Well this took forever XP
Only one left after this!
I had an accident when I was five.
There's not much to tell, honestly, and I doubt mine comes even close to my siblings when it comes to tragedy, but trust me, this wasn't pleasant.
Being the youngest of seven siblings at the time wasn't the easiest thing in the world; it still isn't, when Junior's not around. Back then I was the victim for all sorts of dares from my older brothers and sister, and because I didn't know any better, I went along with it, thinking it would make me cool and earn their respect.
Now it was around this time that King Dad had been successful in his fight against that mechanical jerk, Smithy, and so our parents had decided to go buy some treats for us from the store.
Keep in mind that when I say 'some', I really refer to half an airship full. Sure, it was for the minions too, but we never really thought about them that much back then. We still kinda don't, but I digress.
Another thing I should mention is the fact that they'd recently released this new candy product: Sugar X Xtreme. And King Dad thought it would be a great idea to buy about twenty large cases of the stuff. It was a powdery, extremely sugary snack, and could rot your skull right out of your head if you let it. Considering that it was still fresh on the market, no one realized just how potent this stuff could be.
I remember quite well what happened; Roy, Morton, Wendy, and I were hiding away in one of the storage rooms that King Dad had used to store the Sugar X Xtreme. This was back when she'd still hang out with us. It was apparently the final part of my 'initiation' into Roy's approval.
…If I had known that it wouldn't have mattered and I still would've been treated the same no matter what, I never would have agreed to it…
"K, Larry, so ya want to hang out with us?" Roy had smirked, folding his arms as Wendy and Morton had stood behind him, the former looking smug and the latter a bit nervous.
"Yeah!" I had been so eager. Back then, my older siblings were my heroes. In a way, they still are, somewhat, but at least now I know better than to accept a dare from them…
"Right, so what you gotta do…" Wendy had gestured behind me. "is eat that whole crate of Sugar X Xtreme."
I can still recall how widely I had grinned, and their smugness at my naïveté. "Awesome! That stuff's really yummy!"
"But you gotta do it before we get back!" Roy added, jabbing a finger in my face. "If we see one little powdery crumb, then you're gonna start all over! Got it!"
"Yes, big bro! I'll do my best!"
Morton had whispered something to them as they walked away, which I later discovered was him voicing his concerns. "But what if someone finds him when we come back? We'll be in really big trouble!"
"Relax," Roy had dismissed his fears with a wave of his hands. "We're locking the door behind us. Plus who says we're coming back?"
Wendy had given me an arrogant grin. "Better hurry up now! You never know when we could show up! It might even be in five minutes!"
Eyes widening at her words, I quickly got to work devouring the packets of Sugar X Xtreme the second the door had clicked shut. I hung over the edge of the crate, my weight eventually tipping it over and causing packets to spill onto the floor. Undeterred, I continued to eat my way through, ripping up packages and stuffing the treat into my mouth as quickly as I could.
Yeah, this doesn't really sound a lot like an accident, does it?
Well hold on. I'm getting to that part.
See, what we didn't know at the time, being little kids and all, was that eating too much sugar could make you sluggish and sleepy. So when I was about a quarter of the way through the box I felt myself beginning to drift off, my consumption slowing to a crawl and my body powering down.
I ended up accidentally tumbling face first into a large pile of sugar created from my sloppy eating, and fell asleep.
Now, remember how I said that Sugar X Xtreme can rot your skull right out of your head?
Yeah. That's kind of what happened. Not to that extent, of course, but my point still stands. When I was found later that night by a Koopatrol guard, my two inner fangs were littered with black cavities, my gums were throbbing, and my mouth hurt like you wouldn't believe. Somehow, my outer fangs had managed to avoid being affected by the sugary substance. My parents were furious, and when I tried to argue that I had to do it in order to be accepted, the three darers denied having anything to do with my situation and claimed that I had gone delusional from eating too much sugar when I accidently locked myself in the storage room, apparently.
Needless to say, I had to get them pulled out, and since my mouth was so infected, my adult ones wouldn't be able to grow in. It was one of the most painful things I ever had to endure, since Koopa fangs aren't exactly like regular teeth, being attached more directly to the skull. Since then I've made sure that I had the cleanest mouth of any of my family.
I had an accident when I was five.
Because of it, I lost two of my fangs, and they will never grow back.
Sure, it may not have been the most tragic, but it was certainly painful, and I came to learn that I can't let myself be fooled by obvious lies and tricks, so I became the sneakiest Koopa in the castle to avoid anything like that from happening to me ever again.
Chew on that and try not to nap.
