Gohan can only look on in disbelief. In front of him stood Trunks. No, not his Trunks. His Trunks was standing next to him, looking on in disbelief at the scene in front of him.

Trunks, the other Trunks who was somehow here, had single handedly killed both of the Androids in one attack. He had one palm extended out, still smoking.

This Trunks wasn't like his. He had blue hair for some odd reason, not to mention he was MUCH older than his own Trunks. His Trunks was in his teenage years, while the other one who just killed the Androids looked closer to Gohan's age.

Blue-haired Trunks looks back at Gohan with a look of longing in his eyes. A look that shows that he recognizes Gohan as someone he cares dearly about. A ball of emotions build up in this older Trunks as he tries to remain calm.

Gohan stands in front of his Trunks, protectively. Even though this Trunks lookalike had killed the Androids, it didn't immediately mean that this guy was an ally.

"Who are you? Why do you look exactly like Trunks?" Gohan demands, narrowing his eyes, slowly getting into a fighting stance. He was hoping this wasn't another Ginyu situation.

"Gohan its me. Trunks. I'm not an imposter. I swear." Blue haired Trunks moves in closer, reaching out a hand to Gohan, who still wasn't fully trusting.

"No you're not. Trunks is right next to me. Plus you have blue hair." This causes blue-haired Trunks to take a step back as he looks up at his hair. Then looks behind Gohan to see the younger Trunks' hair.

Oh right. He forgot about that.

"Gohan listen. I just took care of your androids. I'm from the future. I traveled back here to warn you about whats to come."

This causes Gohan to waver slightly.

Time Travel? Like the machine Bulma was making?

"Impossible. You can't be from the future." Gohan says, clearly in denial. He wasn't going to just take the word of this stranger.

"I am! I came back to this day because you would lose your arm today protecting me. I took care of the androids because there is a much worse threat coming." Adult Trunks explains. He had almost forgotten how protective Gohan was back then. Back when he was still alive.

Gohan looks down for a second processing this. He begins to let his guard down, not sensing any malice from the man in front of him.

Teen Trunks steps from behind Gohan, looking at his doppelganger in amazement. He looked almost exactly like him, minus the hair being different.

"How did you get here? Did your Bulma also make a time machine?"

Adult Trunks nods, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a capsule. He throws it down, causing a plume of smoke to form before the shiny yellow time machine is revealed.

The first thing to catch Gohan's attention was the spray painted 'HOPE!' on the side of it.

"Wow! That's the machine Mom makes!" Teen Trunks looks on in amazement, stepping from behind Gohan, running around the machine to examine it.

"It sure is. She does end up creating it." He says with a smile.

Gohan fully lets his guard down, looking at Trunks in the face. He sees something is wrong with this Trunks. This Trunks was skinny, he still had muscle tone but his frame was thinner. Almost as if from lack of nutrition. He also had visible eye bags under his eyes. His jean jacket was ripped and dirty, almost in tathers.

This Trunks looks like he had it rough. Does the future get that bad?

"So uh, what is this threat?" Gohan asks, noticing the look in Trunks face changes once he brings back up the threat.

"Right." Trunks leans against a piece of rubbles as he looks down at his feet. The memories plaguing his mind.

"There are multiple threats. The first being a bio-android named Cell. He is currently somewhere on this planet, absorbing humans and gaining power. His goal is to absorb both the androids and attain his perfect form."

This catches Gohan off guard as he damn near chokes on his own spit. Another Android?! After all of this time there is another android they have to worry about?!

"Don't worry, as of right now he still should be weak enough to wear you and him together can kill him. Just make sure every bit of him is gone otherwise he will come back stronger. He has the DNA of saiyans and Piccolo." Adult Trunks points to the Teen Trunks, who's eyes widen in surprise and a slight bit of happiness.

He and Gohan can finally take down an Android together.

"Got it. Is there anything else we should know?"

"Yes there is. After Cell another major threat is coming to earth. An evil wizard named Babidi is coming here to resurrect an ancient evil named Majin Buu. His strongest minion is the Demon King Dabura. He far surpasses Cell and the Androids in strength. You and him need to train together in the room of spirit and time to get on the level needed to kill him." Adult Trunks clenches his fist, a vein appearing on his fist as he feels anger bubble up.

"Babidi on his own was weak, but he has the power to take control of minds and enslave those around him with a weak will. He created an entire army from most of humanity, forcing them to be slaves, syphoning their energy in an attempt to revive the evil Majin Buu." He continues as he recalls the painful memories.

He remembers the evil looks on the thousands of people under Babidi's spell. They would all try to hold him down to take his power. He witnessed first hand how Babidi would line them all up, each of them obeying him with no fight, and drain their energy. They would be drained until their left as nothing but a lifeless corpse. Like a disgusting Cult Leader, Babidi would gleefully kill those who followed him.

"What about Dabura? How strong is he?" Gohan asks, processing the information. He feels his heart clench, hearing about the thousands who would give their lives to feed energy to that monster.

"Allow me to show you the power you two need to obtain. This will give you an idea on the strength of Dabura." Adult Trunks clenches his arms, screaming out as his hair begins to flicker between blue and gold. The ground would begin to quake as Trunks powers up.

