Chapter Seven: Convincing And Explaining.

I opened my eyes from my daydream. I dreamed about Edward and me. I dreamed about a safe haven called home. I sighed. Like either of those things are ever going to happen.

A muffled snap of a twig brought me out of my daze, I immediately got into my defensive crouch incase I was about to be ambushed. I sniffed the air for the scent of an attacker. Lavender, pine, oak, sun and roses all swirled into one hit my senses. The Cullen's smell. They'd come to look for me.

Why didn't they understand? My past could kill them! Or at least put them in so much danger they'd have to move or seperate. I let out a involuntary scream that showed my agony and sorrow. I could get the people I loved killed. The sound of swift movement stopped. They'd heard me. I had to make sure they couldn't find me, so I used my next power. One I rarely felt the need to use. Invisibility. I imagined myself disapearing, slowly loosing my colour, my clothes fading.

I peered down into a puddle to check my reflection. No one looked back. I was completely invisible. I breathed a sigh of relief and sat myself back down in the tree, listening for the Cullens to pass.

Light swishing at the bottom of the tree caught my attention, I dared to look over the edge to see who was there. Big brother Emmett was seated on a tree stump with his head in his hands and Rosalie stroking his back whispering soothing things in his ear.

" Rosie, I miss her. She's like a little sister to me. Everyone's a mess. I've never seen Alice sob like that or seen Edward so determined to find someone. I know we've only known her a little while but it's like one of our sisters is gone." Emmett sobbed. I choked at the sincerity of his words and seeing Emmett so upset. He's meant to be the happy one.

" Shh, Emmie. I know, I feel the same. We'll find her. I promise." Rosalie promised looking the most dertermined I've ever seen her before.

I leaned back again and thought about the Cullens. There like the family I've always wanted.

All of a sudden, something slammed into the side of me knocking me off balance and making me fall out of the tree. My arm throbbed. I kept my invisibility up incase it was a threat. I looked up into the tree to see a very confused Edward. He'd be running on the treetops and clearly not seeing me, he'd flew into me and knocked me over.

" Edward! What the hell was that?" Rosalie shouted up into the canopy.

" I-I-I don't know! I was running and then smacked something up in the tree!" Edward shouted, unsure of himself.

Alice, Jasper, Carlisle and Esme appeared out of nowhere and stepped into the clearing.

" Everyone get back home, you've got 30 minutes to get dressed and go to school." Esme said calmly.

" WHAT? WE CAN'T GO TO SCHOOL WITHOUT KNOWING WHERE BELLA IS!" Alice, Edward and Emmett shouted. I was confounded by how much their lives suddenley revolved around me.

" Me and Esme are going back to the house to get dressed and then we're going hunting. After that we're out searching for Bella. Once you get home, you can join us. Now GO!" Carlisle used his stern tone. Everyone was taken aback from his choice of voice but nodded their heads and ran back to the house grumbling. When I heard their cars drive out of the garage, I relaxed.

I could explain my reasons to Carlisle and Esme, they'd understand. They wouldn't interrupt. I saw both of them speed towards the house, holding each other's hands.

Show time.

I gracefully sprinted towards their haven they called home and stopped just at the edge of the forest. I'd give them a minute.

60 tedious seconds later, I took a deep unnecessary breath and gently rapped on their front door.

I'm going to seriously lose my temper if it's any of my children. I told them to go to school! Carlisle mentally shouted. I shuddered at his tone but quickly recovered.

Esme swung open the door and stepped aside to see who it was.

"Bella? Is that you? I'm so sorry about me trying to hug you, I thought it was polite. Please forgive-" Esme said trying to fit everything she felt in one sentence.

I cut her off. It was my fault, not hers. Carlisle had rushed to her side to see the visistor at the door.

"Bella? Come in, please." Carlisle and Esme ushered me through the front door and into the lounge. I sat down and they both copied.

" Bella. I'm so sorry. Everyone has been worried sick, I'm so terribly-" Esme began.

" Carlisle, Esme. I'm so very sorry about the events that happened today." They opened their mouths to argue so I put my hand up and they let me continue.

" I feel the need to tell you my past, my powers so you understand why I'm in danger and why you are if I stay with you any longer. Only if you want to hear it. I'd rather tell you two now because your alone. I don't think I'm ready to explain to your children yet. I hope you understand." I explained.

" Of course we understand and yes, Bella. We'd love to hear your story." Carlisle continued.

" One thing, when Alice, Emmett, Jasper, Rosalie and Edward get home, I'd prefer it if I went away for a while and come back to the house. Just to prepare myself." I added the end part quickly, hoping they understood.

" That's fine Bella. We understand and we respect your decisions. Please carry on." Carlilse spoke.

" Okay. I'll tell my story and then you can ask questions afterwards." They both nodded.

