"I want to show you something." Edward smiled at me, that crooked smile I could not say no to. He took my hand and helped me out of the car. "We will have to walk from here. Is that okay?" He asked.
"I'll be careful." I could feel the heat in my cheeks. He held my hand tightly as he led me through the woods. After ten minutes or so, we came to a clearing. It seemed like another world. Wild flowers grew in large lush patches. The sunbeams shone through the clouds, leaving a patchwork of light on the brilliant green grass.
I followed him to the middle of the clearing. We laid down. He took my hand and held it to his silent chest. I wanted him to kiss me. A perfect first kiss. I knew it was wishful thinking. He didn't trust himself. I trusted him completely. I rolled onto my side nervously, fiddling with the button on his shirt.
"Bella," he whispered as he raised my face to look him in the eye. "You mean everything to me." His eyes drifted down to my mouth. I bit my bottom lip nervously. He leaned in slowly. CRACK. A loud boom of thunder startled us both. A downpour immediately followed. He jumped up and took me by the arm, helping me to my feet. He started to run towards the woods, back to the car. He turned when he sensed I wasn't following.
"Bella, you're getting soaked!" He closed the gap between us in two strides. He reached out and put his hand on my shoulder. "Come on. Let's head back to the car."
This was it. I raised up on my toes and wrapped my arms around his neck. He hesitated at first but allowed me to pull him in. I closed my eyes and softly touched my lips to his. He cupped my face gently and ran his fingers through my rain-drenched hair.
He broke the kiss too soon, but I needed to catch my breath. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me to his chest. It was the perfect first kiss.
I leaned up on my toes to kiss him again. Now that I had a taste of him, I wanted more.
"Please, let me get you to the car, You are soaked all the way through." He said to me with concern in his eyes.
I did not want to leave the meadow. Our moment had been so perfect. He had put his guard down just a little and I was still alive. I was afraid if we left, the magic might be broken. It was a one time thing Bella. He would tell me. I should not have put you in that kind of danger. Reluctantly I agreed. My clothes were soaked and I was cold.
He picked me up bridal style and we ran back through the woods to his car. Once we got back the Volvo he smiled a wicked smile at me. He opened the back seat and gently sat me down. Then he winked at me! What was he up to I wondered?
He ran around the car and got in the driver's side. He turned the key and kicked on the heat. Eyeing me in the rear view mirror he said, "I need to get you warmed up." Before I could question him, I felt the cool air blow across my face as he opened the back door and slid in next to me.
"Hi." He whispered as he brushed the hair away from my neck. Goosebumps covered my arms and legs. I trembled at his touch. "I can turn the heat up." He reached between the seats to adjust the temperature.
"No, that's not it. I'm not cold." I looked him right in the eye hoping he could understand all the things I was trying to convey. All the things I felt but never had the right words.
He moved toward me, cupping my face in his hands. He touched his lips to mine. Gently, cautiously he kissed me. I slid down the leather seat to lay underneath him.
"Bella." He breathed my name, worry laced his voice.
"I trust you. I-I love you." I told him for the first time.
He ran his hands through my hair and stroked the side of my face with his fingertips. "I love you too." I leaned up to kiss him, he opened his mouth to me allowing me to deepen our kiss.
He moved his hand over my heart, I blushed. "Are you alright, Bella, your heart is racing." I shook my head yes. I laced my fingers through his and moved his hand over my breast. His eyes fluttered closed and he moaned as he slightly tweaked my nipple through my damp t-shirt.
He kissed me on the mouth then kissed my jaw. I felt his tongue slide down my neck. It felt electric. I ran my nails up and down his arms as he worked his way back to my mouth. My body took over and I began to grind my hips against his searching for friction. His body responded in kind. We kissed and touched and felt each other's bodies in a whole new way.
"Edward" I panted. "We should stop. I love this, and I love you, but I don't want our first time to be in the backseat of your Volvo." I grinned at him, running my hands through his hair.
'Yes, we got a little carried away." He slid down beside me pulling me close so I didn't fall into the floorboard. We laid like that for a long time. Me wrapped in his arms. Him making small circles on my back with his fingertips. The gently falling rain and the beat of my heart are the only sounds we hear.
I was almost asleep when Edward whispers in my ear, "it's getting late Bella, I should get you home." As I untangled myself from him, and tried to look outside. "I guess you really can fog up the windows in a car!" I chuckled.
Edward kissed my cheek. "I cannot wait to do it again."
