Mud wars Chapter 6

Archie walked into the adjoining living room and sat on the couch beside Neil. On the TV, beautiful models bitched and bickered about each other behind their backs. Archie absolutely hated this show; it was all about models trying to make it in the modeling business, obviously Neil's favorite show. Archie didn't find the girls hot like Herry did, he thought they looked fake. They probably weren't even into skateboarding. Across the room, Jay and Theresa were playing foosball, Theresa was winning big time, which was strange because she sucked at the game. Finally, sitting on the reading chair was Atlanta nervously playing with the hem of her shirt and absent-mindedly looking around the room. Archie caught her gaze and gave her a questioning look, she quickly looked away.

"Match point!" Theresa exclaimed, smiling at Jay.

"Bring it on Teri!" Jay replied. Seconds later, Theresa scored.

"You weren't even trying Jay!"

"You think that I lost on purpose, so you could win for once?" he said jokingly.

"Yes!"

"Well you're right." Jay laughed. Theresa playfully punched him on the arm.

"Well, that was fun, but I must get going, things to do. Atlanta, you coming?" she asked, looking at the huntress.

"Yeah, whatever." she sighed. Archie could tell she was irritated. Atlanta passed beside Archie and whispered in his ear, "Save me!"

"Sorry Lannie, but this is a fight you're going to have to fight alone." Archie said. "I don't feel like having a girl talk with Drama Queen over here."

"I heard that!"

"I know."

Theresa opened the door to her bedroom and motioned for Atlanta to enter. She quickly shut the door behind her and made way to the to pink bean bags near the window. Atlanta hesitated before reluctantly sitting down beside her friend. Trying to avoid "the talk", Atlanta looked around the room. It was lavender with beautiful pink butterfly painted on the walls. The duvet for the master bed matched the walls and so did most of the accessories lying around in the room. Her eye's met Theresa's.

"So are you going to tell me what happened willingly or will I have to force it out of you?" Theresa asked.

"Nothing happened Theresa."

"Oh, so you and Archie just felt like today was a great day to make out?"

"No..." Atlanta blushed. "Urgh, what does it matter to you anyways Teri?"

"I'm just so happy that you guys finally hooked up! I just want to know what made Archie man up enough to kiss you?" Theresa said, squealing a little bit.

"What do you mean by finally? Archie's feelings for me are new!" Atlanta defended. Theresa stared at her friend before bursting into laughter. Atlanta stared back, obviously offended by her friends outburst. "What's so funny Teri?"

"It's just that..." She took a deep breath to settle her laughter. "Archie's feelings for you have been obvious since the first time you guys met!"

"You weren't there the first time we met!" she said, her voice filled with attitude.

"That's not the point Lannie. It's just really obvious. Haven't you noticed the way Archie softens up when you're around, how he's really protective of you, the way he gets irritated when Pan is involved or the amount of time you guys spend together?"

"That's just a great friendship!"

"No! That's love!"

Atlanta opened her mouth to defend herself again but closed it. Was what Theresa saying true? She thought back to all the times Archie and her skateboarded or ran together, just the two of them. About the times they fought Cronus, and Archie always had her back. The very first time they fought side by side, the time she fought the minotaur alone and the relief that spread across his face when he saw her again, knowing she was safe. All those times he stuck up for her, even when he knew she was wrong. When the Seeper got her, the smile that lit up his face when she awoke. Finally, back to the time when Pan came along and they dated, the hatred that Archie tried so hard to hide and the relief and joy when she chose him over Pan. Atlanta jumped up from her bean bag and hugged Theresa.

"What was that for."

"For helping me realize how blind I was to Archie's feelings."

"Just doing my job!" Theresa replied smiling. Atlanta quickly made her way out of Theresa's bedroom, and down the stairs. She entered the living room, there was no sign of Archie. Just Odie and Herry lounging on the couch.

"If you're looking for Archie, he left to go for a run in the park 5 minutes ago." Herry said, not bothering to look up from the tv.

"Thanks!" She replied running out the door. Herry smiled.

"What was that all about?" Odie asked

"My little babies are all grown up."

Atlanta ran as fast has her legs could carry her through the park, searching frantically for a mop of purple hair. She spotted him jogging up a small hill. She speed up to catch up to him.

"Archie! Wait up!" she screamed. Surprised, Archie slowly came to a stop and turned around to face whoever was calling him. He landed with a thud on the ground.

"Ouch! Lannie, why'd you tackle me."

"Because I love you!" she said, before kissing him full force on the lips.

"What was that for?" Archie asked, slightly blushing.

"My way of apologizing. I never realised you had feelings for me, I was oblivious to them. I probably hurt your feelings a lot of times."

"Well, with the way you apologize, I don't think I can refuse you apologie!" Archie said, smiling. Atlanta laughed. "I love you Lannie, but your kinda hurting me."

"Sorry." she replied heaving herself off his body. She held her hand out to him, to help him get up.

"Aww, eww, you tackled me into a puddle of mud!" Archie said, wiping the mud of the back of his sweater and pants.

"Don't, leave it." She said grabbing his hands into hers. "Just like the first time we kissed." she whispered before kissing him passionately.
