A/N: Here is Chapter two! Again thanks to my fabulous beta SoUsay234, couldn't have done this without her. Thanks to those who reviewed and story alerted, hope you like this one too!
"Jackie! Hey, Jackie, wake up already!"
Jacquelyn's wake up call was less than pleasant, being vigorously shaken from sleep by none other than Alice, was not necessarily the prettiest sight in the morning. She lifted one eyelid and shoved her away, stuffing her head back under her pillow while muttering something about Merlin's mother.
"It's eight o'clock already, you get your arse up or else you're heading to Arithmancy without breakfast! I know you can hear me!".
Jacquelyn rolled over and found the girl's dormitory nearly empty save for her friend and herself. Alice ripped the her covers off, making her regret wearing nothing but a sports bra to bed, and tossed her robes at her.
"I'm heading down, you can get detention from Vector yourself!" Alice yelled while heading out of her four-poster, shutting the curtain behind her.
"Yes, mother," said Jacquelyn, glaring at her through the curtain while throwing on her robes. She looked at the tangled mess she assumed was her hair and quickly sprayed on some Sleekeazy hair potion. She grabbed her bag in a rush and ran down to the Great Hall while untangling an aggressive knot in her hair, nearly falling off a staircase when it decided to change direction while she was in mid-step.
She made it in time to grab some buttered toast and run to the North tower. She met up with Alice near the last flight of stairs completely out of breath.
"Decided to join us, eh, Jackie?" grinned Alice, pleased by the state of her for earlier.
"Come on, Lily, beat us there at least five minutes ago. If we're lucky we'll get some decent spots in the back."
Professor Vector had this talent to make even the most interesting topics sound dreary, and Arithmancy? Well, it was dreary enough as it was. It felt as though the first forty minutes of the morning were like eons, the class had to refrain from cheering out loud when the bell finally decided to ring. Lily walked from her seat in the front row to the back of the class where Alice and Jacquelyn were packing up.
"Where were you this morning? You weren't in the Great Hall for breakfast," she said eyeing her friend suspiciously.
"I overslept, I'm not a morning person and of all people you should know, Lily," replied Jacquelyn, still trying to stifle a yawn.
"That I do. I'm surprised you're still putting up with her in the morning, Alice, I gave up after our first year. Now move your fat tush, Jackie, we got double Transfigurations with the guys and Ravenclaws now," Lily said walking a few determined steps ahead of Alice and Jacquelyn.
Jacquelyn let out an exasperated noise, she was hoping to get some sleep and there was absolutely no way that was happening on Mcgonagall's watch. She then looked down at herself and began twisting her body at different angles, seemingly trying to get a better look at her own body. Lily stopped walking, giving her a strange look.
"What are you doing?"
Jacquelyn gave her a meek smile "My ass isn't that big, is it?" Lily narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth, but no words came out. Alice was the first to react "You are IMPOSSIBLE, Jackie!" and she hit her on the head with her copy of Spellman Syllabary.

Something was for sure after double Transfigurations, if they had thought the O.W.L's had been a nightmare, they hadn't even tasted the desperation the teachers sought to put them through. McGonagall hadn't even finished going over the summer work when Jacquelyn along with the rest of the class turned to a Ravenclaw that had burst into tears and was sent to Miss Pomfrey's for a calming solution. Jacquelyn normally didn't have too much trouble with her classes, but she wasn't quite sure anymore. The girls had very firmly believed this year would be a breeze with double studies every day, but they were being let down very harshly.
Afterward they headed to double potions in the dungeons with the Slytherins, but even they didn't find enough time to strike up old rivalries with the set of potions they had to brew. Even Lily had trouble to most of the class's astonishment, dampening their moods even farther.
Jacquelyn, Alice, and Lily headed from their last class, a study period, to dinner in the Great Hall. The 6th years seemed to walk in with an air of shock, not completely aware of their surroundings till they sat at the Gryffindor table. Sirius, James, and Remus soon joined them, sitting opposite them with the same blank looks of distress on their faces that the girls were sure they had in theirs.
