I just love making stories with high shock factors! :P

Sun light began to peek over the roof tops of the neighborhood. The beams of light broke through the cracks of the chipmunks' window blinds, bathing the bed room in brilliant streaks across the bed spread and beige carpet. It was 7:52 on a Tuesday morning, a school day for them.

The warm rays of light shined over all three boys' faces, making them stir. Simon was the first to awaken from his slumber, looking over at the digital clock that sat on his night stand. He was gratified that he wasn't awoken so rudely by the alarm, and reached over, flipping the settings dial to off. He sighed with a smile and rolled lazily out of bed, the covers falling from his blue and brown body with a soft thud beside him.

After waking his brothers, which or course Alvin complained about as always, Simon traipsed down the stairs to the kitchen. Theodore bounded down the steps after Simon and quickly got to work making their breakfast. Alvin slumped into the depths of the living room couch, rubbing the drowsiness out of his eyes with his fists as he awaited breakfast. Dave had the day off from work, so he slept in, knowing Simon would make sure his other two sons would get to school. Theodore was entrusted with preparing breakfast so Dave had almost nothing to worry about. Now if only Alvin would behave. The three brothers ate their food in silence however and headed out. It was a very mellow morning, so none of the red, blue and green clad chipmunks had any energy to mess around.

The side walks were all drenched from last nights storm. Dew dripped quietly from the leaves of nearby oaks, drops of water that tickled when it shattered to mist upon their furry heads and sent refreshing chills down their spines. The air was very dense with water vapor of which clung to their clothes, making them damp. They began to approach the school, seeing the place just as subdued as their neighborhood, and showed only a few students here and there talking quietly amongst themselves. The chipmunks had reached the front intersection. Simon was awake enough to stop and look for traffic, stopping Alvin and Theodore. Alvin just shrugged him off though and continued on.

"Alvin, come on, don't through caution to the wind." Scolded Simon, as Theodore became distracted by a butterfly that exalted and depreciated across the tarmac.

Alvin ignored him, and once he was half way across the four lane road, he turned and raised his hands, walking backwards while giving Simon a "What-are-you-worried-about?" look. No sooner had he turned his back on the school did a silver blur of polished metal and booming radio speed by, followed by a deafening shriek of burning rubber as it swerved to avoid the clueless chipmunk. The screaming vehicle slowed down but continued down the road without stopping to see if anyone was injured.

Alvin and Simon stood unmoving, too shocked to process what had just happened. Relief began to ebb into Alvin's mind when he caught movement in the corner of his eye. He turned to it, still grinning that he hadn't been run over.

Theodore lay motionless on his side in a growing pool of crimson liquid, the green hoodie torn to shreds beside him. His stomach is dichotomized, gushing blood over spilled organs. A long string of intestines trail from Theodore's gaping mouth, splayed across the pavement, his eyes have fled into the back of his head. He's still breathing, quick and raspy...then stops as the butterfly settles atop the cold, out stretched paw that lay beside him.
