Hello my lovely readers, I'm finally back with an update. Hope it hadn't been too long. I have been busy and hadn't had the time to update. I had finished this chapter a few days ago but then I lost the internet connection.

If any of you read Blue Butterfly, I want to apologize cause I haven't updated in a while. I have the next chapter planned out but I'm in a bit of a block so I'm sorry about that.

Anyways, the next week will be filled with finals so I don't think the next update will be in a while. I'll see what I can do but for now, here's the next chapter!

"You want them to do what?!"

They finally got a reaction out of Klaus. Stefan shrugged. "We need to do something." "Why would we waste perfectly good blood bags? Could we drink them instead, then burn the room?"

Rebekah, still wide-eyed from Stefan's suggestion, scowled at Caroline. "Of course we can't. Don't you get it? Stefan's trying to create a diversion. Either to whoever is investigating this case or the killers."

"So it won't make a difference whether I drink from it or not," Caroline said nonchalantly. "They would know it's the work of vampires if the blood bags ended up empty."

But Klaus still didn't get it. "You can't just burn up a hospital to create some ludicrous diversion. I know you're desperate Stefan, but what if the wrong people caught whiff of what we're doing?"

"We won't," Stefan said. "We'll send the girls in as patients, make some sort of accident that requires an over-night stay."

"I don't think this will work," Caroline shrugged as she twirled her pasta with her fork nonchalantly.

"And why not?"

"Because if anyone who did this is half the professional you say they are they will caught a whiff of what you're doing," she paused for dramatic effects, watching Stefan and Klaus frowned. " They will figure it out. What are chances after mass murders were committed, some random hospital just got blown-up, in the blood supply nonetheless."

"Well Caroline does make a great point. Whoever these people are, they used blood as a distraction, they'd know if we're using the same methods," Klaus agreed. "It's just something I thought could work," Stefan finally said with a shrug.

Rebekah played with the rim of her wine glass. "It's a bloody good idea actually. We have to risk something to get something right?" Her eyes wandered to Stefan's. They seemed to have conversed as they stared at each other. "Let them fidget around for awhile, knowing someone is on to them."

"I'm sure there are better ways to do such things, dear sister." Klaus waved his hands around, dismissing Rebekah thoughts.

"Why?"

He scoffed. "Rebekah I'm not willing to risk anything right now, not until we know who we're dealing with. These people could strike anytime and I need more information to determine the right moves we need to make."

"We don't have time, Klaus. Rebekah's right, we haven't gotten anything this last few days. Unless we're going to make a move, we're sitting ducks."

"Don't you think I know that?" Rebekah sneered. "Clearly you don't."

"I thought we're here to eat, not argue," Caroline snapped. "No offense to all of you, but with all your yapping, I can't really enjoy my food."

"Fine, fine. All I'm saying is this has been the only idea we came up with so far. You don't have to risk anything, only me if that would make you more comfortable, dear brother." She shot Klaus a glare. "Maybe you can lock me up, steal my daylight ring, thirst me of blood long enough to make me weak then burn me on the sun for a couple of hours. That way my healing process would take long enough for an overnight stay at the bloody hospital while you lot-acting like the caring brother and friends that you're supposedly are, visit me while I'm hospitalized, could sneak in unnoticed. Just for security measure, spread some blood on the corridors before you burn down half the hospital. Preferably as far away from my room as possible."

They all listened in silent, one by one acknowledging the possibilities. Everyone was too shocked to see Caroline's concerned expression hearing Rebekah brute of a plan. But as quick as it showed, it was replaced by an evil smirk.

"Alright, that might work. And if go along with this plan, I'm volunteering to be Rebekah's captor."

Rebekah threw Caroline a poisonous glare but otherwise said nothing.

"I didn't say anything about blowing up the whole place, just where they keep their blood supplies," Stefan muttered.

"I'm still not sure it would work," Klaus said. "But if we go with it, we have a bloody good cover."

Stefan looked concerned which warmed Rebekah's heart a little. "Are you sure you want to go that deep?"

"The way I see it, why not. I want to finish this as soon as possible so I could leave this God-forsaken place without some crazy killer running around."

"You could just leave, you know," Caroline interjected. "I mean, no offense to our little truce but why are you really here Rebekah?"

Klaus frowned. Where was Caroline going with this? "What are you talking about?" His sister scoffed.

