She did it.

It crossed Link's mind that he really should focus on his surroundings now, what with all the guardians around them, but the next second the thought flew away as the only thing he could see was the princess in all her glory. Emotions—those he thought he would never again feel ever since the despair that was Calamity Ganon replaced every other feelings away—awashed him.

Relief.

Joy.

Pride.

He always knew that the princess could do it, that there was never anything wrong or lacking about her. He could feel the power in her, see it even. Or else how was it possible for someone to appear so... radiant. The bright light which had been visible only to him, and which had saved his heart countless times, had now appeared before the princess' - and of course the guardians'- eyes.

He knew she only needed a nudge in the right direction. There was nothing more satisfying than seeing one's belief and conviction realized before one's eyes. At that moment Link felt so proud of her. She could now show the fools who had been talking behind her back who's the boss.

But the next second he saw darkness. Apparently the adrenaline rush sustaining his consciousness for such a long time cut off as he saw his princess' success. Perhaps it was a bad idea for him to relax for a bit there.

When he could at last open his eyes, he was in the princess' arms. The soft light enveloping him made him feel so comfortable that he was afraid he'd go right back to sleep if he didn't try his best to stay awake. But he needed to stay awake. He wanted to congratulate her.

Yet all that came out was a hacking cough that rattled his body to his very core. Link at last felt the pain from the numerous wounds he sustained from the battles they had been embroiled in ever since Hyrule Castle fell prey to Ganon.

... Perhaps an apology was in order too.

The princess was saying something, but Link was not coherent enough to understand it. The words on his lips wouldn't come out, and at last he gave up on them. He had never been a man of many words, yet the princess always had a knack for understanding his intentions. Well, she did miss the mark sometimes, but this time, he was sure his words could reach her just fine.

You did it.

I'm so happy for you.

I knew you could do it.

And...

Sorry I can't stay with you anymore. But you'll be fine now. I know so.

With that thought Link at last succumbed to the sweet allure of sleep.
