A/N Heeeyy...
I'm back everyone! (4 years later)... I know don't kill me, but life didn't give me the time needed for this fic... or any other fic... BUT I'm back and I'm going to slowly update this until it is finished! Why? Because I promised that as long as I'm alive, I won't leave a fic unfinished!

Disclaimer: I don't own Kuroko no Basuke, I only own my cute OC, Masato Megumi!

Now on to the chapter!

Today's the first day of midterms. Megumi kept checking and checking the same things again and again. She couldn't help it… She had lost a lot of precious time.

But, during the last days, she had a lot of help from her friends. Midorima helped with maths and biology, Atsushi with chemistry, Momoi with physics and Akashi with literature. They all helped her make great progress with her studying, so there was nothing to worry about…

Except that she was still extremely nervous.

And the fact that she was shaking like a leaf.

And the fact that she was pale… paler than usual…

And she was coughing…

Right! Cough drops!

She quickly swallowed one and put the rest in her bag. She was getting sick and she knew it. She was trying to prolong it, but she knew the inevitable would soon happen. The Midorima family warned her about that too. They'd asked her to stay in bed but…

There are a number of reasons I can't do that…

What should be the most important reason, is that she would lose her scholarship; but in her mind there was one more thing just as important…

Sei-chan…

Her precious friend would probably worry over her and instead of studying, he would spend time in her house

Which can't happen for another number of reasons…

Like, his scores would drop. Akashi had great scores, so he couldn't just drop everything for her, right?

Also, he would definitely spend time with her family that way, leading to embarrassing moments.

What if her parents started thinking that they were dating? She wouldn't be able to look at them in the eyes… no… she wouldn't be able to look Akashi in the eyes again

The doorbell suddenly rang. Megumi let her mother open the door as she finished getting ready for her exam. No matter the reasons, she was going to school, end of story.

As she was about to exit her room, the door was opened and her mother rushed in

"Megumi! Who is the young man that came to get you? He looks like a prince!"

That's because he is one, mother

Her mother kept rumbling about Akashi. Yes, she already knew. The only other person who'd probably appear at her doorstep, would be Atsu-kun, but her mother already knew him, because they always return together.

"Mei-chan! The car is waiting!" She heard the familiar voice shout and she panicked, walking down the stairs

"Car?! What car?! You're not getting on anyone's car young lady!" Her mother lectured

Megumi tripped at the last few steps of the stair and closed her eyes, waiting for the fall. She did fall somewhere…

But that somewhere…

She opened her eyes to see what happened to her and she found herself staring into ruby eyes.

"What are you doing Mei-chan?!" He shouted "Be more careful! What if I weren't here?! Think about your body's condition!"

So he has been worried about that… She sighed and freed herself from his embrace "I'm sorry, I'm fine. Stop treating me as if I'm made of porcelain" She reminded him "I don't like it when you do that"

"Then take better care of yourself" He commanded "And careful when you walk down those stairs"

Megumi sighed again "I'll be fine Sei-chan, really… Let's just… go to school, ok?" She said while walking towards the door. She was dizzy already. She didn't know if she wanted to get on the car, but it was probably safer than walking.

Seijuurou followed her with his eyes. He already knew, since Midorima had warned him. He couldn't do anything about it, but it didn't mean he wasn't worried sick. He sighed as well and followed the stubborn girl to his car. He could easily pay for her tuition, so why was she worried so much about her scholarship? He couldn't understand. He got on the car

"Mei-chan-" He started but he was interrupted

"I'm fine Sei-chan" She replied

"I know… But I don't understand-"

"Sei-chan we've had this conversation before… I can't rely on you or your money all the time… There are things I have to do on my own" She said looking out the window

Seijuurou thought of putting a hand on her shoulder, but then withdrew the action. He looked sadly towards his hand. He wanted to tell her that she was just a kid and that she didn't have to act like an adult. He wanted to tell her that it was alright to rely on him sometimes or all the time. He wouldn't mind. But then he remembered: He was no different. He was already managing his father's company's finances. Without anyone's help, no matter how hard it was sometimes. And he was studying as if there was no tomorrow, like her, in order not to sully his father's name. He wasn't different than her, so what right did he have to tell her not to act like an adult when she was just a kid?

