Starfire was flying somewhere she had never been before.
She didn't understand why Robin was so touchy, but if he didn't trust those 2 they had met... that was good enough for her.
When it started to rain she decided she had to land, and proceed looking for him on foot. She landed on a huge estate, the land expanded in every direction, and in the center was a towering mansion, one that was 10 times the size of anything in her city.
She hadn't heard the alarm (no one could... unless you were a bat) and was completely bewildered when she ended up tied up before she blinked.
She struggled against her bonds, powering up her eyes and hands, but the ropes seemed to take her powers from her... she didn't even feel like she could break the bonds with her strength.
"Free me of this contraption!" She yelled at a shadowy figure.
"You're not in a position to make threats." A dark, girly voice answered.
"Free me, and I will not commence the kicking of your butt." Starfire warned.
"Save it alien. You're not getting out of there until I say so. And I say you need to stay right where you are." The voice told her, the figure stepped out of the shadows. She wore a black uniform with a black mask that made her look like some animal. Her chest was covered with a yellow symbol Starfire did not recognize. She also wore a cape, not unlike Robin's. "Now who are you? Why are you here?"
Starfire just continued to thrash around in the net. All it did was splash a few puddles.
"If you don't calm, I'll just sedate you. See how tough you are then." BatGirl pulled a serum out of her belt and flicked the needle.
"Your human needle will never pierce my skin." Starfire argued.
"This needle can pierce even Superman's skin... and you know what they say about him." Batgirl jibed at Starfire.
"What do they say about the Superman?" Starfire asked, genuinely curious as Robin never let them ask questions about him.
"You'll find out." Batgirl moved towards her with the needle before a disk was thrown and knocked it out of her hands... "Who?"
Out of nowhere a figure leapt, taking Batgirl by surprise and flipping her over his back.
The figure used the distraction to pull a knife type thing from his belt. He sliced at Starfire, who in turn screamed in fear, but was more than surprised to see her bonds fall away.
Another disk was flying, but this one came from Batgirl.
The new figure backflipped away from the batarang, and drew a staff. He kicked off from a small puddle, leaving a splash and went at Batgirl.
Batgirl hit her belt, which lit up yellow, right before the figure swung his staff and destroyed the light with his staff.
"You'll pay for that!" Batgirl kicked away the figure's staff and the fight began to become a fistfight.
The 2 seemed of equal levels of strength, but the figure seemed to have an edge with skill and knowledge.
Starfire knew she should help the figure, he had saved her after all, but she also felt like Batgirl was doing her job... she felt conflicted.
So she lay there while the rain poured.
Batgirl swung in with her foot, but the figure caught it and twisted her towards Starfire. He seemed distracted for a second, like he just realized he was about to seriously hurt Batgirl.
Batgirl took this distraction and kicked off with her other foot, and kicked the figure in the head.
The figure fell backward towards the light of the manor.
Batgirl drew 2 orbs from her belt and threw them at the figure.
There was a practically invisible rope tying these orbs together, and they went straight for the figure.
The figure was fast, he drew another knife-type object and threw it between the orbs, cutting the line perfectly, as it drifted closer to Batgirl it split, transforming into a type of bird and it flew high into the air, releasing a ridiculous squawk that was more annoying than Beast Boy.
The bird flew back to its owner, and he rebelted it.
"Who are you?" Batgirl demanded.
"You don't recognize me Barb?" The figure said, standing up and revealing his face.
"Richard..." Batgirl almost died right there... "How..?"
Starfire also recognized the face of the figure, filled with glee she got up and was about to rush to him when Batgirl turned on her, drawing a batarang in the process.
"Batgirl! Don't!" Batman's cold voice echoed.
Starfire froze... She didn't know the voice, but she knew the tone... it was the same way Robin would yell at Beast Boy when he messed up...
The Dark Knight appeared behind Batgirl.
"Let them leave. Now." Batman ordered.
Batgirl sheathed her batarang.
"Get out of here... Nightwing." Batman growled.
"Just leaving." The figure walked towards Starfire and put his arm around her waist, he raised his hand and shot a wire from it, flying away.
They landed on a building not to far away from Wayne Manor where they sat.
"Robin, where is your mask?" His eyes were covered by black sunglasses, hardly a mask. "Where is your uniform?"
"Star... I can't be Robin anymore."
"But you are Robin." Starfire reminded him.
"I used to be. But I need to leave Gotham behind... So, from now on, call me Nightwing... not Robin."
"What is wrong with my friend of boys?"
Nightwing almost laughed, the way she said things were hilarious sometimes.
"I'll explain it later. But first we've got to get back to the tower, we don't have much time."
"Why?" Starfire asked him.
"You've gotta trust me... The city's in danger."
She grabbed his hand and felt all the glee in the world, her powers answered her glee and allowed her to take flight towards their city.
