Welcome back to another sneak peak into my mind!
So it's been so long since I posted. I apologize but hope this is worth it! :)
Chapter 9- Together Again
Bella's POV 5 years 1 month 4 days after kidnapping. 9:47pm
I woke up groggy. The ground underneath me was rock hard but smooth. It was cool and it felt better than the numbness I felt throughout my skin. Cold meant I'm not dead yet. The Fates won't let me, not yet.
I felt a warm familiar hand on my forehead and I took a few deep breaths before opening my eyes. Well, at least that's what I tried.
"It's okay honey, take your time."
I took a few more moments, but I was able to open one eye. I looked into a deep hazel with purple tints around the iris. I open my other eye and stare into the face of my sea friend.
She smiled at me softly.
"I couldn't heal your entire body but just enough so you can live. We have to fix this the human way and you were abducted for 5 years. I healed what I can but left some bruising and a scar for your abdomen so it seems like it's an old attack rather than new."
"Yo-" I cleared my throat. "You can heal?"
Julie nodded. "But keep it quiet. I'm not allowed to share this secret with just anyone" and winked at me.
"What happened to Angelica?"
No one answered me. There was a long pause. I looked up at Dmitri expectantly. Dmitri sighed dejectedly and answered, "I looked at the area where Vicky pushed her, but she's long gone."
"I was unable to break the compulsion of anyone else in the household. The minds would break and they would be shells of what they are if they cannot break it themselves. He has layered the compulsion thick and it's a miracle you were able to break it. The fire made it impossible to see if anyone survived and Dmitri was so distraught that I came back not realizing that Angelica is gone." Julie answered sadly.
I nodded slowly. Not quite used to using my head that well. It felt heavy after continued disuse.
"Alright. What do we do now? I haven't planned that far"
"Well first we head to Carson City where we declare you found and alive. Julie will have to go with you since Dmitri and I should be in Phoenix with your family. We'll have to make a cover story. Once we declare you alive and found, the police are going to question you about everything so we should take the time now to get our stories together. We tell only your family the truth and the rest will be fabricated."
Victoria started and then Dmitri finished, obviously talking about this while I was unconscious.
"Once the hospital checks you out and deems you healthy enough, Renee, Victoria and I will head over and claim you."
"Okay, what's the story? Obviously it can't be a madman took me because he wanted me as his bride."
Julie chuckled. "No, but we should put some truth into the lies. He took you and Angelica because he was searching for a girl, a daughter we suppose and he mistakenly took her instead of you. He never touched you inappropriately because he loved you like a daughter. I will be an unknown third party who was taking a hike through the woods and found an estate and found you. I recognized you from the many lost children files across the city. I took you away before anything happened and have not stopped until we got to Carson City."
"But what about Angelica? I'm sure you would have seen her"
"Hm. You're right."
We all pondered at that.
Victoria was hesitant but she said "What if we said when Julie tried to save you two, Angelica was already brainwashed into being obedient and wouldn't leave and tried to hurt you. It would explain some newer injuries and why Angelica wasn't with you"
I didn't want to agree, but it was the best solution.
"Okay... The scars on my body should be explained from earlier months of the abduction and once I learned to behave, the punishments stopped. They shouldn't ask me further than that, if I put on a show of PTSD and hyperventilate." I tried to lighten the mood at the end.
Victoria grew sad at this statement. She pulled me closer to her and hugged me. "I'm so sorry baby that you had to through this so early. I should have never left you and I cannot even blame James nor Dmitri. It was my fault for losing track of time and never contacting back home. I thought you were safe until you were 22. God I'm so sorry."
I hugged her back. "It was never your fault. How were we suppose to know that they would try to search for me before I turned 22. We all thought it was a well kept secret. Guess you can't count seers as secret keepers. It's okay. I just lost a few years of my life, but I learned valuable information about the supernaturals while I was there and once I finish high school, we can do that adventure we talked about since I was young."
Then I stopped. Feeling dread all over.
"What honey? What's wrong?! Did you remember something? Did he hurt you? Was it an experience. Do you really have PTSD?!" Victoria looked worried.
"I'm 5 years behind school. Will I be going back to 5th grade as a 15 year old?!" I asked hysterically.
Everyone paused. Looked at each other and laughed. Really laughed. I huffed. It was a legitimate question. But I realized the absurdity of this and started to join in the laugh.
Once the laughter died down I stared at Julie.
She and I nodded as we mentally agreed that it was time.
Victoria and Dmitri grabbed us and ran towards the city and dashed off vampire speed and once we got close to the borders they stopped. By the side of the road was an abandoned car that Dmitri had set up earlier and gave the keys to Julie. Victoria held onto me and breathed in my scent for a long time while I did the same.
"It's okay, I'll see you within 24 hours." I said to calm her down.
She nodded as she let go of me slowly. Her bright eyes seeping through the brown colored contacts. With one more hug from Victoria and Dmitri, Julie and I got into the car and started to drive.
It was a short and quiet drive. As I saw the police department and the line of police cruisers in the parking lot I asked Julie to stop the car.
She stopped by the McDonalds and looked at me. Not judging but waiting for me to talk to her.
"Is this it? Will we never see each other again?" I asked.
"Never. You're my soul sister now. I've grown to love and care for you within these two years and you reminded me to be strong and to have faith in myself. I lost that faith when my confidant had failed the community and I banished myself from them. However, I know that is that what I should've done. I am going to accept my responsibility and repair the damages I caused by leaving."
I nodded. Sad, but understanding of her situation.
She unhooked a one of the necklaces that was around her neck. "Take this. When you get closer to a large body of water and you're wearing this. Even if a finger is in the water, I will find you. We will never be apart and I've come to love you as my sister and I will come find you once I sort out my business."
I put it in around my neck and held onto it, sharing a voiceless thank you towards her and nodded.
We both got out of the car and headed towards the police station. As we got closer, I started to force a limp and hunched over holding onto Julie.
The door rang when we walked in.
There were maybe 7 officers on their phones or filling some documents but they all focused on us. Open eyed as they saw two girls covered in blood and mud.
"Are you ladies okay? What happened?"
I looked up and I said "My name is Isabella Dwyer, I was taken 5 years ago."
Then all hell broke loose.
What did you guys think now?
The next chapter will be posted by Sunday the latest.
Hopefully.
