"So Kai, I have to admit I wasn't expecting you to actually turn up." Said ray to the back of Kai's head. He was met with silence so shrugged his shoulders and turned to the others.
"This is so exciting. Last time we were here we only saw London." He grinned.
"Yeah, I've heard of Cambridge before, I think it's where all the smart people live." Max smiled.
"That's partially true Max. You see the two top-ranking Universities in the United Kingdom are Oxford and Cambridge and they are understandably difficult to get into so in that sense-"
"Aw man I can't wait!" Tyson interrupted loudly causing Hillary to roll her eyes.
Kai stared out the window of the taxi and sighed. He had only decided at the very last minute to accept Mr Dickenson's invitation to reunite with his former team mates and part of him was already regretting it.
The view outside the vehicle changed from city, to greenery, to city again as they finally arrived in Cambridge. The taxi pulled up in front of a small house just outside the city centre. There were a few shops nearby and what looked like a huge garage a bit further up the road. The Bladebreakers got out and onto the pavement and had just reclaimed their luggage from angry taxi-man's boot when they heard a door open.
"Helloooooooo!" Came a loud high-pitched voice. They turned to see a girl they recognised from Mr Dickenson's photo.
"Hey, Raven right?" Ray asked holding out his hand to shake hers which she took and shook with vigour.
"That's me! And of course I know who all of you are! Welcome to Cambridge, how was your flight? That taxi driver looks super angry." She spoke so fast that it took a couple of seconds for them to register what she'd said.
"Erm, thanks it's great to be here, it was a pretty good flight, and yes he does but we don't know why." Max answered trying to work out if he responded to everything.
"Ah well, some people are just grumpy I guess." Raven smiled widely and began to help them with their bags.
"Oh we're well aware of that." Tyson grinned wickedly looking in Kai's direction. If Kai had heard Tyson's comment he didn't let on. He just picked his suitcase up and followed Raven, Max, and Ray into the house.
It was very nicely decorated which surprised the Bladebreakers as from the outside it didn't look like much. It was clear that a lot of love had gone into it. There were framed pictures in the hallway of various groups of people and everything was very clean. As they made their way into the living room they saw their other host at which point Kenny, who was already blushing from meeting Raven, fell flat on his face and started giggling. Zoya stood up from her place on the sofa and cocked her head to look at Kenny.
"Is he ok?" She asked with genuine concern, meanwhile Tyson was trying not to laugh,
"He'll be fine," Max smiled. "He doesn't handle attractive women well." Zoya raised an eyebrow.
"Bit of a weird way to word that sentence but alright." She smiled and moved towards the group holding her hand out, "my name's Zoya, it's wonderful to meet you all."
"You too." Said Max, shaking her hand first. When she came to Kai she put her hand down and simply nodded and smiled at him.
"Right well, first things first we have a bit of a space related situation." Raven said loudly from the kitchen as she walked into the living room with a bottle of milkshake, "as you can see it's not the biggest house in the world. We do have a spare room and we have jiggled the furniture around in there to make as much space as possible but we've only managed to fit four sleeping bags in there unless you want to be packed in like sardines and have nowhere to put your clothes." She smiled wickedly then took a sip of milkshake before carrying on, "so we thought maybe Hillary would be ok to stay in my room with me and the remaining guy could share with Zoya. Might sound a bit awkward but her room's a bit bigger than mine and it's L-shaped so you'd get more privacy in there than you would in mine."
"We weren't sure what you wanted to do so it's up to you who sleeps in the spare room and who sleeps on my floor." Zoya smiled.
"Cool," smiled Tyson. "Thanks so much for letting us stay you guys."
"Yeah, we'll talk about the sleep situation later. I'm dying for some food." Ray said looking over to others who nodded (all except Kai).
"Let us take you out somewhere," Raven suggested enthusiastically. "One of the best things about Cambridge is the variety of tasty food places." she smiled and bounced out into the hallway to get her coat.
