Chapter Three: Meeting The Cullens.
I peered at the selection of canteen food. Lasagne, pizza, chips. Yuck. These might of appealed to me when I was human but now it took all my self control not to gag at the meals on offer. I swear they dip everything in grease before they serve it. I grabbed an apple and a bottle of water to look healthly and politely paid the lunch lady for my prop food. I turned to look at what table I could sit at. Mike Newton was grinning and pointing to a seat next to him.
I bet she comes to sit next to me, no one can resist the Newton seduction! Mike thought. I shuddered delicately at the thought of spending an hour sat next to a boy with the qualities of a golden retriever.
I glanced over at the Cullen's table, somewhat hoping they'd invite me over. A short, pixie like girl was waving at me and ushering me to join them. I breathed with relief.
I made my way to the back of the canteen where the Cullen's sat, Mike Newton's face dropped and his thoughts were back to cursing the Cullen's and their seduction powers. I couldn't help myself let out a giggle. It sounded like a soft bell being chimed. I don't think I'll ever get used to it.
I took another step forward and gracefully sat into the chair next to the pixie girl. She was bobbing up and down in her chair excitedly, her black hair pointing in all different directions. An athetlic boy with lean muscles and longish blonde hair was glancing at me warily but had a small smile on his face. Sat next to him was a supermodel, she had gorgeous blonde hair and a pouty smile. Next to her was a monster of boy, he had short black curls on his head and massive muscles adorned on his body, he looked frightening but his wide smile told you he was a softie. I glanced to my left to see the last Cullen. I internally gasped. He was gorgeous. Bronze tousled hair, impentrable topaz eyes and a crooked grin that made your heart melt. He was a god.
" Hey Bella! I'm Alice! I know we're going to be the best of friends!" announced the short haired pixie. I gave her a dazzling smile. Her bubbly personality and hyper attuide rubbed off on anyone near her.
" This is Jasper, my boyfriend." She said pointing to the blonde boy next to her. He smiled at me and I returned one.
" That's Rosalie, don't worry, she's always like that." Alice gestured towards the supermodel girl that was staring into a compact mirror. I giggled but stopped when she looked up.
" The scary looking one is Emmett but he's a softie really!" Alice giggled. I gave a shy smile towards Emmett and he returned a massive toothy grin. He put you at ease immediately.
" And that, is Edward" Alice finished, nodding towards the vampire version of Adonis. He flashed a crooked smile in my direction and my insides melted.
" Nice to meet you all, everyone at school can't stop talking about all of you." I said, not really aiming the statement to anyone.
Alice rolled her eyes and Emmett chuckled.
" Like we haven't heard that before" Emmett boomed. A number of heads turned up to look in our direction. Rosalie glared at Emmett before turning back to her mirror.
" So, Alice. Have you got any special abilities?" I dared to ask. I instantly regretted asking. What if they weren't as open as they seem? What if they hated me for being so personal?
" Of course! After all I am the special one! I can see the future, obviously it's subjective to what people decide but I never miss a vision!" Alice giggled. She was so bright eyed and bushy tailed, I couldn't help smiling.
" I can control emotions and feel what others are feeling." Jasper stated proudly. No wonder I felt so calm as I sat down, I bet he could sense all my curiousty and nerves.
" And I can read minds; although, I can't seem to register your thoughts." Edward stated, his velvet like voice caressed the words and made you want to hear more. He cocked his head to the side in curiousty. Thank gosh he couldn't hear what I was thinking!
" Do you have one, Bella?" Alice asked inquisitively. I comtemplated telling them but decided on having a bit of fun with them first so they couldn't block anything from me, I just shook my head in fake sadness.
I'm so happy! I can tell we're going to be like sisters! I already love her to bits! We can go shopping and have makeovers! Bella is my dream best friend already! Alice thought. Even though I'd only known her half an hour and 33 seconds, I loved her to pieces, I could tell me and Alice would be so close.
She seems to be like one of us, I can sense the happiness pouring off Alice. And if Bella makes Alice happy, then I'm happy. I'm sure she'll be like a sister to me. Jasper considered. I can tell we'll get along.
She seems preppy enough. She's really pretty, not as pretty as me but I can tell she'll be great for Edward Rosalie comtemplated. Edward shot Rosalie a warning glance after she'd said the end part. Good for Edward? What did she mean? Wait. Edward isn't single is he? He CAN'T be. Undoubtedly, he must of rejected every girl in this school. A sudden pang of jealously shot through me. Has he gone out with other girls before? Jasper must of felt it and raised an eyebrow. I shook my head.