For a split second, even Gohan is taken aback by Adult Trunks and nearly falls over, managing to regain his footing at the last second. The same couldn't be said for Teen Trunks, who was literally floored, but his eyes looked on with amazement.

Adult Trunks let loose one more yell, that echoes across the city as a bright light overtakes everything around them. Both Gohan and Trunks would shield their eyes from the light. Once the light dissipates they are left in shock.

In front of them they see an Adult Trunks who far surpasses anybody's power they had seen. His hair was spiked up far more, with electricity dancing around his aura. Intense winds blow dirt and debris far in the distance.

"This. Is Super Saiyan Two. This is a form you two need to obtain in order to fight whats to come." Adult Trunks lets out a breath as he powers down, the wind calming down as he does so.

"That is incredible! Gohan we have to train now! We need that power!" Teen Trunks said excitedly, a genuine smile across his face. He feels the saiyan part of him flaring up. Seeing power like that on display would fire him up.

"Easy Trunks. We still need to know what's coming before we can do anything." Gohan focuses his attention back on Adult Trunks.

"Dabura is the real challenge. You seen that power I just displayed? He's stronger than that." This causes Teen Trunks eyes to widen as he looks at his future self with a flabbergasted expression.

This monster was stronger than that power?! His future self in his base was able to easily annihilate the Androids, yet that power beyond Super Saiyan couldn't beat him?!

"That is exactly why I came to this point. Both of you are alive and have time to get stronger. To save humanity from the calamity that is to come. Do what I couldn't and make sure your world knows peace." Adult Trunks feels a tear slip down his face as he says this, shaking slightly.

"We will. We won't let Dabura or Babidi ruin what we fight for. This world will see peace." Gohan declares, his glare intensifying on seeing him cry.

"Hey, uh quick question. What is the room of spirit of time you mentioned earlier." Teen Trunks asks shyly. He had no idea how to react seeing his Adult self cry.

"Oh right! You two need to fly to the lookout. I believe Mr Popo is still alive. He should be able to guide you both there. In that room, a day on the outside is a year of training on the inside." He reveals.

Gohan's eyes widen. That place... If they knew about it before they could have defeated the androids long ago...

Gohan then notices more tears falling down Adult Trunks face. He even begins shaking. His instincts kicking in, he walks over, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey Trunks are you-" He is interrupted.

Adult Trunks runs up to Gohan, hugging him. He couldn't hold it back anymore. Seeing his master alive again and with both arms was too much. Tears go down his cheeks as Gohan hugs back, feeling the pain this Trunks went through. Knowing that after he dies Trunks has to shoulder all of that responsibility alone.

It was a hard thing to do. Fighting all alone against impossible odds in a future where Earth never sees peace.

"Gohan! Its... its so hard. I lost so much. I just... I don't know if I can do it." Adult Trunks cries into Gohan's shoulder as he feels the world crashing around him.

What Adult Trunks doesn't mention is how his mother was a victim of Babidi. She wasn't able to be enslaved, but the humans that were... They stabbed her with one of those devices, draining her until she was lifeless.

All while Dabura forced him to watch. Babidi only laughing like a madman as this happened.

A while passes as Gohan comforts Trunks, giving him the strength he needs to stand back up. Regaining himself. Adult Trunks throws down the capsule, the time machine coming back out.

Teen Trunks looked on smiling. He knew that his future self-needed that. He could only imagine how he would react if Gohan died.

"I'll be back in fifteen years to check on you guys and to help fight, that's when Dabura and Babidi show up. In the meantime, protect everyone. Take care of Cell and save this world." Adult Trunks gets in the time machine waving.

"Thank you for everything! Especially killing our androids!" Teen Trunks says waving, a big smile on his face.

Adult Trunks didn't mention how he mostly did that for personal satisfaction. Sure he wanted to show them the power they need to reach, and how he was on their side. Still, he NEEDED a win for once.

The time machine begins to lift off. Adult Trunks can only look forward now, wiping the tears from his face. Despite the much needed hug and win being achieved, he can't help but feel deep anxiety hit him. A feeling of dread overtaking his psyche as he is pulled through space-time.

'Should I have stayed behind?' he asks himself this as with each second he feels that feeling of dread intensify.

For some reason he wasn't expecting to see what remains of Capsule Corp, but something horrific. Was it his PTSD kicking in? With his future and worlds begin ripped apart on multiple occasions this could be the case. Could it be an unforseen effect of constant time-travel?

"Calm down. Everything is going to be alright." He tells himself as his breathing begins to intensify. He clutches his head, his breathing picking up as he grabs into his own hair.

'NO! I NEED TO GO BACK!' his inner voice screams out. His breathing picks up even more as he realizes how there wasn't much room in the time machine.

Trunks looks towards the button to go back. His hand reaches for it. Right before he could press it, the machine comes to a halt, catching him off guard as he falls.

"Ugh. My head." Trunks picks himself up, the dome of the Time Machine coming off, letting off a *hiss* as it opens.