Soon, they arrived to school. Everyone saw how pale she was when they arrived. Seijuurou, who was standing behind her, moved his head left and right, showing them that there's not much they can do to change her mind. So, they all went in and begun their tests.

The bell rung. It was time for their lunch break. She was about to exit the classroom, when somebody approached her.

"Waaaa…. That last problem was really hard, wasn't it?" The stranger asked

"Umm… yea… I'm sorry, do I know you?" Megumi asked in return

Murasakibara looked at the male in question. He was trying to figure out what his motives were when he suddenly spoke to Megumi, but he wasn't too sure. He had seen the boy try to approach them before, but he ignored him. Murasakibara knew for a fact that he was hated by the boy in question, so he didn't want Megumi to hang out with him too much. His reasons were shallow after all.

"The name is Kobayashi Ayato. You should at least know your classmate's names" The boy teased as he stretched out his hand toward Megumi.

"Sorry, sorry. I spend to much time with my friends from the basketball club" Megumi smiled apologetically, not accepting the boy's gesture.

"Heee~ Are you saying that we're no fun, Megu-chin?" Murasakibara asked while leaning his head to his palm, which was leaning on the desk. A desk that was too small for a giant like him.

"Not at all, Atsu-kun. I enjoy every minute of it" She reassured him

"You two seem to be really close, calling each other pet names" Kobayashi noted, not ready to give up.

"Yes, I really like Atsu-kun!" She replied, smiling brightly

Murasakibara ruffled her hair. "Megu-chin, careful with your words. There's someone that would murder me for what you just said" He said, seriously scared of the person that was just mentioned. He felt goose bumps at the thought of a certain redhead coming after him.

"I don't think he would do that~" She gave a toothy smile "So? What can I help you with, Kobayashi-kun?"

"aaa… This problem here" He said, eagerly showing her his notebook.

At first, she seemed unapproachable. Distant. But, that was probably a false image he had created in his head, since the girl in question had never spoken a word to anyone in the classroom ever since her appearance. Not anyone, except that giant snack weirdo from the basketball club.

Murasakibara was gifted, that is no question. But, for a girl of this calibre to give her full attention to him was just outrageous. The moment she spotted him in the class, she ran to him! To that enormous idiot, who couldn't fathom anything other than chemistry, cooking and basketball!

Time and time again, Kobayashi would try to speak with her. He might not be perfect, but he was far a better much for her than someone from the basketball club.

However..! Each time the bell would ring, that giant would drag her away! He never got an opening… not one! But now, she was still here. He would make sure it stayed that way.

So. Even though he knew the answer to the damn problem, he would have her show it to him. That was the only way he could think to make her spend time with him, for now.

Half of the break had passed and they were not here. SHE was not here. Why isn't she coming?! He questioned himself, already losing his patience. He was really looking forward to her bento today too. He always stole a few bites from her. She was always cooking for herself, so he had to try everything!

That's it! He got up and stormed to her classroom. How dare Atsushi steal her from him! He didn't show up either so they HAD to be together. If he dared to eat from her bento, he would certainly kill him!

He opened the classroom's door angrily, drawing everyone's attention to him. He scanned the classroom and found his girl… but she wasn't alone. An unknown boy was sitting with her.

Flames could be seen around the red haired prodigy. Atsushi would be fine. But an unknown MALE?!

Atsushi noticed his teammate's rage and gulped. He knew that Akashi was murderous at this point. "Aaa, Megu-chin…?" he tried to get her attention. Megumi looked up from Kobayashi's notebook to see a terrified Murasakibara, who pointed at the door.

When she saw Akashi, she flinched. She had never seen him like that.

Akashi walked towards them "You're late" He said in a dead serious tone.

"Sei-chan… I was just… Helping Kobayashi-kun with a problem he couldn't understand" She tried to smile it off.

"The break is almost over. We're leaving" He said as he grabbed her arm and pulled her out of her desk. The action was forceful, but, even so, Megumi was not feeling anything negative for her kidnapper. She thought nothing of this kind of action towards her. Not until someone else spoke for her.

"Hey! Who do you think you are? Don't treat her like that!" Kobayashi retorted, grabbing her other arm

Megumi's eyes grew wide. She couldn't understand things like that. What did Akashi do wrong? Why was Kobayashi so hostile? Why was he holding her hand?

