This is my speculation on what happened in the parallel dimension. Because Caskett still needs to happen no matter what universe you're in.

Disclaimer: No, I don't own anything.

It seemed like everything went by in a blur. The ambulances arriving, Castle being taken to the hospital, the words that he told her...

Kate Beckett always prided herself for being grounded in reality. But maybe...just maybe there was a truth to what Castle said. Her world's version of Richard Castle wouldn't be the same...but if she still made a connection with the other Castle, there was a very slim chance that the connection could be reestablished for this one. She waited with Alexis and Martha in Richard's hospital room.

Richard Castle woke up in the hospital and found Kate Beckett smiling down at him.

"I'm sorry…who are you?" he asked.

"I'm Captain Kate Beckett," she said. "You got shot while helping me out on a case."

"I got called to consult again? Must've been a heck of a case for you to get involved."

She nodded. "You…kind of weren't yourself. The culprit was after an artifact said to transport people to alternate realities."

The wheels in Richard's head started turning. "Tell me more."

Captain Beckett told the story of what happened during the past 48 hours. As she told the story, Richard asked Alexis to get a notebook. The wheels in Richard's head began to turn.

"Wha-What are you doing?" Captain Beckett asked.

"Getting everything down. You just gave me the perfect idea for a science fiction mystery novel."

"Really?"

"Yeah. A man lost in time meets a homicide detective hardened by life and the two of them become the new Scully and Mulder."

"It sounds like something I'd like to read."

"Of course, I should probably continue consulting," Richard said with a mischievous smile. "You know, for research."

Captain Beckett nodded in agreement. "You know, you never did tell me why you killed off Derrek Storm. Do you think this time, maybe you can tell me over dinner? When yo get out of the hospital."

Richard nodded as he closed his Moleskine notebook.

Alexis, who stood there watching her father's eyes light up with inspiration, couldn't help but think of a certain Taylor Swift song. She put on her headphones, played the song she had in mind, and let her imagination run wild as she watched the new chapter of her father's life begin.