" It was in Phoenix when I was changed by a nomad. He looked extremeley hungry and I thought he would kill me out of thirst. I understood what he wanted. I then found out he had been using a tracker , the tracker been tracking me for months and now was his perfect chance to catch me. He wished not to drink me dry, but rather change me into a nomad like him. Of course, I was repulsed with myself and refused to drink human blood. I've never killed a human in my 100 years of being a vampire. Drinking animal blood was difficult in Phoenix as there was a lack of forests and surroundings that held animals for me to feed on. So I moved to Forks with the intention of finding another family. A vegetarian family. Of course, I was lucky enough to stumble into you and I found reassurance that my past of the tracker was behind me. Unfortunatley, it did not go to plan. I'm sure both of you are well aware of the Volturi?" I asked taking a break from my emotional story.

"I was with them for a while, horribly repulsed by their way of life but nonetheless, they appreciated the human's science, music and art. I left and decided to move on and find a family." Carlisle told me.

" What about the Volturi, dear?" Esme asked.

" My special abilities are VERY powerful and Aro, the leader wanted me to join them because of my powers. I refused. Aro, Marcus and Caius hated me rejecting their invitation so they have placed Demetri and the Volturi guards on my trail to kidnap me and take me back to Volterra."

Esme and Carlisle gasped hearing my tragic story.

" They promised that they'd find me and sentence to death anyone who was involved with me. So you must realize why I can't stay. I can't endanger your family for my happiness." I hung my head at the truth behind these words.

" Bella, if you don't mind me asking. What are your special abilities?" Carlisle questioned.

" My main ability is to absorb other vampires powers with one touch. That's why I didn't hug you Esme, in case you had a power. The vampire does keep their power but I copy it and it's excruciating for both me and the other. I didn't mean to offend you, I just didn't want to see someone as lovely as your family in pain."

Carlisle was in utter shock and amazement at my power. Esme gave me a look of pure love and I smiled.

" Thank you dear, for being concerned about my welfare." Esme said with such sincerity.

" That is amazing, Bella! But you musn't worry. Me and Esme possess no real powers. And I thank you deeply for trying to protect our family and for telling us your secrets. Bella, it doesn't matter whether the entire vampire population is after you, we don't want you to leave. We consider you family and it's killing us to see you so upset. So please, stay with us and let us help you." Carlisle pleaded.

They wanted me? They consider me family?

" You mean, me move in with you and be part of your coven?" I asked delicately but inside I was immensely pleased.

" Yes Bella. We mean it. Move in straight away." Esme nodded.

" As long as I'm no burden AND if I realize it's getting too dangerous, I'll be able to leave until the danger is gone."

Carlisle and Esme nodded. I let out a genuine smile.

" Thank you so much for your hospitality. I'd prefer if I told the rest so could you keep it out of your mind so Edward can't hear." I said.

Both of them smiled.

" So Bella, what powers have you suceeded in absorbing so far?" Carlisle questioned.

" I can read minds, become invisible, track anyone around the world, heal ANYTHING that's injured or dying and I have two other powers I prefer to keep a secret. If the Voultri found out about this power, they'd stop at nothing to get me".

They both nodded solemnly and I abruptly stood up because of the time. The Cullens would be back in 5 minutes.

" All the rest think I don't have any powers so I'll surprise them." I said as I embraced Carlisle and Esme at once.

" Thank you for wanting me, Carlisle and Esme. It means the world." I smiled and ran out into the woods. I settled into the top of a very high tree and waited for the rest of the Cullen's to arrive. I could hear Carlisle and Esme laughing with happiness and excitement at my return.

With that, a silver Volvo sped around the corner and parked speedily on the driveway. 5 gorgeous vampires hopped out of the car gracefully. They all looked defeated and sad as they walked towards the house. I took a deep breath. This was it.

Carlisle and Esme had gotten in their sad character roll as they explained how they didn't find me. I read everyone's thoughts.

I wish Bella was back, I miss her. I need to apologise. Esme expertly thought.

I hate to see my family so sad about Bella, we'll find her. Carlisle craftly added.

I miss her. She's my best friend. Why did she have to leave? I'm so lost without her. Alice thought sadly.

Hope we'll find my little sister soon, when I see her I'm going to pick her up in a bear hug and crush her. I miss her. Emmett's thoughts sobbed.

Strangely, I miss her strongly. She is like a sister to me and it's making Alice so unhappy! PLEASE COME BACK BELLA! Jasper mentally shouted.

C'mon Bella! Come back for heaven's sake! Yes, your more beautiful than me but your upsetting me! Please come back! Rosalie admitted. Psh. As if.

She's gone. My angel is gone. Never got to say goodbye. Never got to explain that current that shot through me. Never told her that I love her. Edward moaned internally.

I gently sprung down from the tree and landed gracefully on the balls of my feet.

It's now or never, Swan. Do it.

I ran effortlessly towards the front door and stopped on the porch. I gently knocked on the door and ran my hand through my hair. I can do this. I can do this.

" I'll get it!" Emmett boomed, bounding from downstairs. He swung open the door.
