Lois Lane doesn't cry.

Specially over some stupid Lana-obsessed emo plaid-shirt-wearing idiot like Clark Kent.

So she did what Lois Lane did and locked her tears away. She kept them for herself, because Lois was selfish and she didn't like to give herself to others.

Not even her tears, that in all honestly, belonged to Clark Kent.

She had always been like that. She closed up. She built thick walls around herself and didn't allow anyone in. That way she avoided moments like this.

Moments of weakness. Of being surrounded by the debris of what had once been her foundation - what kept her, held her up.

Long ago she decided she would never let anyone in. She didn't want to be weak. And love, …love was a weakness - a weakness she didn't, couldn't have.

During her life, Lois had had a fair amount of boyfriends. Too many to count. Way to many to count. She was with them, but not really. Not emotionally. Emotionally she kept them an arm length away.

The few she had let in had disappointed. Hurt her.

They had made her weak.

And Clark Kent was no different. He would end up disappointing her.

And Clark Kent was the one person who she just couldn't be disappointed by.
