Now, Caroline I'm so sorry for what you had to go through. That wasn't fair at all."

"Tyler is- I just don't want to talk about him with you." Caroline announced. "Can we please just drop it?"

"Of course," he nodded immediately. "Whatever you want, Care."

"Thank you," she sighed as she took a seat on the edge of the bed. "And I believe I've imposed enough, so thank you again, Klaus. I'll see you around."

"Caroline," he said as he put a gentle hand on her wrist. "Stay here for the night. I'll crash on the couch."

"But, Katherine…" She started.

"I think Katherine may want to stay with Elijah for the night, so she won't mind."

"How about you? That couch of yours doesn't look very comfortable." She stated, looking towards the couch that was pushed up against the other side of the wall.

"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me," he shook his head and Caroline nodded before she got into the bed and tucked herself in.

As soon as her head hit the pillow, she was fast asleep and the two men looked at one another.

"Thank you," Stefan told him before he nodded and made his way out of the bedroom.

Looking over at the blonde that slept under his covers, he sighed before he laid down on the couch and pulled the blanket over himself.

Though Klaus didn't know if his friendship with Caroline would last, he would make sure to protect her no matter what. No woman deserved to go through what she did and at that moment Klaus swore to himself that he would treat women better…

That morning, Klaus awoke before Caroline did and as he watched her sleep, he felt the need to sketch her in all her natural beauty.

Grabbing his sketch pad that he never kept far from his person, he bit down on the pencil as he determined in which setting he would draw her.

Of course, he could draw her just as she was at the moment- laying with her eyes closed and her hands tucked under her chin, but there was something exotic about her…

As an idea struck, he quickly began sketching her outline as well as the landscape that he had in mind.

About an hour later, just as the blonde was beginning to wake, he finished. Looking down at the finished product, he smiled in contentment.

After all, Caroline looked beautiful and that made him feel like more of an asshole for even thinking that she was anything less than magnificent.

With a sigh, he waited for her to awake and as her eyes drifted open, one of his fraternity brothers entered.

"Score!" His frat brother said aloud as he pumped his fist and watched Caroline with male interest.

"Walk away, Todd." Klaus ordered as he stood up and clenched his hands into fists.

"Oh, come on. I'm admiring your ability to score such a hottie."

"Todd, if you were smart you would walk away right now. I will not be responsible for my next move considering that I warned you."

"Fine, fine." He huffed in annoyance. "I don't understand why you're so protective of the chic, but fine. I'll walk away," Todd sighed before he turned on his heel.

"Thank you," he heard Caroline say from the bed.

Looking in her direction, he smiled and gave her a nod.

"Like I said, we're friends now and I make sure to protect my friends."

"Good to know," she smiled as she looked at his sketch pad curiously. "Were you sketching?"

"As a matter of fact, I was." He nodded as he went over to the bed and sat on the edge.

Moving over to him, she peeked over his shoulder and gasped at the sight.

"Is- is that me?" She wondered, the disbelief evident in her voice.

"Yes," he nodded. "But this is just a first draft. I'll make it perfection."

"It's already perfect," she reassured him as she took the sketch pad from his hand and traced the outline of her face as well as the beautiful spring landscape.

"To me, this represents a new beginning for you, Caroline. One where you do not have to worry about getting hurt by anyone."

"It's beautiful," she sighed. "I would have never guessed your true self." She realized, thinking out loud.

"I don't show this side of myself to any people." He shrugged.

"Well you should," she whispered, her attention ensnared by the sketch.

Five Years Later:

Klaus and Caroline made their way into their new apartment and the blonde shrieked excitedly as she clapped her hands together.

"This place is fantastic!" She cried out as she looked over at her best friend of five years before wrapping her arms around him.

"It is, isn't it?" He questioned as the view from their window captured his attention.

Making his way over to the floor-to-ceiling window, he looked out onto the big apple with great interest.

"Who would have thought we would have ended up in New York City?" Caroline asked as she removed her leather jacket and put her hair up in a messy bun.

"Definitely not me," Klaus laughed. "After all, I am opening my very own gallery while you are working for one of the top designers of the year."

"Life is good, isn't it?" She asked him as she rested her hand on his arm.

"Yep," he nodded. "Except I always imagined that I would have been a professional football player."

"And you could have been, but you turned it down. Why, I have no idea, but I can honestly tell you that I'm happy to have you here."

"And I am happy to have you here." He smiled as he wrapped his arms around her.

Moving towards the leather couch, the two collapsed onto it before they sighed.

"Five years ago, I would have never thought that I would have been so lucky to have you as my friend, but look at us now. We're inseparable and the only ones from Michigan State that settled here." He realized.

"Well Elijah has his job as a professor and Katherine is just starting off as a history professor so their life is set. And with the little one on the way, they surely couldn't make the move." Caroline stated.

"Stefan and Rebekah are traveling the world while Kol and Bonnie are trying to make their band known in Los Angeles." Klaus added, thinking about his siblings.

"And here we are," the blonde announced as she graced him with one of her signature smiles.

"Here we are," he agreed as he looked over at her as if she was the most important thing in the world.

"Guess what!" Caroline cried out happily. "Aiden is here on business and wants to get some coffee with me. Do you think I should go?" She wondered as she clenched and unclenched her hands nervously.

"Aiden? As in the Aiden from half a decade ago?" Klaus questioned as he thought about the guy that Caroline was with for a short while.

"That same one," she chirped. "And you know you can just say the one from five years ago." She added as an afterthought, a smile playing on her lips.

"Perhaps," he replied. "I didn't know that you were still in contact with him, actually. Which is why I am a little surprised." He clarified.

"Oh, yeah… I don't know- about a year ago he called me and we've been talking ever since."

"So, what you're telling me is that you're serious with this guy?"

"I wouldn't say serious because it's not like we spoke on a daily basis or even a weekly basis. Every month or two we talked to one another, but since he's going to be in New York, I thought it would be a good idea."

"If you think that then by all means go out with him. I mean, you haven't been a relationship for five years now." He reminded her.

"You're right," she agreed, a sigh escaping her lips. "So, yes… I think I'm going to accept his invite and maybe it'll lead to something." She shrugged.

"Exactly," he nodded.

With a large smile on her lips, Caroline gave him a hug and stood up.

"You're one of the greatest friends I've ever had." She told him before she skipped into her bedroom.

When Klaus was alone, he sighed as he bit down on his bottom lip.

And here I thought, I could finally confess the feelings that I have for her, he thought.

There you have it! So, from now on the story will be taking place in the five years later, but I'll try and think of some flashbacks as I go on. I should have written an outline for this fanfic, but as per usual I never do. Oh well :/

Aiden may or may not be a very good guy...