An eyebrow raised, but Caroline's gaze at Rebekah never faltered. "You can walk away right this second without worrying about killers running around but you chose not to. You chose to follow Stefan's fucked-up plan. Why?"

Another frown, his sister froze. But Caroline already started, he knew she won't stop. From experience he knew how Caroline was. He was once in love with her, for Chris sake. He knew how she handled things. How she could talk forever about something she believed in. And whatever deduction she'd concluded about his sister, she wasn't stopping until she got her point across. And whatever point it was, he knew his sister wouldn't be too happy with it.

"If you ask me, I came to this roller-coaster ride of an investigation because this is a threat to me. Some crazy supposedly-supernatural killer with a closet full of bloody skulls running around could start eating vampires, then my life would be in danger. While you and Klaus, you're both Originals. It's not a threat to you unless they have a white-oak stake, which I doubt they do, yet you volunteered to help with this plan. But not only that, you also volunteered to put yourself in harm way. As if this plan has to work," Caroline paused, smirking a little when she saw Rebekah pissed off. "Now that is something we should talk about. That maybe the enemy is not that far away."

"What about Klaus? This is not a threat to him too!" His sister spat, pointing a perfectly-manicured finger his way.

Caroline shrugged. "Klaus has enough sense to know this wont work. He didn't press his case either. No offense Stefan."

Rebekah was on the verge of ripping Caroline's vein so he intervened. "Where are you going with this Caroline?"

But he should have known it wouldn't help. Caroline grinned, making Rebekah more pissed than before.

"Maybe your sister had something to do with it, who-" But before Caroline could finish, Rebekah had jumped the girl and they both fell down with a loud thud.

He watched as his sister scratch Caroline's cheek, Caroline retaliated by yanking Rebekah's locks, making his sister scream. People had turned from their chair to witness with the commotion and Stefan already stood up to help. He tried yanking Rebekah's arm since she was atop of Caroline, throwing a punch at Caroline's cheek. Caroline kicked both her legs as the pain started searing in, hitting Stefan in the chest, sending the older vampire get thrown across the room. Klaus chuckled a little, seeing Stefan's annoyed face as he hit the brick wall but he'd flashed back next to him as soon as he got his bearing.

"Klaus do something!"

He contemplated which way to go. He could jump in, try stopping the fight which would get him some hit from the girls or he could simply watch with the other humans in the room. He chose the later as Rebekah shoved Caroline's body to the nearest wall, causing a lot of gasp and Caroline's cussing as her head hit the wall.

Stefan sighed, walking pass his chair to where Caroline and Rebekah were still fighting. Klaus heard his mutter as Stefan shook his head.

"So much for a quiet dinner..."

The car ride back to Mystic Falls was filled with tense silence. Klaus had Caroline seated on the passenger seat next to him while Stefan was restraining Rebekah's temper in the back. Both girls' were mused up everywhere, blonde curls sticking up. Their cheeks bloodied from scratches and slaps, their clothes ruined by sweats, blood and the wine Stefan had dumped onto them in an effort to stop the fight. Caroline's jacket had lost both its sleeves, the small black beads that used to decorate the area around her shoulder had disappeared from the trashing and shoving. Rebekah's outfit had lost its shape so Klaus had shed his jacket to cover his sister's badly beaten-up body, leaving blood marks on the once-flawless leather.

Even inside the car, Rebekah had tried to scratch Caroline's eyes out, followed by Caroline's attempt in trying to rip out Rebekah's vein. Klaus and Stefan were left to do the only thing they came up with in the middle of nowhere without having one of them-or both of them-dead on the way back to Mystic Falls; they grabbed the rope from the car's trunk and tied both girls to their seats.

A blues playing softly on the stereo, as the faint sound of Stefan humming along the soulful plea. Klaus was too focused on the road ahead to notice anything else, even with Caroline's loud grumbling and cussing about how long the journey would take. Rebekah's heels tapping along Stefan's hum, a soft smile playing on her lips as she watched Stefan eyes closed in concentration. Suddenly the car made a screeching noise.

They all noticed it at the same time, courtesy of their vampire hearings. Klaus lost control of the car, trying to break to the left. The car made a deafening sound, smoke coming out from the front of the black car ended up breaking to the right, hitting a tree along the way, causing the car to a sudden stop.

The hit didn't cause any injury, but the shock from the hit quieted them all, creating another silence.

