A/N: Here's chapter 2! I was going to update last night but laziness kicked in. Enjoy!
Sam stared at the child in his ex-girlfriend's arms, unsure of what to make of her.
"So...he's my daddy?" The girl asked, pointing at Sam, who gave a soft smile, and Shaelyn, who nodded.
"How old is she?" Sam asked, brushing a strand of brown hair out of Dani's face, already feeling a strong connection to the girl.
"She's three and a half. Remember that year you had to hunt down that shape shifter? She turned three in January, the 3rd, about six months ago."
"Oh yeah, now I remember that day, but why didn't you tell me?"
"Because you'd have always been gone constantly and I had this constant nagging feeling that you would just leave and not come back, or you'd make me go with you..and constantly being on the road, in crappy motels, leaving her at friend's houses, is not a good environment to raise a child. You'd know that better than anyone."
Sam sighed, "well now i'm not taking no for an answer. Come with us."
Dean was finished examining the body when Sam, Shaelyn, and Daniella came back into the room.
"So, what's the prognosis oh great one?" The younger Winchester asked sarcastically.
Dean glared, "We are definitely looking at a demon's work, Sammy. You and I need to see someone and fast." He said, looking up and set his sights on Shaelyn and the small child before looking back at his brother.
"What the..?"
"Yeah, Dean? Our small duo has just turned into a quartet."
The thirty-five-year-old gave Sam a wary, confused look.
Sam sighed, "Dean, meet Shaelyn and Daniella, our new members."
Within minutes, Sam and Dean were in Shaelyn's office, arguing with each other.
"Why the hell do you wanna bring them? I understand why you want to bring Shae, but a kid? They're liabilities. Are you out of your freaking mind?"
"It's for Daniella's protection." Sam stated, trying to keep his voice low.
"Who the hell is Daniella?" Dean asked, glaring at his brother.
"My daughter. I just found out about her today."
"Sure she's yours?" Dean asked, looking out the window at the child who sat in a chair besides Shaelyn, who had a worried expression on her features.
Sam rolled his eyes before smacking Dean upside the head.
"Look at her, Dean! She's like a carbon copy of me...well, except for the complexion."
Dean glared at him.
If looks could kill, Sam would be dead a thousand times over.
"You have a kid though? I'm hurt you didn't tell me, Sammy." Dean said, putting a hand over his heart, mocking a hurt expression.
"It's not funny, Dean! These demons will stop at nothing until they get her."
Dean sighed, "what do they want with a kid anyway?"
Sam gave his brother an 'are you fucking kidding me?' look.
"Oh right, the blood and the demon with ESP crap."
Sam sighed, resisting the urge to punch his brother in the face.
"I'm concerned for their safety, especially Dani's."
"Jesus Sam! You've known you were a father for all of ten minutes. You still have feelings for Shae, don't you?"
"So, what if I do? It's not like you don't have any feelings for any of your ex-girlfriend's."
"Well I don't bring them with us!"
For what seemed like the umpteenth time, Sam sighed, running a hand through his brown hair in frustration.
"I know how to settle this...rock, paper, scissors. Best two out of three. If I win, they come with us." He explained, trying to come to a reasoning.
As if on cue, both boys exchanged moves in the game, and as always, Sam won with rock, while Dean lost with scissors.
"Always with the scissors, Dean."
Dean sighed, "Alright, we leave first thing tomorrow morning."
