Chapter 6

I felt movement next to me and briefly forgot where I was, then it all came crashing down like a tsunami. The bar, I killed a pack leader and then Jace. He mumbled something softly beside me and his arm landed on my midsection. I turned my head slightly and my eyes met his, and I almost forgot how to breathe they were soft blue like an endless ocean you wouldn't mind getting lost in.

"Why are you awake so early, it's barely noon." I held back the urge to smile, I'd never seen him so vulnerable. His golden hair was in a tousled state that made me want to run my fingers through it. Before I could get the courage to my ears picked up noise outside and I realized where I was. Nobody could see me here, if they did my mother would surely hear about it. I got off the bed gently to not disturb him.

Then I saw I was wearing nothing but my underwear and one of his t-shirts, I got a pillow and hit him harder than intended but I made my point. He jumped out of bed startled "Jeez, what a wakeup what's your problem?" he was just in his boxers and I was momentarily distracted by the muscles lining his sleek body. "Well?" he smirked in satisfaction and I hit him again.

He took it from me "Why aren't I wearing any clothes? Did something happen between us? I wasn't that drunk was I?" He smiled and through the pillow on the bed and approached me slowly, like you would a defensive animal. He pushed a strand of hair behind my ear and said smugly "if we would have done something angel you would know it" I slapped his had away playfully and he replied with the sweetest of smiles.

"Your clothes reeked of alcohol and blood so I took them off and put them to wash" I turned away, not from embarrassment but the kindness, I've been alone since my change been treated different from the people I loved the most and this one act was all it took to break me down.

He grabbed my waist and turned me fiercely making me look into his eyes "Hey you are safe with me, I would never disrespect you, I know what you're doing don't shut me out. You are safe with me, always" I laughed unexpectedly "I know I am thank you" without even thinking I kissed him.

I caught him off guard, but I couldn't help it. It was as if there was a force pulling me towards him, at first our lips met gently like the ghost of a kiss. Then his fingers were in my hair and he pulled me closer, we couldn't get close enough. We were one person at that moment and his arms were the only thing keeping me in this world. Then I was no longer touching the ground I was in his arms my legs wrapped around his waist, I suddenly wondered how I ever lived without knowing this feeling.

After what seemed like an eternity in only a few seconds, with great difficulty I separated my lips from his and rested my forehead against his breathing in his sweet smell. I opened my eyes and in his I saw myself but I didn't recognize her. I stepped back, but I didn't get very far he kept one of my hands in his and placed his other on my cheek "Don't go" he whispered almost inaudibly and I tear slipped from my eyes.

"I'm not who you think I am Jace, I can't be who you want me to be, we could never be together I'll just hold you back" the words spilled out hysterically and I curled into myself. He gripped my face between his palms "Look at me angel" and I did because his voice was like an anchor, the only thing keeping me from falling into the pit of my mother's vision of me "You are good and brave and the goddamn strongest person I know. You are stunning Rose, I see you for who you are, what you are doesn't matter because your soul shines past that and I know that you will do such great things people won't be calling you an abomination they'll be calling you a hero."

I was at a loss for words and all I could do was fall back into his arms and the promise of his lips.
