Finally got around to writing this chapter. I'm soooo sorry it took this long to get the next chapter out! I really hope you enjoy it, and I appreciate you all waiting so patiently for me to update. So without any further delay, let's get started!

Martha was panicking. A million thoughts were going through her mind all at once.

"How did this happen? How will I hide this from the kids? Why did Yusei lose control now, of all times? How will I explain this to Jack? Will Jack pull through…?"

She kept a close watch on his heart monitor as she ran over to close and lock the door to the infirmary. Luckily, the rest of the children were still outside playing, so they didn't know what was happening, though they were probably worried. She checked the heart monitor again. Jack's heart rate had finally stabilized. She breathed a sigh of relief and tilted Jack's head slightly to the side to assess his wound

"The bite looks pretty deep…At least it's stopped bleeding though."

She grabbed a washcloth and very carefully wiped the blood from the wound. Jack winced in pain, but only for a moment. Martha placed a bandage over the wound to keep it from re-opening. Finally, finished with her task, she smiled and stood up, walking over to Yusei on the other bed. He was still unconscious.

"How did it ever come to this…That medicine was supposed to keep you from feeling the urge to feed."

Suddenly, she remembered what the man who gave her the medicine said.

"The only downside is that in younger vampires, especially former-humans, it can only work for so long. I'm not sure how long he can take this before it no longer works on him. Just know that once that day comes, he'll have to start feeding, whether he wants to or not…"

Her eyes widened. Had that day already come? Was the medicine already losing its effect? She shook her head, trying to find some way, some reason she could deny this fact, but there was none to be found. She tucked Yusei properly into the bed, and wiped the blood from his mouth.

"You've never tasted blood before this, have you, Yusei…? I bet you're feeling very satisfied, deep down. But, I know how you are. Once you realize what you've done, you'll go on hating yourself…I don't want you to feel that way, Yusei. Despite what you've become, you're still you, and nothing can ever change that. All of your friends will stand by you, no matter what, because you've stood by them all this time. At least, I hope that's the case…"

She glanced over her shoulder at Jack.

"Jack…I hope you can understand and forgive Yusei for this. He can't help what he is, but I pray that you can continue to stand by him. You two are like brothers, and it would be terrible if this tore you both apart. Please, find it in your heart to forgive him…"

As these words left her lips, a weak, but confident voice spoke up.

"I will, Martha. I could never hate Yusei."

Martha turned around, and to her surprise, saw Jack, awake, facing her in his bed.

"Like you said, he's pretty much my brother. Brothers fight all the time, right? They hurt each other…say and do things that they may not mean…We'll get through this for sure, and come out stronger than ever!"

Jack smiled weakly to reassure Martha. She just chuckled and wiped a tear from her eye.

"True to form, Jack…I'm really glad that you'll forgive him."

She stood up and walked over to Jack.

"You should go back to sleep. You need to recover from losing all that blood. And don't try moving around until I say you're well enough to do so! If I see you out of bed, I'll pummel you!"

Jack chuckled lightly.

"Right, right. I'll sleep some more then. But, make sure Yusei's alright, okay? I know you're probably worried more about me, but…"

Martha smiled at Jack's unusual thoughtfulness.

"I will, Jack. Now get some rest. I'll check in on you both later."