"We've been here for a single day," started James, "one day and we already have three bloody rolls of parchment on cross-species transfiguration and we have to cross reference them with the theories presented for human transmutation presented by 6th century warlocks, Oh, and we need to know how to do the set Professor Murdock gave us in DADA non-verbally. All do within two days."
There was a chorus of groans from all of them.
"Like we needed the reminder, Prongs. Here," said Sirius, picking up a turkey sausage and shoving it into James' mouth before he could protest. "Shut up and eat."
"Oh, I can't believe I forgot to ask! James, when are Quidditch trials?" probed Alice.
"Hmm, good point," he said frowning "I haven't really thought about it. You're still coming back for keeper right?"
Alice nodded.
Sirius looked at James "Okay so that means we still got me as beater, you - obviously - as seeker, Alice as keeper, and if I remember correctly Melody is still Chaser and - oh wait, Jacquelyn, you're still up for our second chaser, right?"
Quidditch talk always made her feel more energetic and really helped with her post-Transfigurations depression.
"Don't worry, you can't get rid of me that fast, Black." She then drooped her eyelids and spoke in a deep, lusty voice "Why? Need to get off from something besides a broom?"
The table burst out laughing as the comment caught Sirius off guard and he nearly choked on his pumpkin juice. However, he was too cool-headed to admit anything could catch him by surprise, and laughed it off uncomfortably, shooting Jacqueline a look.
They headed back to the Gryffindor Common Room after that, and spent the rest of the evening doing a head start on their work. The girls had learnt early on that delaying Transfiguration homework was asking for direct wrath from Minerva McGonagall herself and may Merlin have mercy on the poor soul who dared do that.
After a hopeless session of Alice and Jacquelyn being practically on their knees begging for Lily to help them with their Potions homework, Jacquelyn overheard Sirius talking to James as he and the Marauders were huddled by the fireplace.
"Don't you worry 'bout her Prongs. We'll get you a nice Hufflepuff to cheer you up—Merlin knows they're desperate enough."
"Honestly, Padfoot," interjected Remus, "You really think the Hufflepuff girls are going to let us back in after last time?"
"Good poi—"
"What exactly are you all even doing?" Jacquelyn asked, the last time a conversation went in that direction it had resulted in an illegal hex.
"Can't tell you, love, they might call you as a witness."
"You'd rather I'd tell Miss Prefect?" Jacquelyn said, gesturing toward where Lily sat while she tried to help Alice with her essay.
Sirius seemed to weigh her threat for moment, only to tease her.
"You're so cute when you blackmail" he said, dodging an empty inkwell that was making its way toward his head. "Just like that—feisty, aren't you?"
She rolled her eyes, "You know that doesn't work on me."
"You know you want me, Jackie" he began to strip-tease by taking off his Gryffindor tie, a move that earned a few giggles from some nearby 3rd years.
"Almost as much as I want Moaning Myrtle"
Sirius stopped undoing his cuffs with his teeth, "I didn't know you went both ways! Does that mean I can invite one of your friends too?"
"Lupin, help me out here?" Jacquelyn pleaded desperately.
"Padfoot, go be horny somewhere else" he said, not even looking up from his notes.
"You know what? Fine. Prongs, can I borrow the cloak?"
"Go for it, no strange stains this time though."
"Got it. Oy, Wormtail, let's go find out if Hufflepuffs still hate me." With that they slipped out of the Fat Lady's portrait hole.
It was around midnight when they finally lost hope after pointlessly trying to manage the DADA non-verbals and went to get ready for bed.
Jacquelyn finished brushing her teeth and changed into a tank top and boy shorts while the September air was still warm. Lily came into her four-poster while she was jotting down some last minute notes down on the goblin rebellions.
"Hey, what's up?" said Jacquelyn not looking up from her notes.
Lily eyed her curiously for a while "You meant a little more than just a joke when you asked Sirius if he was getting off, didn't you?" she sounded amused with her little observation.
"And where would you get an idea like that from?" Jacquelyn replied, still not looking up from her homework.
