JUNE 2018: I was talking to a friend, and he asked about my favorite anime. I went on a long rant about how it's Wolf's Rain, I even looked up BlueXHige music videos for him to watch (and re watched the series with him) and it just reminded me of how I love it, and how this story was so close to my heart. I know it's been almost 10 years since I last updated...so my readers all probably adults with no desire to read this...but I just want to finish it. For me, for anyone that ever liked it, for the characters, and so, my summer project begins…
I am re-reading this and will probably be re-writing some aspects, but not the whole story as I don't want it to be a completely different story than what it was originally meant to be, though unfortunately I did change out some characters, so my OC no longer exists, though I was proud that most readers seemed to like her. Anyway... (Bye Sassy Cassandra!)
JULY 2018: I'm not gonna lie, it's been rough-but so much fun! Previous chapters have been edited/rebooted, and the plan is to update every Monday until our story comes to a close. If you are just checking out the "New Chapter" I suggest you check out the previous chapters! Enjoy :)
Chapter 13
Hige glared at his image in the big restroom mirror. He had hoped that a weekend would make it less visible, but here he was on Monday morning, and it was still there, plain to see, and he didn't blame the many students and teachers that had asked him what happened. He'd gotten hit with a soccer ball, of course, he'd lied.
"Ass" He muttered as he touched his now black and blue bruise. He immediately winced, it hurt.
Once he had thoroughly examined his bruise he retreated back into one of the bathroom stalls.
He didn't know what he should do. He didn't want to go to his classes- the only reason he'd even come to school was because Kiba had threatened bodily harm if he didn't get up. Violent? Yes. Effective? Definitely.
"This sucks!" He yelled, as he punched the door to the stall, which naturally, made it open.
That's when he noticed that a certain teenage female was standing in front of him, staring. She was, as always, beautiful. Blue was wearing jeans, converse, and a black t-shirt that he was sure had once belonged to him.
"This is the boys restroom" He whispered as she pushed him back into the stall, locking the door. He was glad he wasn't claustrophobic.
"I know"
"Blue..."
She sighed and tried touching his bruise but as soon as her hand got near, he winced and turned away, not that he could move very far, and why had she thought locking them in a bathroom stall was a good idea?
"I'm so sorry Hige! Did my father do that?" She would kill him, she really would. How could he?
"Blue...no. I just, we shouldn't be in here."
"You've been avoiding me all day, I had to talk to you..."
"I just, can't see you anymore." He whispered, aware that the bell was about to ring, and the room would be full of people ready to gossip. He was also aware that the girl of his dreams looked crushed, as he told her it was over.
"Hige, do you love me?" That was the question, wasn't it? Hige didn't have to think about it.
"Duh-doy!"
At that, she started laughing, and soon he joined in, and it felt so good, like they really were meant to be together, and they could face any challenge, and then there was Toboe.
"Blue...I...can't be with you. Not if it'll hurt my brothers."
"What did my father say? Please Hige, just tell me."
"I can't. I just...can't" He pushed past her, and ran to his class, not once looking back.
Toboe, Kiba and Hige were sitting in their living room, they had gotten home from school with no sign of Tsume, so they'd decided to lounge around. The younger two on one couch, watching TV, Kiba alone on the smaller couch, texting Cheza. His focus was on trying to find the perfect response to her message, where she admitted to wanting to find a job.
"This is such a lame movie" Hige muttered out as he took the popcorn bowl from Toboe, who let him, but stuck his tongue out in mock anger.
"Yeah, I guess after seeing the new IT movie, this old one is just really...not great." The 12 year old admitted, before being elbowed by Hige. The boy immediately regretted his words, and carefully glanced at Kiba to see if he had noticed. The boys, and Blue had snuck in to see the movie a while back, and it had given him nightmares for at least 3 nights. It had been great.
Kiba looked up, gave a shake of his head, in disapproval, but said nothing.
"Why are we watching this movie?" Hige wanted to know, he had been excited at first, but now he was bored, annoyed, and hungry.
"We're bonding remember?"
The two older boys turned to Toboe and groaned. The boy always had to make everything overly sentimental.
"You're such a girl, Toboe."
"That's sexist." Toboe muttered, frowning and throwing a pillow at Hige, who dodged,so the pillow hit the popcorn bowl, and making a mess of popcorn.
"Look what you did!"
"It was your fault!"
"Clean it up!"
"No, you always make me do everything and-"
"Every time" Kiba noted, interrupting the squabbling brothers. "This is why I don't like hanging out with you two. Both of you can clean that up."
After Hige and Toboe had grumbled through cleaning popcorn, Kiba stood up. He wanted to take a shower before dinner, but as got up, Tsume opened the door, seemingly out of breath. That was weird.
"Where were you? I thought it was your day off?"
"I spent the day with a ...friend. We just saw a movie." Tsume admitted, getting the attention of the 3 younger boys. Tsume didn't have friends, Tsume didn't go to the movies...
"You saw a movie? That's so good! You do need to relax more" Toboe spoke up, looking away from the TV, nudging Hige, wanting him to say something nice, but his older brother was still currently ignoring the oldest.
"Ha...I guess. Well, actually. This...friend, is coming to dinner. I hope you guys don't mind." He didn't care if they minded. After He and Hamona had "held hands", they'd taken a walk and he'd felt so comfortable with her, almost like talking to an old friend. Hamona had forgotten to give him the money for his car, so they had needed to see each other again. She had invited herself to dinner, curious about his family, and he hadn't objected.
"You invited someone over, this is new" Kiba commented, giving the older boy his full attention now. Tsume didn't seem uncomfortable by their comments, simply shrugging them away, though he still stood by the door, with it half open. Toboe was about to comment of the fact, but Tsume explained,
"Yeah. She's actually here, she was just getting her jacket from her car." As if on cue, there was a gentle knock, and then a girl stumbling in. The 12 year old smiled immediately, recognizing the blond beauty. Her violet eyes sparkled as she saw him, and she waved enthusiastically, an enthusiasm that died instantly when she saw the boy next to Toboe. Light brown hair...beautiful sparkly eyes. It was him. Oh, no. She immediately felt her heart breaking all over again. A quiet, half sob, half moan escaped her mouth, as she saw the complete horror in his eyes as he saw her.
Hige stared at her in complete disbelief, the terror was immediate, and it took him far too long to realize it wasn't her, no...it wasn't Jaguara. Still, the horror didn't quite leave. 'No way..'No way in hell' he thought, shaking his head.
"It's you!"
To Be Continued...
A/N: Please forgive any spelling/grammar mistakes. I tried to re-read all the chapters one last time before updating, but, it is what it is. Haha. I have around 6 more chapters already written, so, like I said, updates will be on Mondays :)
