I Own Nothing

Hope you enjoy

As the years passed Frigga watched as Magenta grew from the small broken girl with the sad smile into a confident young woman with an eye for trouble. This eye for trouble was what landed Magenta in chains, being led down the halls of the great palace to the throne room.

She had severed her long black hair to a much shorter length and had gotten accustomed to wearing elbow length gloves and long flowing skirts to conceal her now scared arms and legs in a vain attempt to hide the fact that she was in fact different. It had taken her almost a year to venture out into the Asgardian sun, the brightness being near blinding. The shadows that had followed her to Asgard that fateful day still clung to her skin but now she had grown accustomed to their presence. Finding comfort in their wispy touch.

Once they reached the door to the queen's private study, the head guard turned to his apprentice, Fandral. "Go inside and inform the queen of our presence."

Fandral nodded dutifully as he slipped inside. The young blonde was a year older than Magenta and was very skilled with a sword. When she had first met the boy he was surprisingly shy for an Asgardian but as he grew in age so did he in confidence. Now he was an outgoing charmer who had a way with the ladies. The way that the bubbly teen girls threw themselves at the seventeen year old disgusted Magenta. Where was there self-worth? Their self-respect? Surely they realized that there was more to life then attaching themselves to some male's side? Sadly though it didn't appear to be the case.

A sudden movement from her left caught Magenta's attention. Snapping her head to the side she found herself staring into the eyes of a young man who looked no older than her own fifteen years. His pale skin was snow white in contrast to his raven black hair. His eyes were emerald green and shown with the promise of trouble as he held her gaze. The guard who held her in place gasped quietly before saying, "Prince Loki! Apologies I didn't see you there."

The young man, Loki, smirked, "No you wouldn't have. Tell me, why is this girl in chains?" he asked with a slight laugh in his voice.

"She has committed crimes against Asgard and is about to be brought before the queen for punishment." The man informed him.

"Ah, I see. And what, may I ask, were her crimes?" the young prince asked, still not breaking eye contact; Magenta's stubborn nature kept her eyes locked on the young princes'.

"She threatened the life of three royal guards and injured one." The guard said as he glared in her direction.

"They deserved it." Magenta murmured, only half to herself.

Loki laughed at her words, "I'm sure they did." He said with a smirk at the head guard's reaction. Before the man could say anything Fandral reappeared and informed them all that Frigga would see them now.

The guard proceeded into the room, holding Magenta's arm in death grip. The queen was seated at her desk as they approached. The guard bowed, pulling Magenta down with him. Though it irritated her greatly Magenta kept her mouth shut and her eyes on the ground.

"My queen we found this-" The guard started saying but the queen cut him off.

"Thank you for bringing her to me. I will hear her in private." She said dismissively, eyes never leaving Magenta. The black haired youth winced at the tone in the queen's voice. Frigga was mad…

Magenta waited until the door had clicked shut before she dared sneak a glance at the woman who had become like a second mother to her, the first being Kataya seeing as she had no memory of her birth mother. Frigga looked down at here with a disappointed look. "I swear I can explain!" she started, the queen held up a hand to silence her reasons.

"Stop, I want you to tell me one thing only. Why? Why did you injure that man? I know you. I know that you do not attack without just cause so why." She asked in a regal manor, no emotion crept into her voice.

"He was dishonouring the title of a royal guard with his behaviour towards a young maiden in the south court." Magenta replied.

"How so?"

"She was selling him some fruit but he refused to pay. He tried to use his position to get out of paying. When she grabbed his arm to stop him from walking away he raised his fist to strike her." the young girl explained.

"And let me guess, you intervened?" Frigga asked with a touch of pride in her voice, so subtle Magenta wasn't sure if it was truly there at all. She nodded with a look that said 'of course' on her face. Frigga sighed, "While I admire your courage and agree that the man was in the wrong I do not approve of your methods."

Magenta cocked her head to the side, "So where does this leave us? A night in the dungeon? Serving the community?"

Frigga thought for a moment, "Actually I have decided to send you to train with the Valkeries."

Magenta's jaw hit the floor, "What?! You…you can't! I'll be better I swear! Please…don't send me away! This is the closes thing to home I have…" she trailed off, all but begging. She dropped her gaze, refusing to allow the queen to see the tears that pricked her eyes.

Frigga stood and moved to stand in front of the young girl. Cupping the girls chin she raised her head gently so that she could look Magenta in the eye. "My darling girl, this is not a punishment. I do not want to send you away-"

"Then why are you?!" The girl exclaimed as the tears peaked out from her eyes. She sounded so confused and lost that for a moment Frigga doubted her decision.

"Because dear child, you are growing into a fine young lady but I know that a warrior's spirit burns within. As you know I have been looking into the history of your race and I know that by know you are probably beginning to develop your gifts. Sadly though I cannot help you. Sorcery and Blood Born Magic, like your own, are different. However with the Valkeries you will be trained to control them and you can become trained as a warrior." Frigga reasoned.

"But what if I fail? What if I can't do it? What if I get kicked out? Why can't I just stay here?" Magenta rambled. Frigga laughed, cutting her off. "What?" She demanded.

"Sweat heart you are going to be just fine. You know how I know? Because you have survived through so much already. I know you can do this. And I know that you're nervous, I am too after all who knows what kind of mischief you might get up to!" Frigga tapped Magenta's nose earning her a smile. "Now I can't promise you that you're not going to fail, after all everyone falls down now and then, but if you promise that you will try your best I can promise you that win or lose, pass or fail, maiden or warrior I will always support you and be here for you. Understand?"

Magenta wiped away her tears. Standing a little taller she took a deep breath. "I understand and I promise to do my best."

"Good girl. Now go and get packed." Frigga said, nudging her towards the door.

Magenta smiled and nodded before heading off.

Once the girl was out of sight Frigga smirked, "Loki you can come out now."

From behind a pillar a very guilty looking prince emerged. "I'm sorry mother, I didn't mean to intrude."

Frigga smiled and ruffled his raven hair. "It's alright dear."

Loki shifted his weight from foot to foot for a moment before asking, "Mother…who is she? Why do you care so much about her?"

Frigga looked thoughtful for a moment. "Her name is Magenta. When she was very young she came to Asgard. Her home and her family were destroyed." She said solemnly.

"Oh…" Loki said, not knowing what else to say.

"However she is a strong girl and has learnt to leave the past behind her. You know…" she started slyly with a small smile growing on her lips. "The two of you would get alone quite well."

"What makes you say that?" Loki asked confused on what his mother was basing her observation on.

"The two of you are both magnets for trouble." Frigga said, reaching out to tickle Loki's stomach. He playfully bated her hands away. "And I constantly have to bail you both out before your father finds out!"

Loki laughed and took a step towards the door.

"Hold it young man." Wincing Loki turned around. "I didn't call you here to ease drop. You're still in trouble for what you did to Sif!"

Loki's face fell. He had almost made it out. Almost.
