Apokolips
Conner's POV
"Clark Kent? But that's impossible," Conner said. An eerie feeling passed through him.
The young man smiled, "Oh. I'm not your Clark Kent. I'm from a different universe."
Conner took sometime to absorb the words, "Different universe? But how? Which one?"
"Earth Prime. I was kind of ripped away from it. Very complicated," Clark said, "I just remember battling along side Luthor and then I was thrown into a wormhole. No doubt the speed force."
"Speed Force?"
"Wow. You are an idiot," he responded. His voice heavy with hatred and disdain, "Not much better than the other Conner, but I guess you're still young. Listen, the Speed Force is this inter-dimensional entity that gives the speedsters through out the universes powers. Someone from this universe must've messed with it."
"I… Still don't understand," Conner said.
"You are one stupid clone," Conner's eyes widened, "Oh don't worry. I know. Anyway, Someone from this universe must be trying to manipulate the speed force. That's why I was probably pulled through here."
"You've met other me?"
"Yes. Although you are all dumbasses in every universe. Anyway, I hypothesize Darkseid is trying to manipulate the Force. HE must want a vast amount of energy released. He would need to rip another shred in reality to do this though. Very dangerous."
"How do you know all of this?"
"I am a friend with Luthor. Smart man."
"A Luthor? What are you? A villain," Conner asked, half joking.
"Oh no. I'm a super. A Kent. I'm good. So is Luthor. His universe is good," he said. Conner didn't trust him. Clark had a crazy look in his eyes. Conner would catch him staring at him. He had a bad feeling.
The Watchtower
Barbara's POV
Dick's back hit the matt hard. His air left his lungs
"You're out of practice," she said. Lending him a hand
"It's been a while, BG. I haven't exactly done much crime fighting in months," Dick responded.
She cast him an angry look, "Then maybe you shouldn't have left."
Dick walk towards already regretting his next few words, "I had to."
She turned around fast, whipping her hair against his face, "You had to? You did not. Everything around here has been falling apart. M'gann has been locked in her room for a long time. Robin is becoming a miniature Batman. He talks less everyday."
He quickly despised himself for what he was about to say, "What about you?"
"ME! I have been devastated. You never called just to talk. It is always business. FUCKING business. And now you bring in your little protégé and just rejoin the team like it's nothing!" she screamed.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it to cause so many problems. I especially never meant to hurt you," Dick said, "And I brought Rose in because she needs a mentor."
"You hurt me Dick. And it sucks," Barbara said," And then I find Bette at your apartment right after you disappear."
Dick's eyes widened, "Honestly. I was just being a friend to her. I love you Babs."
"God. You're lucky you are cute Grayson," she said. She had missed him a lot. More then she was willing to admit. Yeah maybe she did love him. But did that really matter. They did have each other in the long run.
She didn't know when it happened exactly, maybe it was both of them knowing that they could be getting Wally back. But they were kissing.
El Paso, CA
Artemis' POV
Tomorrow. Tomorrow she was going to get Wally back. No. She might be getting him back. She couldn't get her hopes up.
She had spent the last few hours pacing across her living room. Her thoughts were invading her head. Every time she cleared her mind, his face would pop up. The pale skin, with freckles splashed across his face. That fiery hair. Damn. She was doing it again.
She had gotten a called from his parents earlier today. They had maintained in touch, even after his death. Was he dead? The specifications were a bit blurred. She hoped he was alive.
She had gotten a call from Dick. He had told her he had rejoined the team. He had also brought a new protégé with him. Artemis doubted Barbara would be taking his appearance well.
She wondered whether Dick would assume the role of leader. Kaldur was a very good leader, but he would be better centered if he joined the Justice League. Dick was better with the youngsters.
She just had to wait one more day.
Mt. Justice
Cassie's POV
She missed the cave. She remembers when she first joined. It had been a very exciting day for her. She had met the team. She remembers Nightwing being very nice to her. She had a crush on Nightwing for a brief time. Then she began dating Robin. That ended badly. And now she sort have liked Conner.
In the two days since Conner's kidnapping. Things had gone downhill for Cassie. Just yesterday, she had broken up with Robin. It had been terrible.
It had started with him telling her that he just didn't have the same feelings he had in the beginning. Then he told her that he knew she liked Conner. He wasn't mad. In fact he even admitted to having a crush on a different girl.
Okay so maybe it hadn't been all that terrible. Sort of relieving. Her and Robin had ended on good terms.
Too bad Conner was off somewhere on Apokolips. She didn't want to think negatively because then it got terrible. Her imagining the terrible things Conner must be going through. No! She had to get her emotions on check. She had a big mission coming up in the next few hours.
She was chosen as one of the people to go to the North Pole and retrieve Wally. Nightwing was definitely going. She had missed Nightwing. He was a good leader and always had treated her very nicely. Kaldur had done that too, but he just didn't connect with the younger heroes. All of the new inclusions to the team had been very weird and last minute.
