Hello, my lovelies! I know that I am probably the worst updater in the history of writers, but I truly have been busy with real life. Two jobs, full time school, applying to my program (I got in! Future RN here). But I am going to try to update more often, I really will. I have truly missed writing so much, I cannot even.
Trigger warnings: physical abuse, talk of rape, helplessness...
This chapter is a bit on the darker side, but I hope you lovelies will still enjoy it. Thank you so much for bearing with me :)
Caroline's eyes slowly opened and she looked around the darkened room with confusion in her eyes. Where was she and why did she feel so out of it?
Surely, she hadn't gone home and taken a nap with Klaus in such a state.
"Oh god," she said aloud as the memories of what had happened rushed back to her.
She had left the hospital and had returned to the apartment. Tyler was already waiting for her and one minute they were talking and the next she had fallen into oblivion.
Of course this is what she wanted to happen. She wanted Tyler to find her because she wanted to stop him from ruining her life.
However, she hadn't expected this and now she had no idea what it is that she could.
Caroline noticed that she was lying on the bed and slowly sat up and threw her legs over the mattress. Her feet touched the cold floor and she shivered.
Wrapping her hands around herself, she stood up and noticed that there was a light coming from outside of the bedroom.
Instead of going directly to the door, she decided to try the window, but unfortunately it was locked and wasn't about to budge.
"Wakey, wakey…" The voice that she hated so much said as he unlocked the bedroom door and entered.
Then he turned on the lights and the savage look in his eyes had her stopping in her tracks. He looked crazed and the blonde hated to admit it, but she truly feared for her life at that moment.
"You look adorable, kitten." He said as he slowly approached her with a smirk on his lips.
"Caroline," she answered back, realizing that there was no way in hell that she would willingly allow the son of a bitch to have the satisfaction of seeing her scared for her life.
"Caroline," he repeated and closed the distance between them.
He placed his hand on her wrist and pulled her to him. The smell of alcohol assailed her and she tried moving away from him, but he grabbed the back of her head with his other hand.
"I don't think I let you go anywhere." He announced as he pulled her to his chest.
The feel of his front against her front had her wanting to vomit, but there was no way that she could pull away from him.
Years ago, she had actually believed that their relationship could turn into love, but she quickly understood that wouldn't be the case when he released the tape of them.
All of Mystic Falls had seen that tape and her life had been ruined. Something so private and yes, beautiful had turned into something awful. The names that she had been called and the direct cuts that individuals that she grew up with had given her had broken her heart.
After that, she had decided to start anew and thought that she could do that in Michigan State, but he had found her there and had wanted to force himself on her.
Just the memory of that awful night five years ago had tears coming to her eyes, but she quickly blinked them away.
She would absolutely not give him the satisfaction of seeing that those memories still plagued her. She had moved on and she was fairly certain that Nik was the man she would end up with. They would have a happy life, but in order for that to come to fruition, she had to stop Tyler once and for all. Otherwise, the life that she wanted would never be the life that she would have…
"You've suddenly gone awfully quiet, kitten. Is there a problem?" Tyler asked, sounding as if he cared when in reality he did not.
"No problem," she spat as her hands tightened into fists.
"I'll let you go now. After all, it isn't very gentlemanly of me to hold you as I am. Surely I am causing you some discomfort."
"I am fine." She answered and sighed in relief when he let her go.
Taking a step back, she exhaled the breath she had been holding and he smirked.
"Where are we?" Caroline asked as she looked at the somewhat familiar surroundings.
"My former home in Mystic Falls." Tyler answered as he made his way over to the window and looked out.
"Former?" She asked, curious as to what he meant.
After all, last time she checked, the Lockwood's still owned the home even though they were looked upon as degenerates.
"Yes… A couple of years back, mother and father decided to sell the house without my permission, of course. As a matter of fact, I still haven't gotten back at them for what they had done to me. You know, they never even visited me when I was locked away in that asylum."
"Why would they?" Caroline said before she could stop herself. "You ruined their reputation, Tyler. Your parents used to be respected and now they are not."
His already dark eyes turned even darker and she felt a shiver run through her body. He closed the space between them and slapped her on the cheek so hard that she fell onto the bed.
Holding her reddened cheek, she looked at him with wide eyes and a smile appeared on his lips.
"Never speak to me like you did just now. I can do far worse if I would like. If you were smart, you would heed my warning and speak only when you are being spoken to."
Still shocked and in pain, she simply looked at him with a stricken expression on her face.
Tyler Lockwood was truly a lunatic and she had to get out of there as soon as possible. Otherwise, she didn't even want to think about what he would do to her.
"I'm sorry." She apologized.
With a satisfied grin, he nodded and then left the room only to return shortly after with something in his hand.
"I have made dinner and I would like for you to join me. Do me a favor and put this on." He said as he went over to her and gave her the bag that he held.
