Chapter I - Omens
After hours of sleepless tossing and turning, I gave up, and went downstairs. I lived with my parents and grandmother, in a suburban community. I sat down on the couch, flipped open my phone, and checked my messages.
After about a half hour of just laying their in the silence my phone began to ring. "Hello?" I answered. "She'll be here soon, Jack" a female voice said. The line went dead. "What" I wispered. I didn't know if I was dreaming or not. "Who was that" I wondered "and how did she know my name?". I had an uneasy feeling, but ignored it.
I looked down at my watch. "Six thirty" I said to myself "time to get ready". I sighed, and went upstairs to get my stuff. Once I had everything I left for school.
I zipped up my jacket, the air was crisp and cool. I walked at a brisk pace, I was early. I stopped and sat down by a three way stop sign. This is were I met my friends before we walked to school. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the pale sunshine. I sat like that for a while.
"Your up early" a familiar voice said, making me open my eyes. It was my childhood friend, Amber. She was about 5'7, had shoulder length fire red hair, and had sharp features. She was wearing a light denim vest and a long sleeve striped shirt. "Had trouble sleeping" I said with a smile. "Here come the twins" she said. I got to my feet, we would be leaving soon. The twins, Percy and Pierce, greeted us with their usual mischievous smiles. It wasn't long before Sarah, the last in our group, showed up.
When we arived at school we separated and got to class. Most of my day went normally. That changed once I got to history. After ten minutes I fell asleep. I herd a feminine voice in my head. "She's scared, Jack." it said "She needs you.". "What are you talking about?" I said "who?". "You will see her soon" the voice whispered.
The bell woke me up. "What's going on?" I whispered to myself "The phone this morning? That dream?". I pushed the thought out of my head.
It was raining when I got out of school. I walked quickly down the road. I was alone, my friends' parents picked them up. Mine were probably at work. I don't mind, I love rain. About halfway home I got a headache. As I continued my head pounded worse and worse. I began to hear whispering in the back of my head. "Your fate swiftly approaches!" A voice screamed. My heart was beating fast, I ran, my vision blurring. My head felt like it was trying to crush my brain.
I finally got to my house and slammed the door shut. I sank to my knees, breathing hard, heart racing. My head stopped pounding and I caught my breath. I sat up and listened... nothing. Suddenly the voice from my dream popped into my head. "She's here" it said.