It was a new car, one of the finest in the generation at that. It was Elijah's after all, his older brother cared more about safety than looks. And from what he'd gathered when they were looking for the rope, it was the car Elijah and Katerina used for travels. There was suitcase filled with Elijah's clothing, a small bag full of women toiletries, some maps and a cooler box full of blood bags on the back. He hadn't cared about which of Elijah's car he used, he somewhat felt grateful for choosing this one, if it took forever, some of them may need to blood.

"Why don't we just get out of the car and assess the damage?" Stefan suggested.

The four of them groggily got out, breathing in the crisp Virginian air. The road was deserted expect for the occasional passing car.

"Shouldn't we hitchhike back to town?" Caroline asked, drawing her jacket closer.

"If we're lucky," Stefan muttered.

"No, Stefan. If we're lucky, we would find some bloody drunken fools, hijack their car back to town then compel them to forget everything. It would be a win-win. They would be on their merry way and we find a way back," he said.

"Okay, I'm on the hitchhiking duty with Rebekah while you boys check out the car." Caroline dragged Rebekah a short distance until they were far enough not to smell the smoke coming out of the car.

Klaus' phone suddenly rang as he and Stefan went to the car. The crash caused a nasty dent on the European SUV, one that would cause Elijah to be pissed but he didn't care then. All he wanted to find out was why he'd lost control. He was a decent driver and he knew it, he had plenty of time to learn to drive. He didn't get why humans would rely on their drivers to drive their hundred-thousand dollars cars when they were capable of driving themselves. He guessed it had something to do with pride but if you can't enjoy the luxury of driving those amazing cars, why bought them? Why let other people enjoy them?

He looked at the screen for a moment, remembering the phone was still ringing. He noticed it was from an unknown number. He was a bit reluctant to pick it up, remembering his stranger, if not faked, phone call from Finn.

Stefan raised an eyebrow when he just stared at the ringing device. There was no way he would let Stefan knew that his supposedly-dead brother was calling him. This situation was weird enough, he didn't want to make the younger Salvatore more worried than he already was. He turned from Stefan, holding his phone in front of Stefan before walking away in search of privacy.

But then he picked it up and an explosion erupted from behind him. The ringing from his ear and the fact that the ground rattled brought him to the conclusion that the explosion had been close. And he wasn't wrong.

The explosion had came from the car.

As if one major blow up wasn't enough, all four of them watched as the car was engulfed in flames. Glass shattered surrounded them accompanied by the loud sound of Rebekah's cry of surprise. Something wrong was happening and he suspected it had everything to do with the mass murders.

"What the bloody hell just happened?" His sister finally broke the silence.

"Looks like someone messed with the car while we were inside," Stefan said after a long pause.

But Klaus didn't like that. "But how did they know where we're going?"

Nobody had the answer to that.

There shouldn't be anyone on their tail, they had just started the investigation. Nobody was supposed to know their whereabouts, nobody was supposed to know the Originals were back in town, let alone Caroline being alive.

"Maybe they followed us from Mystic Falls," Stefan said.

"But nobody's supposed to know we're in Mystic Falls," Caroline interjected, crossing her arm in front of her chest.

"I have to agree with Caroline on this one, Stefan. If they didn't know what to look for, they wouldn't follow us. They wouldn't know about us."

He frowned. "We all know that. That's something we know. I need something we don't know. Like who they are, what their motives but I suspect we won't find any answers while standing in the middle of nowhere."

"So what do you want to do? It's not like we could teleport back to your freaking mansion?" Caroline glared.

"Actually we could, remember?" Klaus taunted.

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"We could always run back."

Both Stefan and Rebekah seemed to agree but Caroline shook her head violently. "Seriously?! I'm so not running back to town in six inch heels!"

"So take off your shoes!" Rebekah said exasperatedly.

"Do you know how many cars use this road? Not only that, but there must be dogs and some leaked oil, who knew what people dumped in roads like this?"

Stefan sighed. "Do you want to use my shoes?"

Caroline only glared at him.

Klaus sighed. "So what do you want Caroline?"

"Let's just hitch a ride! That way nobody needs to run! I know you're a wolf and everything, you guys have this fondness of running but I'm a vampire and-" but Caroline didn't get to finish her rant as Klaus threw her over his shoulder before flashing out of there, followed by Stefan and Rebekah.

As they ran, Caroline's scream of protests accompanied them back to town.