She's going to be like the little sister I never had! Bella and me are going to be the world's best pranksters and I can't wait! Emmett internally grinned. He was a big softie after all. He would be the protective big brother I always wanted.
She is so beautiful. Not that the generic Mike Newton has noticed. I could literally rip his head off for the things he's thinking about Bella. She's an angel. I have this pull with her I don't understand, I'll have to ask Carlisle. He can't mean any of that. I'm not beautiful. He deserves better. Gosh, he's so gorgeous. My thoughts were in a mush and I couldn't even construct full sentences in my head.
" Aww, don't worry Bells! Me and Rosie don't have one either, us people without powers need to stick together! Although I am stronger than anyone you've ever met." Emmett said understandingly. I chuckled at the last part. I doubt that. The man that changed me was the strongest vampire I've come across.
" Bella, please say, you'll come to meet our parents after school? Please, please, please!" Alice pleaded.
I raised an eyebrow towards Jasper.
" Is she always like this?". Emmett let out a booming laugh that made the table shake, Rosalie just shook her head and smiled, Edward laughed. Gosh, his laugh sounded like a thousand perfect symphonies. Shut up Bella! Stop thinking things like that!
" All the time Bella. I'd get used to it if I were you." Jasper chuckled locking his eyes on Alice.
The little pixie huffed.
" Course I will Alice, will your parents mind?" I asked, not wanting to be a burden on such a perfect family.
" Of course they won't!" Edward said quickly. Everyone turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
Damn Edward. Stop making it look like your falling for her. Don't answer so quickly, jerk.Edward argued mentally with himself.
" Well I don't need to go back home, so I'll follow you in my car?" I told Alice.
Alice just bit her lip to try stop a massive grin.
" Which is your scrap metal ride in the parking lot, Bella?" Emmett challenged.
Bet it's terrible. An old, rusty truck, I bet!
As if I'd drive around in something like that! I'd show him.
" My scrap metal ride, Emmett? It's the red Porsche near the entrance." I said smugly.
Emmett, Edward's and Jasper's mouths dropped open in shock. I giggled.
" Nice ride, Bella. I could probably modify it for you. Make it run faster." This was the first time Rosalie had spoken to me.
" Sure Rosalie and thanks, got a black Volvo back in my garage that might need some engine work." Of course it didn't but I was trying to do anything to get in Rosalie's good books, she seemed like one of those that didn't let many people in her friend circle.
Rosalie flashed me a dazzling smile and nodded her head. I turned back to Emmett to ask him the same offensive question.
" So Emmett, what's your scrap metal ride?" I snickered when he gasped pretending to be offended.
" We ride in the silver Volvo parked next to yours." Edward cut in, gesturing towards the parking lot.
" Nice ride." I said simply. If I tried to put full sentences together when I was talking to Edward, undoubtley I'd talk like I wasn't coherent. Not a good idea.
Edward flashed a crooked grin towards me.
If I had a beating heart, I'd be blushing 5 shades darker than my skin tone and my heart would be fluttering like a hummingbird's wings.
The bell signalled that lunch had ended. I rolled my eyes. Time passed quickly with the Cullens and I didn't want this conversation to end.
" What lessons have you got for the rest of the day, Bella?" Alice questioned, clearly hoping we'd be in the same class.
" I've got World History with Miss Ludlam now, Gym with Mr Trainer and Spanish with Mrs Goff.
" You've got World History with Jasper, Gym with me, yes! and Spanish with Edward." Alice told me happily. I wonder if that's got something to do with me being in the same class, I thought sarcastically.
I beamed a dazzling smile towards Alice to show I was grateful for all her help.
" We'll see you all later." Emmett stated, taking Rosalie's hand in his.
" Bella, if you somehow lose Edward after Spanish, meet us at the Volvo. We'll wait for you." Alice nodded towards me.
" Sure thing Alice, see you all later."
With that; Emmett, Rosalie, Alice and Edward gracefully walked towards their lessons. I looked up to Jasper and motioned him to lead the way. He let out a chuckle. It was nowhere near as good as Edward's.
Great, Swan! Just great! Your falling for Edward. I mentally shouted at myself as I walked towards World History.