"Kobayashi-kun… It's ok" Megumi assured him, hoping the boy would let her go.

"No, it's not! Nobody should ever treat you like that!" Kobayashi refused to leave her hand. Instead, his grip got stronger than before.

It hurts! Megumi thought. Akashi's grip didn't hurt her. Even though he was forcing her to follow him, he didn't hurt her.

"What do you know about Mei-chan?" Akashi asked in a serious tone, making the boy flinch.

He knew nothing about the girl in question. He just didn't want anyone to treat her so harshly. And… he especially didn't want her taken away, not after finally speaking with her.

Akashi took silence as an answer "Let's go, Mei-chan. You need to eat. You look pale again and the break is almost over" Akashi changed his tone from strict to caring. Whoever that boy is, he doesn't understand how important it is for Megumi to eat properly.

Megumi smiled at him. "I didn't mean to make you worry, Sei-chan. Thank you for coming to get me" She forced her hand free from the other boy and followed Akashi out.

"Say, Sei-chan… Have you ever met with a teal haired boy from my class?" Megumi asked her companion as she was wolfing down her lunch

The incident with Kobayashi from earlier didn't bug her anymore. She was more concerned about the boy she kept seeing everywhere. She had a feeling that some kind of fate was tangled around them. Not just her. Sei-chan… and the other basketballers from the first string.

"I don't know, what's his name?" Akashi couldn't care less about the boy in question. He was watching her like an eagle, making sure she would eat all her nutrients. Plus, she was cute. It was probably the first time he saw her so hungry, wolfing everything down like that.

"I have no idea" She said with her mouth full, before swallowing "But I've seen him a few times and he bowed at us and today I found out we're on the same class" She explained in a hurry as she kept eating.

"How could you not know you're on the same class?" He asked chuckling and she gave him a look "what?"

"Who won't let me spend my free time with anyone other than him?" She teased

"Some very lucky guy, that's for sure" He countered as he linked their foreheads, smirking. There's the red. That red on her face that he can't resist on making it appear.

And there was the bell "Oh no… I didn't eat all of it!" She panicked

Annoyed, he let her go. Lucky? What kind of joke is this? Every time he'd try to create a moment, these things happened.

He let go of her, letting her eat her last bites and they returned to their classes

Akashi appeared again after classes were over. He had to make sure that the wolves wouldn't appear before his girl. The boy from earlier had quite a mouth, going against him. It took everything he had not to show his murderous instincts in front of Megumi.

And surely enough, that Kobayashi guy was bothering her.

"Mei-chan, it's time to go" No reason to be on the offensive from the momenthe arrived. He would only fall in her eyes… But the words that came out of that boy's mouth were absolutely forbidden.

"Masato-san, would you like to go to the movies with me sometime?"

Megumi was silent. It was obvious from her expression that she wasn't expecting that. It was also clear, that she was thinking hard about it.

Oi! Oi! Don't tell me she's actually thinking about it?!

"I'm sorry, Kobayashi-kun. I still have to study and with the basketball club…" or rather, someone in that club "I can't go out with you" She smiled apologetically.

Akashi let out his breath… She said no… As he was about to approach them again

"But you're already the top of the class! One day won't do any harm!" the boy insisted

He's digging his own grave…! Akashi felt rage grow inside of him

"I'm sorry… I really can't… I don't know where you heard that, but it's definitely a lie. I still haven't caught up with anything"

"Is it because of Akashi-san?" The boy asked

Megumi tensed "S-Sei-chan has nothing to do with it!" She denied blushing

"You're calling each other like that… He's your boyfriend isn't he?"

"H-He's not… Sei-chan and I are not like that…" She blushed even more

Akashi decided that that was enough. He walked inside and repeated himself "Mei-chan, it's time to go" He smiled

She smiled back, grabbing her stuff "I'm sorry Kobayashi-kun. I have to leave now" She said and Akashi grabbed her hand as they exited. She was so used to the action, that she did not understand the message it conveyed to the boy.

"I'm not giving up!" She heard him shout and that was the end.

A few days had passed. It was getting dark. Today, they had decided they would be studying at her house and she was more than happy about it. The studying sessions had become more intense since midterms started and she was exhausted.

