Alone.
In the never ending darkness.
Forever drifting.
The numbing silence was blissful to Beckett's ears. The escape from pain and reality was almost too good to be true, everlasting. Until the light, so bright it assaulted her eyes, screaming pain all over her body. As her eyes adjusted, she realised that the storm that they had seen coming had hit.
She was lying, alone, on the sidewalk outside Castle's apartment with the rain bucketing down.
The memory of what had happened before was flooding back to her; she had been in Castle's apartment with Alexis when there had been a booming knock on the door. Alexis had answered the door as Kate watched from the couch. As Alexis opened the door a crack, the men in ski masks pushed their way in and attempted to grab Alexis.
Kate had jumped off the couch as she saw the commotion only to be knocked swiftly to the gun by one of the attackers. Kate's world was spinning as she saw the attackers quickly overpower Alexis and knock her unconscious. Kate stood, holding onto the door frame as another wave of dizziness hit her. She hurried to the elevator and arrived in the main lobby in time to see the attackers with Alexis leave through the front.
She sprinted after them; reaching for her gun to minute she left the lobby. "Stop, NYPD." She screamed at them as they entered an awaiting van. The last man, before entering the van, turned to face Beckett.
Kate realised to late why the man had stopped, he held a shotgun in his hands, he raised it and fired.
Kate seemed to fall to the ground in slow motion, her head hitting the pavement, delivering her to darkness, as the van drove away with Alexis and her kidnappers inside. The Darkness started to consume Kate as she lay alone in the pouring rain, alone on the side walk.
Castle could feel something was wrong, he could feel the one coming storm. He knew Alexis would be alright, she was with Beckett. But he still could not shake the feel as he drove towards his apartment; he drove around the back to escape walking through the rain mean while missing the flashing light and the commotion that surrounded Beckett.
He could feel the feeling increase as he rode the elevator to his level; the feeling had become unbearable now. Castle stepped out of the elevator and froze, his front door was wide open and he could see evidence of a struggle inside.
With his heart racing, Castle sped into the apartment, calling out for Alexis and Kate as he ran from room to room. Again and again only meet by the silence and still emptiness, his happiness fading, replaced by fear increase with every room he checked.
With one room left, Castle stopped, he didn't want to open the door in case his greatest fear was conformed. His hand shook wildly as he reached for the door, turning the hand once again only greeted by the silence shadows. His knees buckled as he fell to the floor, fear consuming him, Castle shook as he only just held himself together or he knew he would never find them.
After what felt like eternity, he reached for his phone. He hit 1 on his speed dial and held his breath as he hoped for an answer, Common Kate, Please pick up he thought. The silence in his apartment was broken by a phone, Beckett's phone.
Castle left out a long breath, the next number he dial was to a phone inside the precinct, Esposito.
