Water Cavern
He built sandcastles as a little boy.
When he did learn how to swim, he fell in love with the ocean. Water became his favorite element, "Young master, please do not wander too far off coast," his butler advised. Sasuke nodded without any intention of heeding said advice. There's just so much to explore beyond the seas. His eyes fixed on a water cavern not too far away, "Especially there," the butler pointed.
The moon was full and bright. The sky was starless but not dark. Sasuke dismissed the guards on duty and wandered along the shore alone. Black boots sunk deeper into soft sand with every step and when it almost touched the waves, he stopped. In front of him was an empty boat, equipped with two sturdy oars. Fists knocked and he deemed the boat strong. Dark eyes landed once again on the water cavern. The young man hesitated but curiosity got the better of him.
With the intent to explore, he pushed the boat into the calm sea.
The cavern glowed with a mystical aura and it enthralled him. It was quiet but oddly, did not feel empty. The waters were still and clear and when he looked into them, his lips parted slightly, eyes widened.
Sasuke couldn't quite make up what those were- those things were swimming in loops, playing with each other, "What?" His low whisper magnified and echoed throughout the place, causing the creatures beneath him to look up, shocked.
Most swam away, while few rushed up and hit violently against his wooden boat. Sasuke lost all balance and capsized. It was all too sudden and all he could see were bubbles, and red and claws. Hands waved and legs kicked frantically but to no avail. Something was gripping his ankles, stopping him from swimming to the surface. He struggled for air. Then, the water turned into a darker red as a wave of pain shot through him when something sharp pierced the side of his belly. More red, and then flashes of pink and green. The grip on his ankle loosen and he was pushed to a wet rock. He allowed air to enter his lungs and applied pressure on his wound before taking in the whole scene of two creatures in the middle of a feud, "Mermaids," He huffed.
Both mermaids turned to him.
The one with menace all over her face glanced at him one last time before swimming off. He was left with the other; entirely alone in a quiet, secluded cavern. As she swam closer, he backed away. She pulled herself onto the rock and stilled, afraid to stir more panic in him. Sasuke stopped backing away and took in her features. Her flapping fin had a pearly green glow, hair rosy pink with exotic shells as deco. Her emerald eyes were benign.
After allowing Sasuke to access the whole situation, she offered him a gentle smile and came closer. This time, Sasuke did not move. Gently, she removed his hands from his wound and laid hers instead. His eyes reflected a blue glow, "Magic..." His statement sounded more of a question. The mermaid nodded. There was no pain, only a tinge of coldness and his injury vanished.
When she was done, the beauty removed her palms and backed away slowly. Mesmerized by her entire being and grateful for her rescue, Sasuke grabbed her by the wrist, making her jump in shock, "Thank you," A smirk graced his features while a smile graced hers. He leaned in closer and could feel her breathing rapidly, "Shouldn't I be the one afraid?" He voiced in a playful tone. Fingers tugged strands of pink locks behind her ear, "You have really green eyes," The mermaid only nodded, "Do you speak?" She nodded again, "Hn, what's your name?"
Her rather relaxed figure shot up and she backed away, "I-I'm afraid I can't tell," Her voice sounded like heaven's sirens.
"Why?" He crept closer.
"It's a rule," Concern in her eyes.
"A rule?" An eyebrow raised.
"If ever a mortal knows of a mermaid's maiden name, he will have full control over her for eternity," Her hands clenched together, "That's why some of us hate humans."
"So your friend-"
"My sister," She corrected.
"Your sister tried to kill me. But, why did you save me?"
"I-you just didn't seem like a bad one."
"Aa, what if you thought wrongly?" He tried.
"I, can finish you," She said haughtily, flashing him her sharp nails.
"Then, if you know my name, will you have control over me?" His eyes rested upon her plum lips.
"N-no." Her bright eyes turned dark upon realizing the close distance between them.
"Sasuke," He cupped her face, "My name is Sasuke," He pressed his lips against hers and tasted hot sweetness. Something in him sparked and the connection deepened, he could feel her reciprocating the kiss with her arms wrapped around him. Her lips were warm yet her skin was cold. He let out a moan when she pushed him away, "L-leave," Confusion took place.
"Please don't come back," A rush of sadness filled her eyes.
Then he saw her magnificent fin at a distance, "Hey!" He called out and she turned, "I'll be back!" She only shook her head, "I will!" He reaffirmed.
Two young men rested on white sand under a shady tree.
"Shisui," Sasuke called out to his cousin.
"Yes?"
"What do you know about mermaids?"
His cousin stared hard at him, "If you've met one and fallen for her, I say, forget her," His voice stern, "Nothing good will come out of it, cousin," His lips formed a grim line.
"Relax, I was just asking," He put on a light laugh.
"Never get too curious little cousin. You don't want the fate of your uncle," Shisui warned again. Sasuke nodded, with dark eyes drifting towards the water cavern.
