Dredd lived by the rules of Mega-City One. He lived by the rules of the Hall of Justice and he lived by his own rules. They kept him alive on the streets, they kept him a Judge. Anderson was not one for rules. He had quickly learned that during the lockdown at PeachTrees. She followed rules, but only to a degree. She followed her instincts-her powers-more than anything. He warned her somewhere down the road, her reckless decisions would get her killed. Though she was a Judge, capable of making her own decisions on the streets, Dredd had felt an unfamiliar sense of obligation to keep an eye on her from time to time. Many incidences took place within the infirmary, with Anderson being treated for some injury sustained because of her choice on the street.
When word of her disappearance reached him, Dredd unconventionally put other cases aside. No one had asked him to look for her, not even the Chief Judge. Though looking back now, she must have suspected he would look for the rookie after hearing she'd disappeared. Not that it mattered now. He searched for three weeks, cracking down on every criminal he caught, using every ounce of their fear to squeeze information from them. It only took the three weeks to find the right lead.
Dredd stood in the rundown medical block on the outskirts of sector two. How the perps had gotten her out here, he wasn't sure of. Nor was he certain of what they were trying to accomplish by keeping her prisoner. All he knew, was they had abducted a judge, held her captive, and tortured her. The sentence was death. Their fate was sealed. But Anderson's...hers was still in the balance. Trapped within a cylindrical medical pod.
Dredd reached out to the control panel and entered the release sequence. The containment pod hissed loudly, equalizing the pressure to match its exterior. The sedation liquid poured from the pod, washing across the floor. Anderson lay inside the pod while the fluid drained around her. Her blond, wet hair clung around her face, hiding the bruises that dotted her pale features. Dredd marched though the fluid, spraying it around with each infuriated step. The top of the hissed as it opened. The lower portion eased into the floor, leaving Anderson lying unconscious on the platform. Dredd grabbed a sheet from the exam bed and marched up onto the platform. He wrapped the sheet around Anderson's drenched body and carefully lifted her into his arms. He unconsciously noted her decreased weight as her head rolled onto his shoulder.
"Dredd to control. Request medics to my location." he ordered. "Located Judge Anderson."
"Copy that, medics en route."
Against his shoulder, Anderson moaned. Her eye lids drew open a small fraction. Her lips parted as she tried to speak. Her voice was quiet and hoarse. "D-dr-edd?"
Dredd glanced down at her. "I got you kid."
That was one of the rules Dredd served. AS a Judge, there was a target on their backs. But Anderson was not a target. Any perp that decided otherwise quickly suffered the consequences. Anderson was off limits.
holy cow it's been a while. sorry guys. got any prompts and I'll try to bring this back to life.
