Once Lloyd opened his eyes, he found himself on a bed in the medical ward. He felt no pain, and he took that as a sign that he could leave. He jumped out of the bed and ran for the door, swung it open, and ran off to the Stage Selection room as quickly as possible.
Lloyd saw Captain Falcon stand up after he walked through the door. They both silently walked up to the platform that would teleport them to the stage that Captain Falcon picked, which happened to be Norfair. The transporting platform glowed as it activated, sending both of them off to the stage to begin their fight.
Lloyd looked around Norfair and saw nothing but lava everywhere. There were five floating platforms in the shape of a V, but other than that there wasn't anything else. Captain Falcon was on the far right platform of the stage, and he was on the far left platform. The announcer shouted 'Go!', and he leapt into action.
Lloyd jumped down the next platform below him and waited to see what his opponent would do. As he watched Captain Falcon jump to the lowest platform, he began to prepare his lightning powers for an attack. He saw that his opponent was trying to get closer to him however, forcing him back onto the platform he started the fight on.
When he was ready, Lloyd shot the lightning bolt at Captain Falcon. He took the time while his opponent was stunned to jump over to the other side of the stage and prepare another attack. In order to keep a bit of variety, he swung out his chigiriki and began whipping at Captain Falcon with the spiked weight at the end of the chain.
During the flurry of Lloyd's attack, he was actually able to hit Captain Falcon a few times. Not many though, because his aim was off and every now and then his opponent was able to defend himself from the attacks. But he kept trying, and every time he poured more strength into his attack he was able to inflict more damage at a higher rate.
Eventually Lloyd had to stop the attack because Captain Falcon managed to escape and get on a platform just out of his range. But before either of them could attack, a strange shield formed itself over him, leaving his opponent without some form of protection on the other side.
'So the lava is going to come forward and melt everything.' Lloyd thought while Captain Falcon was scrabbling over to where he stood. 'It's a good thing I'm already covered, but the doors are open. I'll have to defend myself unless I want to get kicked out and lose the fight.'
Lloyd began to fire a bunch of small lightning bolts just to keep his opponent away from the protective dome. But as Captain Flacon got closer, he had to amplify the power and fire them faster. He felt himself growing tired due to all of the energy he used up, and he could even start to feel the pain from the earlier matches start to creep up on him. Even though he knew that he should stop however, he kept at it and poured more of his power into attacking his opponent.
Right as he was about to just give up and stop attacking, the dome over Lloyd's head shut its doors and blocked anyone from going in or out. It blew cold air in his face due to the intense heat everywhere else and the lava wave surfing over the dome. He could hear the shriek of pain coming from outside as Captain Falcon became submerged in the boiling lava, ending the fight and leaving him to be the winner.
Again, Lloyd found himself in the medical ward, but this time, things were different. He couldn't move very well, he felt groggy, and there was a throbbing pain in his torso and head. To put it simply, he was in immense pain and couldn't get up to get to his next battle. He noticed that there weren't any curtains drawn around any of the beds, but all of the opponents he defeated were resting in them. Doctor Mario was nowhere in sight, but he guessed that he was busy somewhere.
Lloyd looked to the side of his bed and noticed that there was a note waiting for him. He relaxed his arm and focused before lifting it up and reaching for the note, ignoring the slight pain of fatigue.
'I understand that you have three more challengers waiting for you, but you have to forfeit them for another time. Almost none of the other Smashers are able to fight that much without needing time to rest, but it seems like you're one of the determined ones. But due to the attacks that you've absorbed, you're going to have to rest for a day. You have some special medication running through your body right now though. You'll be fine. But during the time that you won't be fighting, you can go with the others to have some fun in the nearby cities. You might even be able to find and meet some of the newcomers that are going to arrive soon.
Just have some fun for a few days! Relax and play a little bit, or even try to make some of the others your friend. But I am going to make sure you can't enter any more battles for a while. If you DO attempt to enter any stage, you will be instantly ejected from it and you will get a losing mark from that battle. Those are permanent, and the only time you can erase them is when a new tournament starts. But that doesn't happen often.
Attached to this note there is a bottle of medicine. Take one pill every night before you head to bed for three days. It heals you overnight as much as possible before you wake up, and it's the only reason why the Smashers can heal from every single type of wound imaginable.
- Doctor Mario'
For Lloyd, the rest of that day was fairly boring. Red, Pit, and Sheik were allowed to visit him for a bit, but they had to leave when they had to go meet some challengers for their fights. But they didn't leave without handing him a 3DS, so he wouldn't get bored or feel left out when most of the Smashers would do some kind of multiplayer competition on their own Nintendo consoles. Sadly however, the battery power was low so it turned off on its own fairly quickly and his arms were still hard to move without being in pain.
