Chapter Nineteen

Ready… Set…

FIGHT!

Jia was strong. That much was obvious. Her speed and ferocity was unmatched, but I am furious. She has ruined my life far too long. And it helps being able to water bend.

"Someone…has been… busy." Jia pants, not bothering to wipe the sweat from her brow.

"I… could say… the same… about you." I gasp; we have been fighting for ages. I stall all the while planning my next move. First, strike hard with a right cross and follow quickly with left roundhouse kick. Bend water to block her parry and then blast with water.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Jia screams, interpreting my thoughts. She slices downwards, and I dodge her first blade only to see her other arcing through the air straight to my head. I slide under and snap up with water, encasing her arm in ice.

"You little-" I don't let her finish and with a hard kick to abdomen she is sent flying.

"Impossible! I have not been beaten since Ritlen! I am invincible." Jia shrieks, eyes wide a manic bloodlust, as she hacks off the ice.

"Jia, no one is invincible." And I fly towards her flipping over and striking her head with my fist; I feel something squish and blood drips from her head, staining her white hair red. Jia growls and with a flash of sliver; attacks me again. Grabbing a metal pole from a nearby trash bin, I parry her two swords and attempt to bang her over the head with it but her swords slice through the cheap metal and then cut two red lines into my shoulder. With a hiss I jump away and gingerly test the wound. Good, I'll live.

"Come on Jia! I knew you were weak; but this is unbelievable." I taunt her. When she is angry; she gets sloppy. I hope.

"You will die for you insolence and your pathetic belief that you can beat me!" Jia roars. Perfect, she is becoming uneasy and… scared.

"What are you even fighting for Jia, revenge? And what if you die? Who will care? No one. When you die no one will mourn for you; no one would even care." I say cruelly.

"THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN!" She screams, and brashly attacked me. Jia was slipping; her attacks became predictable, the strength weakens and her speed slowed. I slip under one blade and using my forearm carefully but quickly twist her sword out of her grasp.

"No matter. There is a reason I fight with two." And taking both hands on the guard she swings it again. With one high kick it clatters to ground, using water from the sewer I create a whip that snakes towards her. One, two, three times she dodges it, but on the fourth it ensnares her legs. I plant my feet and bending my wrists yank her to the ground. Hurriedly I freeze her legs, essentially trapping her. Jia's face; for the second time in my life, becomes terrified.

"N-no. N-n-o." Jia whispers. I walk closer to her and soon I am an arm's length away.

"I-it c-can't end l-like this. I-i-I won't let it e-e-end like this." Jia's voice cracks and her eyes are wide with terror. Suddenly she yanks out a dagger and it gleams toward my stomach. With a simple flick of my wrist I send it clanking to the ground.

"I was just a kid when I meet you Jia; and not a day goes by that I regret helping you. You and me; we did terrible things, and we were just kids. You taught me cruelty and hate. You taught me that the world was unfair and the only to survive was to stay on top. Jia, you were wrong. My friends taught me, compassion and empathy and kindness. That the world was still fair and good; if you had fair and good people in it." As I speak I remember how it was when in those days; and realize how terrible we really were.

"So what? Now are you going to kill?" She sneers half-heartedly.

"Four weeks ago, I would have. Four weeks ago; I still believed in what you taught me. But now, I see how corrupt and wrong you were; and now is the chance to change that. So I am going to do something worse than kill you."

"And what's that?" Jia asks, terrified.

"I am handing you over to chief Beifong." And despite her protests I slowly freeze her hands and feet together. And after listening to her continuous pleading and begging; I freeze her mouth shut to. After a short while, I do call the police and they arrive with the standard zip of cables.

"Kida, I gotta say it. Good work Kid." Beifong haltingly tells me. I sigh; it doesn't feel like good work.

"Good work? I just fought a manic for hours and have become gravely injured and that is the thanks I get. Good work?" I say joking. In reality; I am too exhausted to care. My shoulders are burning, I should bandaged it soon, I just died and came back and I still have work to do.

"I need to go." Is all I say as I tiredly walk off, thinking back to what had just happened. I felt drained, not just physically but emotionally too. My whole life has been a lie; so to speak. Not only that but… I still had to go tell Korra, Tenzin, Mako, Bolin and Asami about… Ritlen. I won't be surprised when they arrest me; but I just hope they won't hate me.

A/N: Do I not have the best cliffhangers. So here's what I want you guys to do, I want you to review; the basic what you like/hate. But then I want you to say what you think will happen and such. I also would love to have your feelings on Jia. And last but not least I want to know what y'all think is the big deal about RITLEN! The first person to answer all of the above will get the correct answers, so REVIEW!
