Déjà Vu

XXXI. Week 1

The first time they hung out Kuwabara tagged along. It wasn't surprising given that Yuusuke picked Kagome up after their lab. They compared horror stories of teachers all the way to WacDonald's.

When Kagome brought their orders to their table, Yuusuke slapped her ass. "Good work!" He said, grinning from ear-to-ear.

So Kagome did what she did best: turn around and dump her milkshake over his head. And ducked when he threw fries at her, unfortunately Kuwabara was sitting behind her. All three laughed as they were kicked out of it. Along with the following five times from other chains.

XXXII. Week 2

Kagome had the oddest sense of déjà vu. She really shouldn't be surprised at this point, as things involving Yuusuke almost always repeated themselves in strange and (she would never admit it) hilarious ways.

But still… She glanced up from her textbook to see him leaning back reading a magazine with his feet propped on the edge of the desk. She looked back down with a devious smile. It would be so easy right now to get revenge for the other day when he tripped her on the shrine steps.

"I can't believe we got banned from another library."

XXXIII. Week 2 1/2

"Hey, Kagome-chan! You run too fast!" Said girl stopped in the middle of her anxiety-relieving jog to class.

Kagome couldn't help smiling at the familiar voice. "I'm sure that's not true, Kuwabara-kun. But, did you need something?"

He stopped in front of her and pulled off a girly bag from his shoulder. Something seemed familiar… "Urameshi said you forgot this the other day. And were too, ah, upset, for him to give it back."

"Oh!" It was the whole reason she was dreading going to class. "My project…" It had been left behind when they got banned from the library.

XXXIV. Week 3

"You didn't have to do that the other day, you know," was the first thing Kagome said when she saw Yuusuke again.

"Huh? Do what?" he asked, still looking at a magazine that seemed awfully familiar.

She narrowed her eyes. "Bring me my project... How did you get it from the library anyway?"

Perhaps sensing the suspicion in her voice, he sat up and hide the magazine. "I'm just a humble ramen maker, I don't know what you mean."

"Uh-huh... I got my eye on you."

In response, he fluttered his eyes at her. "I knew you'd break down eventually."

XXXV. Ready?

Five years ago, they met. Both had hearts full of secrets and past loves. Both could not deny their attraction and based a relationship on silly crushes, omitted pasts, and frivolous banter. It was no surprised that even their friendship failed in the face of adversity. Perhaps some would even say that it was because they were too young and too foolish.

But this time, they had an actual friendship. She knew his friends, they all hung out together. And they both knew about the other without actually knowing about them. Somehow, that was enough for them to be content.