Caroline looked at the bag with a confused expression on her face and he motioned for her to look inside.
Looking inside, she pulled out red lingerie and a men's dress shirt.
"What is this?" She asked as she looked at the red lingerie with eyes as wide as saucers.
"It's your outfit for the evening. You're gorgeous, kitten and this outfit will make you look even more beautiful."
"I- I can't wear this." She said as she shook her head.
"Well, I don't think I gave you a choice. You'd be wise to put it on without complaint." He said as he turned and moved towards the door. "I'll be back shortly," he announced as he stepped out of the bedroom and locked the door behind him.
Klaus's eyes opened and he looked to the side and spotted his brother sitting there with his phone in hand.
"Kol?" He asked, the confusion evident in his voice.
"Hello, brother." Kol said as he looked at him and at that moment, Klaus knew that something was wrong. Kol's usual cheerful eyes were dimmed and he had no idea why.
"What happened?" Klaus asked as he sat up and looked at him.
"Nothing," Kol said as he shook his head and looked away from him.
"You're lying to me. What happened. Did something happen to Caroline?"
"I- I fear so, Nik. I just have a really bad feeling."
"But Caroline said she would return shortly."
"That was almost six hours ago, Nik. She was supposed to call me when she was going to be on her way to Mystic Falls, but she hasn't yet."
"Mystic Falls? Why was she going to Mystic Falls, Kol?"
"She wanted to settle things with that madman, Nik. I'm afraid that perhaps he has her in his clutches."
"Oh god," he said as he fell back against the pillow and shut his eyes. "We have to find her, Kol. That man is not stable… He could hurt her- or, or worse."
"I know. But where should we start?"
"If he has her then he has most likely taken her back to where this whole thing between them started. Mystic Falls, Kol. We have to get to Mystic Falls as soon as possible." Klaus announced as he sat up on the hospital bed.
"Nik, you can't go anywhere. You just suffered a hit to the head."
"I don't give a bloody hell. I need to find her and I will no matter what."
"Klaus, lay back down. I'll find Caroline and I'll bring her home."
"No," he shook his head. "I trust you with my life, little brother, but I have to do this myself. You can either come with me or stay back, but I'm going now."
"I'll come with you. Just wait. Let me at least call the nurse."
"Okay, but pass me my clothes over there." Klaus said as he motioned to the chair.
Kol did as Klaus said and soon thereafter he returned with the nurse who looked at him and shook her head.
"I advise you to get back into that bed, Mr. Mikaelson." She said.
"Nurse Liza, you have been a gem to me, but right now I truly need to go. I promise to rest up as soon as I am done with what I have to do."
"Mr. Mikaelson…" She started as her gray eyebrow lifted. "The doctor has to agree to discharge you."
"Then please call her."
Nurse Liza did just that and a little while later, he was discharged against the medical professional's advice...
A few minutes later, Caroline heard the sound of footsteps outside of the bedroom door and the lump in her throat grew even more.
He turned the lock and when he entered, Tyler stopped in his tracks as he took in the magnificent sight of her.
"You're stunning, kitten. How lucky am I that you are now all mine?" He said as he moved towards her and took a hold of her hand before he pressed it against the front of his pants.
Caroline bit down on her bottom lip so hard that she drew blood. What is it that she has done to deserve this? Has she been a bad person?
"As much as I'd like to mark my territory here and now, I believe some dinner would do before what I have planned for tonight."
Caroline wanted to pull her hand away so bad, but he held her wrist so tightly that she was fairly certain that she'd have a bruise in the morning. If she lived that long that is…
With a satisfied and crazed smile, he pulled her along and down the stairs they went and into the dining room.
The dining room had barely any furniture. All she saw was a little table that would fit only two people and the kitchen island.
He let go of her for a moment and she wondered if she would be able to make it out of the door. However, that idea couldn't even come to because seconds later, she was sitting down. Then, she spotted rope on the chair and he tied her hand to the chair.
"Is this necessary?" She asked as he whistled a merry tune and went to get the plates that were piled atop with hot food.
"Oh yes." He said as he set the plates down and sat down across from her.
He opened a bottle of red wine and poured it into two glasses.
"Dig in, kitten. You'll need your strength for the night ahead." He said as he winked.
A shiver of dread ran down her spine and she truly hoped that a miracle would occur. Caroline didn't want this. She wanted to wake up from this nightmare and she wanted to find herself tucked safely in her bed with Klaus by her side.
Oh please god, protect me from this monster and let me live the life I've always wanted...
There you have it, my darlings. So this story is quickly coming to an end and I hope y'all will remain on the ride until the end. I'm thinking 2-3 more chapters. Not really sure. Here is to hoping that I update more than I do!
Note: If there is any other fanfic of mine that you would like updated, let me know and I'll try my best :)
