A/N: Hey guys! So this is the 30 day OTP challenge!
Pairing: Maria/Steve
Day: 1
Prompt: Cuddling.
Steve sat at the kitchen table while he waited for everyone to wake up. It would be a little while seeing as it was a little after 4:00 AM. It was unusually cold for September and he would usually be on a run, but instead he was going over old News Paper clippings that he found in Maria's scrap book.
'Missing body of Salt Lake City teen found' was in big bold letters, in fact, most of them were articles about kidnapping, but he knew Maria had a good reason for having so many of those. He honestly could not believe how sick people could be to even think about taking someone from their own family.
"Steve?" A voice asked from the kitchen doorway.
Steve looked up to find Maria's younger sister standing there, her fleece blanket wrapped around her head and shoulders. She had slept over after a particularly bad fight with her father, and looked like a scared bunny rabbit.
"What's wrong, Emily?" He asked, concerned at how anxious the teen was.
"It's Maria. I think she's having a nightmare." She said, her green eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Steve got up and walked passed her, ordering the sixteen-year-old to stay put as he entered the elevator.
He got to his and Maria's floor and made his way to his and Maria's bedroom to see the woman tossing and turning.
"No. Don't touch me." She grumbled as she continued to toss and turn. Maria's nightmares had gotten a bit worse since D.C.
"Hey, Maria." Steve whispered, gently shaking her shoulder. Maria flinched at the touch and moved away but her eyes remained tightly shut.
"Leave him alone." She said, beginning to shake uncontrollably as a tear slipped out of the corner of her eye.
Steve shook her once more, this time a little harder, but still careful not to frighten her anymore than she already was.
The agents eyes finally snapped open, fully alert and ready to assess the potential threat. Her grey eyes met Steve's bright blue ones as he sat down on the edge of the bed.
"Nightmare?" He asked, rubbing her back soothingly as she looked at the clock on her nightstand and nodded.
"Yes." She choked, beginning to shake once more.
"Hey, you're alright. It's just a nightmare. I'm here, we're both fine. Nightmares aren't real. Want to talk about it?" He asked, continuing to rub his fiancée's back until she stopped shaking.
Maria shook her head, "No. Can you stay with me for a bit?" She asked, letting out a shaky breath.
The super soldier nodded and climbed into bed next to her, gently taking her and wrapping his strong arms around her. She lay her head on his chest and allowed him to smooth back her dark brown hair as her breathing calmed and her eyes started to droop once more.
"I love you, Maria." He said, kissing the top of her head as she instinctively wrapped her arms around his torso.
"I love you too." She mumbled as she drifted off to sleep once more.
They lay like that for awhile before Natasha and Clint found them and told them that they had to go to work.
A/N: Let me know what y'all think! Please review :)
