In a far away land...
"She's beautiful." A stallion with a dark yellow coat, orange mane and tail, and orange-yellow eyes said while staring at a palish green foal curled next to her mother. "She still needs development." A mare with a red coat, pink mane and tail, and bright pink eyes said still staring at her foal.
On closer inspection they could see that she was right, the unicorn's horn was mostly broken and still growing. "She needs to be somewhere safe," She said pulling the foal closer to her. "She can't stay here with the wolves prowling around."
"I asked Celestia to take her in," He said nuzzling up to her. "She'll be here soon." As if on cue, a bright light surrounded them, and when it dimmed a very tall white pony with a horn and wings, and rainbow colored mane and tail stood in place.
"Golden Shine and Radiant Ruby," The alicorn said dipping her head in respect. "Is the foal here?" They showed her the foal, and her eyes widened at the horn of the foal. "What happened to her horn?" She asked deeply concerned.
"Her magic still needs developing," Ruby said staring at the foal. "So her horn is in that broken state, but it will grow as her magic develops." The foal yawned and went back to a deep sleep. "I'll make sure she has a safe home in Equestria," Celestia said as she picked the foal. "What's her name by chance?"
The two looked from each other to their daughter. "Peppermint Swirl."
