Chapter Eight: Confessing and Moving.
I braced myself as the door swung open. Emmett would either flip out and slam in it in my face or be the cuddly teddy on steroids and crush me in his death grip hug. I took a deep breath and looked up.
I was faced with a muscly giant that seemed to have grown an extra 5ft in height and diameter. I'd never really realized how much his clothes stretched around his bulging muscles. He looked like her was on steroids. Seriously. Emmett's sudden serious face dropped into a shocked open mouth when he noticed the visitor. We both stood like that for what seemed like an eternity.
" I'm not getting any older here, Emmett." I stated with a big dazzling smile on my face. I haven't known him more that 2 days and I already missed him. He started to chuckle at what I said and then broke out into large guffaws.
" I get it, 'cause vampires don't age- ha- ha, your killing me Bells." Emmett boomed after his fit of boisterous giggles. He suddenley stopped and replaced his toothy grin with a evil smile.
What was he planning? I could read his mind and find out if I wanted to but something told me I didn't want to know.
I snapped out of my daze to notice Emmett running full speed at me and embracing me in a bone crushing hug, he swung me around on the road squeezing tighter everytime.
"Emmett. Can't. Breathe." I wheezed. This was a complete lie as vampires didn't need air but still.
He chuckled but let me down all the same. Everyone in the house must of heard Emmett's booming laugh as all of them had come out on the yard. Alice look absolutely estatic bouncing up and down in Jasper's arms. Jasper look relieved and a genuine smile overtook his face, Rosalie was beaming to see Emmett so happy, Carlisle and Esme looked smug and Edward looked.. Well Edward looked gorgeous. His eyes had softened when he saw me and his famous crooked grin flashed towards me.
I desperatley wanted to go hug Alice, Jasper and Edward and tell them I was fine but my power prevented any contact with them. Alice was bouncing up and down with excitement when she suddenley stopped and locked eyes on me.
Uh oh. I didn't have to read her mind to know what she was going to do next. I immediately threw up my physical shield to stop her from hugging me, it would hurt her when she hit it but nowhere near as much pain as copying powers.
Alice bound towards me her arms open in a welcoming embrace when all of a sudden, she went flying right back to where she started in Jasper's arms. She looked so lost and pained, it made me sob.
" Nice one Isabella. How about you go back where you came from instead of hurting us!" Jasper shouted, feeling Alice's emotions.
"Go on, Swan. Don't you think you've done enough for one day? First you make us all go crazy with worry and now you've hurt Alice." Edward snarled. I'd never seen him like this. It broke my heart. They were both right. I should of never even come to Forks. Of course he doesn't love me. Who does?
"Jasper, Edward. You dare say anything else to Bella then Lord help me I'll-" Esme shouted using a tone that no one had ever heard her use before.
" Sticking up for her as well Carlisle? Has she brainwashed you too? Have you seen what she's done to Alice? To Esme?" Edward spat back.
I stepped back and shivered. Of course he doesn't like you. No one does. You should go Swan. Maybe you should let danger catch up to you and kill you. You've got no life here, I thought to myself.
"Edward. You don't know anything about Bella. At all. So stop jumping to conclusions and maybe let her explain." Carlisle stated calmy gesturing a hand towards me.
" I don't want to hear it, Swan." He fumed. I looked desperatley at Carlisle hoping he'd get the hint to tell them instead. He nodded.
" Sure you don't want to apologize to her, Edward?" Carlisle asked before he explained.
Edward furiously shook his head. I felt my heart drop and shatter. I was wrong before. He hates me, loathes me. Self hatred, loss, pain, grief, guilt, remorse and understanding threatened to break out of my body.
Jasper gasped and fell to the floor holding his chest in agony. He must of felt everything I was feeling and become too overwhelmed with it all. He was in pain. In agony. If I was going to leave at least go on good terms I thought to myself before I hurriedly walked towards Jasper.
" DO NOT touch him, Swan. Look what've done to him!" Edward snarled, daring me to try it.
I gave him an exsaperated look and turned my attention to Jasper. Like Edward could ever put me through the hell I've already received. I kneeled gently next to Jasper and hovered my hands gently over his shoulders. I let my ability to absorb feelings take over. It radiated off my hands and spread through Jasper's body.
Within 30 seconds, all my feelings were back to myself and he felt nothing. I staggered away from him and rested on the tree on the other side of the road. The whole family was staring at Jasper as he got up off the floor, he looked stunned but quickly composed himself.
Jasper turned to look at me.
" W-w-what did you just do? I was feeling so many emotions, it was agony. Pure pain. I've never felt anything like that before... Were you feeling that?" Jasper demanded.
" I absorbed your feelings. I can take bad feelings away from someone so I'm feeling them instead of the person I absorbed them from. I'm sorry Jasper. I let my feelings escape. It must of be torture for you." I whispered, shaking my head in self hatred.
Everyone stared at me apart from Carlisle and Esme. They gave me a grateful and sympathetic look. I saw that Alice was still on the floor, shocked and hurt.
" I'm sorry Alice. I put up a physical shield around me. I can't touch you without hurting you. I'm sorry to everyone. All I've caused is pain and hurt. I shouldn't of come back." I turned towards the forest.
" Carlisle?"
"Yes?"
" Could you tell everyone my story, so they understand why?"
" Of course Bella, but where will you be?"
" I'll be out at the lake. I think it's best if I think for a while."
I turned towards the forest and set off in a sprint. I ruin everything.
Third Person POV.
After Carlisle had told everyone Bella's story, everyone was silent.
Alice, Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett understood why Bella was so distant. Why she stepped back from Esme. Why she'd threw Alice back. It was to protect all of them.
Edward had only said one sentence since they'd got back.
" What have I done?" He'd whispered. When no one had answered him, he'd gotten up from the floor and went up to his room. A gaping hole was just outside his wall. Self hatred had kicked in and caused him to punch the wall in digust. Edward hated himself.
Everyone had gasped when Carlisle explained about the situation with the Voultri.
" Carlisle, Bella is a healer aswell as absorbing powers right?" Alice asked.
" Yes?"
" Well, if Bella 'accidentally' touched us then she could heal us, right? We wouldn't feel the pain and we'd be able to touch her." Alice stated smugly.
You see, once Bella has absorbed the power, she can touch the person numerous times and neither will feel any pain. She can interact with them like anyone else.
" Alice. Just drop it for today, okay? Bella is gone, deal with it." Rosalie whined. Deep down, she was secretley missing Bella. She felt like she'd lost a sister.
Alice bluntly ignored Rosalie and stood up.
"I'm going to talk to Bella." Alice stated turning towards the door.
" And me." Jasper spoke up.
" I'll go aswell." Emmett boomed, flinging himself off the sofa.
" EDWARD! ARE YOU COMING TO SEE BELLA WITH US?" Alice shouted to upstairs.
Edward was in his room, running his hands through his hair. He was dying to see her but he knew she'd never want to talk to him again, so he didn't answer Alice.
Emmett shrugged and opened the front door.
" You coming honey?" Emmett turned to Rosalie.
" I think I'll stay here, Emmie."
Emmett nodded turned back around. Jasper, Alice and Emmett all stole glances at each other before setting off into a sprint towards the lake where Bella sat.
