I had an accident when I was three.
I'll try not to ramble too much… This tale is probably going to be pretty short since Ludwig's reading over my shoulder right now and making sure that I don't go on a tangent. Which is utterly ridiculous I mean when do I ever go on tangents like never that's when I don't do that I just try to make conversation I mean sure it can get a little lengthy but I'm a people person and I like to talk I don't see what's wrong with that and plus my story is way shorter than the rest of my siblings because it was just a really quick event so I don't see why I have to be penalized and have someone look over my shoulder like I'm a four-year-old and not to mention that I– OW!
…
…sorry Ludwig…
Anyway, I should probably start, shouldn't I? Well let's see now… where to start... might as well begin at the beginning, right? Makes sense to me!
So the day started off normal enough. King Dad and Queen Mom were taking us to the amusement park.
Oh man I love amusement parks! They're the best things ever! I loved the roller coasters and Roy and I got to go on the really big one with King Dad because the others were too scared and we almost barfed but it was super awesome and totally worth it and I'm getting off topic again aren't I sorry about that!
Continuing on… we went to the amusement park, and we had lots and lots of fun! But unfortunately we had to come home early because Lemmy and Larry got sick and that freaky Shy Clown scared most of us except Ludwig and Roy of course because they're really brave… I still get nightmares about that creepy thing! Ugh…
So we get home and we're running around all over the place. It was crazy and awesome! I remember that King Dad and Queen Mom had left Ludwig, Roy, and I outside to play because it wasn't that late, and they had taken my other siblings inside, since they didn't want to stay out since they were tired. I don't know why. I was full of energy! Life! Happiness! Playfulness! It was great!
The three of us started wandering around and looking for something to do. There weren't any minions around for us to mess with, so we weren't sure what game we should play. I usually did whatever Roy wanted, since he was the older and bigger one. As he was thinking of an idea, Ludwig decided to go and look for… what was it? Special rocks? No I'm not saying geology samples. That's stupid.
After Ludwig walks off to look for some… special rocks (still not saying geology samples, LUDWIG), Roy got a big idea. He smirked down at me and told me that we should have a wrestling match. I thought it was a brilliant idea! Then again, I thought most of his ideas were great back then… like the time when he told me to shake a bottle of soda and put it under King Dad's pillow… or the time when he told me to leave rotten eggs under the toilet seat… or the time when he had convinced me that Yoshi droppings were good for my skin… Now he just beats me up. I honestly think I prefer that more.
Anyway, I was really excited to show Roy just how strong I'd gotten lately! I really looked up to him back then, since he was super strong and brave, and he still is, too!
…Actually, to be brutally honest, I still kinda look up to him, despite how much of a jerk he can be. He can still beat me in any physical match… but I totally own him at words per minute!
So the two of us start our wrestling match. Even though we were just little kids, it was still pretty intense. For, you know, a six-year-old and a three-year-old…
Ludwig was completely ignoring our shouts by this time, and wasn't really paying any attention to Roy and I as we tussled on the ground, beating each other up. Despite the fact that he was older and stronger, I'd grown a lot since my hatching, faster than usual, so we were fairly equal when it came to size and muscle mass. He did still have a good advantage over me, though: he'd trained with King Dad for three full years already. I'd only just started. So it wasn't too long until he had me pinned to the ground on my stomach, my face in the dirt, and my right arm behind my back. I squirmed but couldn't get up. He was too heavy for me.
"Looks like I win, Tubs," he had said.
Now there aren't many things that make me mad. Sure I get grumpy from time to time, but I'm usually a pretty happy, peppy, cheerful guy! The only thing that set me off was that dumb nickname he'd come up with when I put on a lot of weight from my eating habits. But I couldn't help it! Food just tastes so good! And when someone leaves out a buffet of desserts unattended, the last thing you're gonna do is just walk away empty handed!
When Roy called me that I could feel myself getting angrier by the second. But no matter how hard I struggled I couldn't get up. So I had to try a… cheap trick in wrestling to get him off me.
I started to cry. And when I cried, I was LOUD.
Sure enough, Roy backed off right away and started looking around in case someone heard me. "H-hey! Knock it off, before I get in trouble!"
I cried and cried and pointed behind him. When Roy turned around, sure that King Dad was steaming mad, I got to my feet and tackled him to the ground, holding him down and using my weight to keep him on the ground. I still remember the huge grin on my face when I realized I had won! It was the best feeling ever!
"Get offa me!" Roy had snarled, "That's cheatin'! Not fair at all!"
"Sowwy, Woy! Wooks wike I win!" I had replied, smiling happily.
"Not yet!"
He wasn't going to take that lying down, though, literally or figuratively. So he started thrashing all over the place like a chained Chomp. I really wanted to win this one, but I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to keep him down. I was also scared that he would beat me up if I let him go.
"I won!" I'd wailed.
"No you didn't!" Roy'd spat.
He was really steaming mad, and I did the only thing I could think of at that point...
I bit him in the arm.
I only did it because I was panicking - I didn't mean to hurt him - but he started yelling really loudly and we were flailing and I remember my hand hitting something plastic when I went flying off.