He looks around. Capsule Corp looked somewhat the same. This calms his nerves, his breathing steadying as well.

"Okay. Its alright. Everything seems the same." He says, laughing to himself, holding his forehead. To some he would look like a madman, laughing by himself in a dark building.

Trunks flies up, going through the roof.

Upon flying up, that dread quickly returns. He nearly blacks out once he sees the sight. No longer was the sky blue, it was now a permanent gray and dark green color. Smoke is polluting the sky as fires burn across the city. He can hear the bloodcurdling screams of people in all directions as he lays eyes on a figure in the sky.

That figure. Its ki was monstrous. It was pure evil.

This figure would cackle, blasting down a sickly yellow ki blast with a dark core, blowing up another building. This building would collapse, falling over and crushing dozens of people who tried to escape the chaos.

More screams ensue. More laughter.

Trunks clutches his head as the memories come back. He lets out a scream of despair as tears come down his face.

"NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Trunks cries out as that feeling of powerlessness returned. Once again he couldn't save anyone. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how hard he worked. It was worthless.

"Why me? Why am I always the one who loses everything!?" Trunks sobs loudly, punching the ground.

He lost so many. He lost his mentor to the androids. He DIED in the past. He lost his mother to Babidi. He fails to protect anyone. He is always doomed to fail.

Trunks begins to have a full on panic attack. Screaming as tears go down his face. He clutches his head, feeling that familiar headache returning.

This catches the attention of the figure in black, looking down with a sinister grin on their face.

Trunks begins to pick himself up, wiping his face again. He takes some deep breaths, realizing what must happen. He sensed this monster's ki. It seemed like it was holding back, but even he could tell it was FAR above his own power, even at Super Saiyan 2.

He couldn't fight this one. He needed to flee.

'I have to go! I have to get out of here! I need to go back!' Trunks quickly turns around running back to the space where the time machine was, but to his shock a yellow ki blast blitzes past him. It lands in the remains of Capsule Corp, destroying it completely, along with the time machine.

The figure in black lands in front of the shell-shocked Trunks. Who was now on his knees with his mouth wide open.

His one ticket out of here was gone. Trunks once again was alone, with the enemy right in front of him.

"Well well well. Looks like the great Trunks was trying to run from his problems once again." The figure cackles. With the fire behind him, it amplified the atmosphere as his shadow loomed over Trunks.

"Who are you? How do you know my name?" Trunks asks, backing up slightly. He was trying to think of a plan, think of anyway to escape.

"That doesn't matter. Just know I am here to serve justice. You have broken the laws of time so many times and its time you pay your dues." The figure steps forward, revealing himself.

"G-GOKU?!" Trunks shouts in disbelief as his eyes reflect Goku. He couldn't believe this. This ki, this monster who was killing people it was Goku...

"Silence mortal! Do not call me by that name. I am not Son Goku." Goku Black corrected.

"Who are you then?! Why do you look just like him?!" Trunks screams back, feeling a mix of rage and sadness upon hearing that.

"That was your last trip Trunks. No longer will I, a god watch as you, a mortal break the laws of space-time and face no consequence!" Goku Black powers up, a dark purple aura coating him. The power so immense, Trunks is thrown back.

A ki blade forms in Goku Black's right hand. He charges forward, cleaving Trunks in two. A spray of blood coating Black's gi as he looks back at the now still Trunks with a devilish look.

Trunks stops in his tracks as his upperhalf begins to slide away from his lower body. He coughs out blood as he feels his body shutting down. He doesn't even have the strength left to scream.

Huh so this is how Frieza felt.

The hybrid saiyan's pupils begin to go blank as his top half slaps down on the ground. He can no longer move.

"Tch, to think THIS is the best this universe has to offer." Black rolls his eyes annoyed, letting out a sigh. He didn't even get a fight out of him. It seems Trunks was mentally unwell.

"Putting an old dog out of its misery, how pathetic." Black says to himself, looking at the corpse of Trunks bored. He was unfulfilled, his body demanded a fight. Should he have held back? Put Trunks through another cat and mouse game? Use him to get himself stronger?

One last thought crosses Trunks mind before he makes his trip to the afterlife.

'Survive Gohan, Trunks. I'm sorry I can't come back.' With that final thought, Trunks dies.

He finally obtains real peace as his soul passes on to the afterlife. No longer does he need to fight to survive day in, day out. He can finally experience true serenity as he leaves the Earth for good. His time coming to an end once and for all.

Black doesn't stop there, he flies up high, lifting up his right hand. A massive Dark Powerball forms as he throws it down directly on the pieces of Trunks.

Trunks, along with the rest of West City is quickly eradicated.

Black laughs maniacally as he flies off, continuing his own brand of justice at the expense of the rest of the earth's populace. If he couldn't fulfill himself with a fight, he will by serving justice to the mortals that defile reality.

Gohan and Trunks in the past are blissfully unaware of his fate as they train in the time chamber preparing for Babidi and Dabura.

Let me know your thoughts on this story. If you have any questions let me know in reviews. I always thought about what if Future Trunks had another Future Trunks come back to HIS timeline rather than the past where Goku and the others are still alive.