They had recruited Cyborg. He was technically part of the team, but spent most of his time helping the League. Then there was Red-Hood. He was once Robin until the Joker had killed him. Now he was back and she could tell there was tension between Nightwing and him. Star-girl was also a new addition. No one new her real name except probably Batman. Conner introduced her one-day and she just stayed on the team.
There was also Rose Wilson or Ravager. She was the daughter of Deathstroke. Cassie thought that was very unlucky for Rose. But now, she guessed, that Nightwing was going to mentor her. The last addition to the team had been a young man. He was about Nightwing's age. His name was Kyle Rayner. He was a green lantern. That was pretty cool.
The team had changed so much. She heard rumors that a new girl would be joining them soon. Cassie hoped the girl was her age. She sat on top of the now almost renewed mountain. A couple more days and the team would be back at headquarters.
Watchtower
Dick's POV
Fifteen hours and they would be getting Wally back. The last couple of days had been very emotionally draining. During the dinner he had prepared the previous night, Rose had gotten very defensive. She had refused to talk to Bette.
Afterwards Dick had taken Bette home and they had talked. Eventually Dick told Bette that nothing was going to happen because he was in love with Barbara. She smirked at him and told him it had taken long enough for him to realize.
He was still recovering from some of the injuries. He had talk to Bruce about what Vandal had said. Dick thought that Vandal knew his secret identity. Bruce had agreed with him. They had talked about stuff and Bruce had told him that taking Rose in was a bad idea. Dick had just told him, it was for a bit. Until she got on her feet and starting being a hero.
He was currently sitting at the computer going through files that could maybe save Conner. So far he had a few things on Apokolips. Ruled by Darkseid. It was far away from Earth. Only real way to get to the planet was through a boom tube. So far Viktor, one of the new additions, had been working on a boom tube. It would take him a couple of days to finish the boom tube.
Dick was really out of practice. Taking minor thugs from Bludhaven's streets didn't really keep him in shape.
He was lost in his research. He didn't notice the person approach until the very last moment.
"Wow. You're still the same,"
Dick turned, startled by the speaker, "Oh. Hey Donna. How are you?"
"Not much. Just hanging around. Worried about you and Cassie."
"Why me?"
"Oh just that you and Babs don't seem on good terms. You just came back from your leave of absence. How is she taking it?"
"Well she took it well. Not a lot of yelling. I think we will be okay," Dick stared at the screen.
"Do you know where Cassie is at?"
"I think she said something about heading out to revisit some old memories. This thing with Conner, she really blames herself."
"Alright. Thanks. I have to go talk to her," Donna started to walk out, "You, Wally, and I should hang out after we get him back. Like old times."
Dick looked up and smiled, "Of course! Well see you later, Donna."
"Bye Nightwing," she left him with his thoughts.
Dick went back to his research. They energy absorber was ready. No all they needed was the speedsters. Yep tomorrow was going to be an eventful day.
Gotham City
Bruce's POV
Tonight had been an eventful night. He was currently chasing a Bane down the streets. Apparently Bane used a new kind of venom. It made him stronger and faster.
Bruce grunted as he landed on the lower building. His legs pumping underneath him, driving him faster. Running at full speed, he jumped off the roof and summersaulted to the next building. Bane was still two full buildings a head.
He ran with a great form, his lungs expanded completely allowing the perfect amount of oxygen. Bruce had turned crime fighting into an art. He used his momentum and his cape to glide through the air and land on top of Bane. He quickly cut the tubes the fed him the venom. Bane simply grabbed Bruce's cape and threw him down. Bruce's eyes widened. He rolled as Bane's foot stomped. Bruce quickly stood and threw batarangs at Bane. Bane should've slowed down. The venom had been cut.
"Wondering why I am not returning to my weak state?" Bane asked.
Bruce didn't respond. Instead he threw smoke bombs and used his grappling hook to tie Bane's legs.
Bane laughed," I am not the same. I am more powerful. He has given me a gift. And he is coming."
"Who? Darkseid?" Bruce asked. Moving around trying to incapacitate the behemoth man.
"Darkseid. HA! Darkseid is nothing compared to my lord. You will pay Batman. But not today," Bane caught Bruce by the cape and threw him over the building.
Bruce quickly grappled back to the building, but Bane was gone. And only questions were left.
North West of Bialya
Unknown POV
He stood on the other side of the portal. The energy was still not at the peak point for him to crossover. His rage kept getting higher. He had already bestowed powers upon to humans.
His thoughts were interrupted, "Master. It is almost ready."
"Very good. And what does this, Darkseid, know?"
"Nothing. I have been very careful. Bane has bestowed the Bat. Our powers are exceptional."
He sneered, "Of course they are. Now be gone. I need time to plot my return."
"Yes master."
The servant left, leaving the evil creature alone, "Vandal very come through with his end of the bargain. I will return. And no one will be able to stop me!"
