"My gift to you..." Regina paused for a moment holding Emma's hands in her own for the first time in front of anyone.
She wanted... No. Her whole soul was screaming at her to say it out loud but her stupid mind was telling her that she has not right over the woman whose bed she had shared for the last year or so. She had no fucking right to it. Right?
She looked at the green eyes staring back at her with so much sadness and astonishment.
"...is good memories..."
Emma arched eyebrows, not believing that she was hearing that along with the rest of Storybrooke. Regina was always telling her how much she wants to bring back everyone's happy ending here in this cursed town. But now... Doing it in front of everybody it felt like a confession.
Love confession.
"...good life..." Regina heart sunk in her heels. Life without me.
"...for you..." She turned back to Henry and welcomed him with a hand.
The boy walked over to his mothers, heart hammering against his chest. This was not fair. This was not how it was supposed to happen. The Savior should have given the Evil Queen her happy endings. Not the other way around.
When he finally reached them Regina took his hand in her right, the left never letting go of Emma's left. They felt the link between stronger than ever, running out of their hearts and through the physical link – their hands.
The smile that formed on Regina's face, a smile of promise, melted Emma's heart and at the same time shattered it. She knew Regina well enough to see her forced smiles.
"You would never have given him up."
Emma gasped, the tears falling freely on her sides.
"You have always been together." Regina's heart broke at giving her own memories to the one she loved. It didn't matter that it was for their best. What it matter was the memories of her and Henry being ripped out of her chest.
"You would do that?" Emma breathed out. Her heart stopped upon realizing how much Regina was giving to her.
"When I stop Pan's curse and you cross that town line you will have the life you have always wanted." Regina explained with firm but soft voice. It was too much for her. This moment of separation from Emma and Henry but she had to be strong for them. She was doing this for them.
"But it won't be real." Emma shook her head.
"Your past - won't," Regina confirmed but continued, "but your future will." She smiled at the end of the sentence. Her heart flittered with the possibility of the future. Who knows? Maybe she will get the chance to meet them again.
A moment of silence lingered between them as the two women stared right back at each other's eyes. That was the way they interacted and now they did it again. They conveyed all they could in those brief moments knowing it would be their last.
Regina inhaled as if that could make her ready to let Emma go. It didn't work but she urged them nevertheless. "Now go." Her eyes left Emma's briefly while her hand rested on Henry's shoulder.
"There isn't much time and the curse will be here any minute."
Henry launched his body on his mother's almost knocking her. He felt safe for the last time in her arms.
Regina and Emma looked each other again in the eyes.