"Oi! Megumi! Don't fall asleep when I'm teaching you!" Midorima shouted

"I can't help it… I had an exam this morning and I've been studying ever since… give me a break…" She whined

"Don't use excuses on me! You know that if you can't solve these problems, you won't pass tomorrow's exam, nanodayo!" He shouted again

"If Mido-chin keeps stressing her out like that, she will, definitely fail~" Murasakibara countered

"Shut up! Why are you here anyway nanodayo!"

"Megu-chin's mom said she made mayubo~" The purple haired giant answered nonchalantly

Midorima rubbed his temples

"I think Atsushi is right. We shouldn't pressure her anymore for tonight" Akashi joined in the conversation

"You're being too soft on her nanodayo" Midorima answered "Wait… what are you doing?" he asked as he saw a boy covering her with a blanket

"She's going to catch a cold otherwise" Akashi replied

"Oh my, she already fell asleep" Megumi's mother noticed as she entered the bedroom with a box.

"Yes, we should take our leave now" Akashi said as he stroked her hair gently

"Then, Atsu-kun, why don't you take these home with you?" She gave Murasakibara one of the boxes, calling him with the same pet name her daughter used.

The boy opened his box with an excited "Mayubo~ Thank you very much~"

She then gave Midorima a box of mayubo as well. "Thank you for doing so much for my Megumi… I can never pay you enough" She bowed respectfully.

"We don't need your money… We're not like all those hospital doctors you've met so far" Midorima replied "Our family takes pride in taking care of patients like that"

"Thank you so much! You have no idea how much you're helping us" She insisted

Midorima shifted his glasses "Our job is to make sure she stays alive… Your job is to make sure she follows our instructions"

The mother smiled at him "Is she dear to you?" she asked

Midorima looked at the couple to be and then back at her "No… To be honest, ever since she appeared, my life is a mess" He looked at them one more time. Akashi was half asleep, stroking her hair. "But she's important to someone else who's dear to me"

"I understand" She said and turned her attention to the redhead "Akashi-kun, why don't you stay here tonight?"

The half asleep boy straightened his back and focused on the mother "There's no need. A car will pick me up when I ask it"

"Don't worry, don't worry~ you can stay here for tonight. I'm sure Megumi would be more than happy" the mother insisted "I'll go and bring the futon for you"

"Can I use your phone?" Akashi asked "I should let my father know of this"

"Yes of course, follow me"

"Alright, you guys are dismissed. Good luck tomorrow" the young captain to be said and proceeded to inform his father of his invitation to the Masato house.

After he was done, he was angry. So… SO angry… His father would make him work the whole weekend because of that. Because of one small thing like that! It's not like he missed on his work! Father is such a tyrant!

In his anger, he stormed back into Megumi's room, forgetting that she was asleep. Thankfully, she didn't wake up. She was still placed on the table, her arms used as a pillow. That wouldn't do! His Megumi had to sleep more comfortably than that!

He walked closer and picked her up, bridal style. He smiled. Just holding her in his arms was so soothing. He knew by now: He needed this girl. He couldn't live without her. He knew: He would work overtime for days, just for a night with her in his arms.

He placed her on the bed and laid next to her. This is bad… He was becoming addicted to her. What if he reached the point when he needed her by his side every night? This was bad…

He stroked her cheek, tenderly, enjoying how she leaned into his touch. This girl would be his demise, he knew it. He held her close to him, intending to fall asleep like that.

Sei-chan and I are not like that…

Not yet, Mei-chan… Not yet…

Megumi's mom walked inside, bringing a futon. She smiled, realising it was not needed. Her little girl must have grown up. She already found someone important to her. And that someone was treating her as if she was made from diamonds.

The father also came, intending to warn the boy that if he so much as touched his princess, he would break him into a thousand little pieces. And he was about to do just that, when he saw them on the same bed…

But the mother stopped him "That boy treasures our Megumi as if she was made from diamonds. You know her condition. He'll have to overcome many hardships. Let us not be one of them" she said and grabbed his palm, leading him to their own bedroom.

So, yea I'm back you guys, I hope this fic will get the attention it deserves because it's going to get intense in a few chapters as promised... We all know what happens to Akashi but Megumi will also be affected by these things...

Enough with the spoilers! See you guys next chap!