So Lloyd ended up doing what most people would do in the first place. He took a pill and just slept throughout the rest of the day and all of the night. No dreams or nightmares were present, nothing disturbed him, and he slept calmly and peacefully. Until morning that is.
There were intercoms wired into every single room and hallway of the Smash Mansion so when an announcement came on then everyone would hear it. But what Lloyd DIDN'T know was that they were also used as wake-up calls at five in the morning.
"EVERYONE STILL SLEEPING OR TRYING TO GO TO SLEEP BETTER STAY UP TO HEAR THIS! ALL OF YOU WHO ARE AWAKE, GOOD FOR YOU! NOW GET A LIFE YOU WEIRD MORNING PEOPLE! BUT FOR EVERYONE ELSE, GET UP AND OUT OF YOUR BEDS AND MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE FRONT OF THE MANSION! IF YOU AREN'T THERE IN THE NEXT THREE MINUTES, THEN I HOPE YOU GET PUNISHED OR SOMETHING! GOOD FREAKING DAY!"
Lloyd removed his arms from his ears with a sigh of relief. He didn't know who was yelling into the microphone, but he didn't exactly care. He was mostly happy that he didn't feel pain from moving any more, and also extremely curious as to what everyone needed to be called out for. He jumped out of the bed and began to run out of the room with all of the other patients in the medical ward following, running beside him, and running in front of him.
As the small crowd of Smashers made it to the front of the Mansion, Lloyd tried his hardest to get as close as he could to see what was going on. He got ahead of some of the others and looked through the window as he ran by, noticing a bunch of people in a crowd outside. The door was flung open by someone and he had to push through everybody just to get halfway through the door. But eventually he made it outside, stopping when he saw that the people he looked at weren't even a fraction of the amount of people outside at the moment.
There was a variety of almost every single type of person, from young babies to the oldest of elders. All sorts of different cultures were clashing in his large mixture of everything, and Lloyd didn't know why they were there in the first place.
"Mind telling us what is going on?" Ganondorf asked Master Hand, who was to the left of the Smashers and closer to the crowd of people.
"I'm afraid I do not know." Master Hand responded. "Many different people from all over Earth have gathered here for reasons unknown to me."
"Then why were all of us summoned here?"
"Because this crowd wants the Smashers."
Lloyd was utterly confused after hearing that. 'Why do these people want to see us? Did the others do something wrong?'
Right then, one person stepped forward from the crowd. It was a woman, probably in her primes. However she seemed uptight and strict, and the atmosphere around her seemed to reflect that. She walked over to Master Hand and then began to speak.
"We are ordering you to let us see the newest Smasher in this place, Lloyd Garmadon."
"You still have not told neither my brother nor I about your intentions."
"Those are classified. Now, we command you to let us see Lloyd Garmadon."
Lloyd watched as Master Hand just turned toward him and made a gesture for him to come closer. He stepped forward, and the woman just smiled kind of creepily.
"Lloyd Garmadon, due to excessive evidence of breaking the laws of Earth, you are forced to be put on trial and sent as far away as possible from the Smash Bros. Company."
Before he could respond, Lloyd was pulled back into the small crowd of Smashers by Red and circled around by just about everyone else.
"Lloyd," Red whispered to him. "Even though you haven't been with us for long, just know that we've got your back, okay?"
"Why? What's going on?"
"Something similar happened many years ago. I was sick with some kind of weird virus when this happened, but apparently Mewtwo was taken away just like this. It joined us for a while, but then some kind of fake trial was put up and it was forced to leave, never to be seen by any of us again. But what I don't get is why it's happening again, and even before the tournament!"
"What happened to make you think Lloyd did something wrong?" Zelda asked.
"You will see at the trial. Now Lloyd Garmadon, come with us before we have to send in the authorities."
The whole place was silent, none of the Smashers making way for Lloyd to sacrifice himself, which he wouldn't do anyway. To everyone watching, they knew the choice was clear. Nobody was letting another Smasher get taken away.
"Very well then." The woman said before attempting to pull a cell phone out of her pocket and hit three numbers. But before she could even hit the first button, her phone was forced out of her hand by some kind of creature hitting it. The woman looked at what smacked into her phone, which was broken in half, and noticed a red plant-like creature trying to get back up.
"So, you all have decided to attack me then. I see how this will be. Everyone, attack the Smashers!"