"Don't try acting all high and mighty about it, I know that you fancy him…even I admit he's not bad looking. At. All."
At this Jacquelyn finally turned her attention away from the goblin rebellions "We're still talking about the same person right? Sirius Black? Bane of my existence?" she asked sarcastically scratching at the edge of her paper absentmindedly with her quill.
Lily continued regardless of her attitude, "Oh, don't be like that! And think, Jackie! You're both Quidditch players, neither of you are," she snorted at what she was about to say, "exactly 'model students', and you're gorgeous! And now that I think about it – Oh, don't give me that look- you're also both extremely oblivious and stubborn! You admitted yourself after he stole that kiss from you in our fourth year: he is a good kisser!"
Jacquelyn couldn't help but smile at Lily's enthusiasm, but rolled her eyes. "Uh-huh. I think you're getting excited, my sweet, naïve, Lily." She grabbed the redhead's hands and tugged her unto her bed, they both lay on their sides facing each other, propping their heads up on their hands.
"Well, what about you? Poor Potter has come to you again and again asking you out! That poor boy eats up everything you say, yet you won't even talk to him unless Sirius and me are in the middle of it!" Lily grabbed her pillow and hid her face in it, only showing her eyes. Jacquelyn could tell she was blushing, but knew her better than to admit it.
"…it's complicated. He's a jerk. And has a big mouth," squeaked Lily.
"Not so fun to be the one getting matched, is it?" said Jacquelyn, grinning at her. She intertwined her fingers with her and lifted Lily off the bed swaying while singing a part from a muggle play she'd watched over the summer, "Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match! Find me a find! Catch me a catch!"
She twirled Lily out of her four poster and dumped her unto her bed "Go to sleep, Lily," she whispered faux-dramatically and shut the thick velvet curtain behind her.

Jacquelyn slumped off to her own bed and began to think about what could possibly have brought on the idea of Sirius and her being a couple, It seemed quite random in her opinion. It was no lie that he had turned pretty hot since the last time she'd seen him… maybe it was the new way he doing his hair?
Jacquelyn caught herself, then again he had a reputation of shagging anything that moved, they all knew it was nothing special when Sirius would go up to the boy's dormitory, a giggling girl (or even two) under his arm. It was common knowledge to the older students that anyone bringing company upstairs to the dorms and casting Muffliato after themselves was not to be disturbed.
She remembered the kiss he'd given her - or taken from her, now that she thought about it- in her fourth year. It had been her first year on the Quidditch team but she had definitely helped with Gryffindor's share of victories while she'd played chaser. They'd just had an extremely crucial match against Hufflepuff, winning 220 to 160, putting them second in the league right behind Ravenclaw, and even closer to the Cup than they had ever been before. The Gryffindor Common Room had been overflowing with energy as they'd celebrated the match, James and Sirius had managed to get mead and butterbeer from the Three Broomsticks and food from the kitchens.
The team had hoisted James in the air for the capture of the snitch that had guaranteed their victory, and Jacquelyn had found herself in the middle of it with a certain Sirius Black's lips crashing against her own. The gesture had caught her so off guard that she'd had her eyes open the whole time, yet it had ended before anyone could even notice. Sirius had grinned wildly at her reaction and disappeared into the crowd before she had even had time to process what just happened. To Jacquelyn's distaste, Lily had actually been right again: he was a damn good kisser.
Jackie chided herself: who was she kidding? She doubted Sirius even remembered the things that he'd done last week, let alone a kiss he'd had two years ago. He was just a friend, her mate, and at the rate they were getting on each other's nerves, probably not even a good one. She thought about Lily's reaction to bringing up James. There was no doubt that his head could do with some deflating, but she'd noticed that he was definitely getting better compared to the previous years. During their first three or four years, Jacquelyn and Lily could barely sit within ten feet of him because of how much space his ego took up. She giggled realizing that Lily's rejections had actually done some good. He was a great guy: athletic, popular, and with a face that was easy on the eyes. The poor schmuck had all the potential and nothing to do with it, Jacquelyn thought amusedly before she fell asleep.