"MY SHADES!"
I snatched them before he could say anything, and when I looked up, I finally saw his eyes.
But I'm not allowed to tell you about them, or else I'm in huge trouble.
He smacked one hand over his eyes and held out the other one. "Give. Them. BACK."
Instead of listening, I raced towards the castle, held his sunglasses over the moat, and glared at him.
"Say I win!"
He was really steaming mad. "Never!"
"Say it! Say it say it say it!"
He stood there, not giving in. "NO."
"Say it or they go swim!"
That's when he finally lost it. "FINE! YOU WIN! JUST GIVE THEM BACK!"
I was really pleased with myself and handed him his glasses, smiling widely, and he sat down to look at them and put them back on.
"Tank woo big bradda!" I bent down and quickly hugged his head, feeling proud of myself.
He had stayed on the ground for a few seconds, before he slowly got up and snarled back at me. But by this time I had started to run back to the castle, because Old Man Kamek had called for us to come in. Ludwig was already heading inside, holding a rock in each hand and examining them. Kamek was distracted a moment later, and left the door open for us to enter at our leisure.
I was out of breath when I reached the bridge, so I stopped and reveled in my amazing victory! Sure, I'd kind of cheated, but that's what King Dad had taught us! Win no matter what, right? And be proud of it!
I started imagining myself as an awesome wrestling champion! Could you imagine just how great that would be? Everyone would be cheering my name and I'd have a huge golden belt and enough coins to eat whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted too!
But I was so caught up in my daydream that I never even noticed Roy storming up behind me. In one swift move, he had pushed me hard towards the edge of the bridge. I was so startled I'd let out a huge scream as I wheeled backwards, over the bridge, and tumbled into the moat below.
Now, back then the moat wasn't filled with lava, thankfully. It was filled with water, and also various types of fish, like Cheep Cheeps, spiny and regular, Nibbles, and Bloopers. It was a good thing that the Nibbles don't snack on Koopas!
I hit the water face first, which really really hurt, and I was forced to hold my breath. I couldn't see anything, and unfortunately for me I didn't know that Nibbles or the other fish wouldn't hurt me, so when I felt something slimy touching me I had panicked and started thrashing all over the place. I wanted to cry but I don't know if I did. I just knew that I needed air, but I didn't know which way was up. And the worst part was I didn't know how to swim yet either.
So all I could do was float in the water and look around. I felt my chest closing in and I needed to breathe, but I had to keep holding my breath, otherwise I would drown and then Larry would get my dessert that night! I think I tried to breathe, because I heard that some water was special and let you breathe in it, but I started choking and coughing and I couldn't stop.
Just when I thought my lungs were going to pop and my face was going to burst, and just when I started feeling really sleepy, I felt something tug at my hand and pull me… up? I still don't know which way I was going. But I needed air really badly, so I didn't care too much at that point, as terrified as I was.
I finally broke the surface and took in a deep breath. Then I started coughing and spitting up water. It had been so scary, so I clung to whomever or whatever had saved me and started bawling and sobbing and blubbering all over the place.
"Shhh…" I'd felt a comforting pat on my back, and when I looked up, it was none other than Ludwig. Apparently he'd heard the splash after Roy had pushed me into the moat and had come to investigate, along with Kamek, whom he had called after he saw me hit the water.
Ludwig dragged me out of the moat, and Kamek came to make sure that we were okay. I was shaken up, but unharmed.
Water scared me for a long time after that… but what frightened me the most wasn't the water itself. It was the fear of drowning because I couldn't hold my breath for very long. So I decided to spend my time talking even more than I already did and see how long I could go for. I had talked a lot before, but they were very short sentences, with lots of room for breathing. Now I can hold my breath for over seven minutes! But that's probably because I can't go that long without feeling the need to talk about awesome stuff!
Now I WOULD end it here… but there's something important that happened that night.
I was getting ready for bed, and was all set to sleep after that crazy day.
Then my door flies open, and in comes none other than Roy, who quickly slams the door shut after making sure no one was around. I had let out a squeak of terror on seeing him enter my room. He pointed a threatening finger at me and had growled as he made his way over to my bed. I covered my snout with my sheets, terrified.
"You say anytin' 'bout my eyes, I make sure you go swimmin' and don't come back this time!" he had whispered harshly.
I nodded, scared out of my mind. I wasn't planning to mention either of the things I had in mind. I knew the consequences all too well.
He folded his arms and let out a huff. "Good."
Seeing as Ludwig hadn't actually seen Roy push me in the water, I doubted he could get in trouble from that front. So that left only me to silence.
"And if you go blabbin' what happened today, ya little cheater, you'll be sorry."
I had nodded and hid under the sheets in terror.
"But… still glad yer okay, Tubs." With that, he left.
Alright, I'd give him that one. He deserved it.
I had an accident when I was three.
Because of it, I don't stop talking, and my lung capacity is incredible.
But I'm not scared of water anymore!
…Though I do still stick to the desert and mountain worlds…
Don't judge me. I just happen to like those worlds, that's all.
So it's a happy ending after all!
…hopefully Roy doesn't blame me for what Wendy did and think I said something, though…
