Previously in HTTYD: The Terrible Duo
"What are we going to do? You're dad's gonna be a mountain in our path."
"Don't worry. Like I said, I'll figure something out."
I nodded. Hiccup can figure it out. I know he can. I have fate in him
Dragon Arena, Marcus's POV
"Hiccup! Hiccup! Hiccup! Hiccup!"
The entire place was crowded with Vikings shouting Hiccup's name over and over... And for a second, I thought I had gone deaf at the shear intensity of their shouts. I groaned and covered my ears to prevent myself from actually going deaf.
"Well, I could finally show my face in public again!" Stoick's voice boomed, followed by a laughter. What do you mean by that?! You've done it ever since I could remember!
"If somebody told me that in a few short weeks, Hiccup would go from, well, being hiccup to placing first in dragon training, I would've tied him to a mast and shipped him off for fear he'd gone mad!" Stoick continued. It was followed by cheers and a few laughs...
I growled in anger(but not enough for anyone to hear) and mentally cursed them. I would've tied them to a mast and shipped them off!
"But! Here we are. And no one is more surprised... Or more proud than I am." Stoick continued.
'The guy can actually feel pride for his son? Who are you and what have you done with Stoick?' I thought sarcastically.
"Today, My boy becomes A Viking! Today, he becomes one of us!" Stoick finished. The crowd burst into cheers.
'No thanks. If he does, I'll lose a friend.' I thought jokingly before coming down to meet Hiccup. Once I arrived, Hiccup was so deep in thought, he didn't notice me. I cleared my throat and got his attention.
"Oh... Hey, Marcus." Hiccup said. Suddenly, I felt someone behind me.
"Be careful with that dragon." Astrid(Who apparently had the same Idea I had) said.
"It's not the dragon that I'm worried about." Hiccup replied, looking at his father by the stands.
I shook my head and sighed. "You can do this, Hiccup. Although I am not a hundred percent sure this will work..." Hiccup gave me an "I'm not amused look". "... I'm with you all the way.". Hiccup smiled and told me he has a plan... And that plan probably has a 60-40 chance of backfiring... I'm not helping am I?
Hiccup looked at me and Astrid before saying, "If anything... goes wrong, Just make sure they don't find Toothless, Bolt and Swift."
"We will. Just promise us it won't go wrong." Me and Astrid spoke simultaneously. We then both stared at each other before I looked away and said, "Or I'll have Toothless lick you again."
Hiccup laughed and put on his helmet. But then he turned around and asked, "Wait, you're serious?"
I nodded before Gobber appeared and said, "It's time Hiccup. Knock 'em dead."
And then, Hiccup entered the arena. And I think my good eye twitched a bit. Hiccup went for the armory and picked a shield and a dagger.
"I would've gone for the hammer." I heard Stoick say to Gobber. I gritted my teeth. When you're the one who's fighting, You can pick the damn hammer, Stoick.
"I'm ready." Hiccup said.
Then... The gates opened. And the Nightmare burst free.
The dragon roared viciously as it climbed the cage like a lizard. It then noticed Hiccup and glared at him. I gulped. 'Oh gods please let this plan work.' I thought Grimly as the dragon approached Hiccup slowly.
I watch Hiccup drop his shield and dagger and whisper soft words towards the dragon. It has to work...
"It's okay..." Hiccup muttered before looking up at his father. "I'm not one of them." He said as he threw his helmet to the ground. The nightmare looked at him, eyes filled with curiosity and confusion.
"Stop the fight." Stoick ordered.
"No! I need you all to see this. They're not who we think they are. We don't have to kill them." Hiccup said as the dragon started become calm and relaxed. It was going to work... Until...
"I said stop the fight!" Stoick yelled before slamming his hammer to one the metal rails of the arena.
BANG! Oh... Crap.
The nightmare's eyes widened and it's pupils shrank to slits before trying to bite Hiccup's hand off. Hiccup yelped and tried to escape the angry dragon.
My eye widened and I saw Astrid grab a nearby axe and forced the opening open. I followed Astrid and made a run for the small armoury. I managed to grab a Sword as soon as Astrid threw a hammer at the dragon's direction. It hit it's target and the dragon glared at us.
I growled at it and charged with a battle cry. Let's just hope a miracle happens...
Back at the cove, Swift's POV
I was sleeping peacefully until I heard Toothless shout in alarm. "Hiccup! He's in danger!"
My eyes widened. So did Bolt's. If Hiccup's in trouble, Then Marcus is not far behind. Toothless ran towards the wall in attempt to climb it. Bolt flared his wings. "I'll meet you there!" He said before taking off. I would follow him, but I need to see if Toothless can get out of here.
Toothless looked at me. "Go! I'll meet you there when I can! Just please make sure Hiccup's okay!" He said. I nodded before running out of the cove.
Hiccup... Marcus... Please still be alive.
Dragon arena, Marcus's POV
*WHACK!* "Oof!"
I groaned as I rubbed my head in pain. The nightmare had just used It's tail to slam me into a wall. I growled at the dragon and got up. But suddenly fell down when the pain in my left eye forced me. My left hand touched the wound...
And when I retracted it, I saw blood... The wound! It reopened! I had thought it had healed, yet It seemed it didn't.
Damn it! At this rate, I'll pass out from blood loss! I can't let that happen! I got up, ignoring the pain, and charged at the dragon, that has hiccup cornered. I got between the dragon and Hiccup then waved my sword in front of it's face.
"Back off! You're not hurting my friend!" I shouted at the dragon. The dragon seemed to growl irritably before using it's claws to swipe at me and Hiccup. I used my sword to block it, but the pain in my eye spiked and forced me to cry out in pain. The sword was then swiped away from my hand.
The nightmare forced me and Hiccup to the ground and pinned us with it's claws. Oh great... Guess this is the end...
"Hey, Hiccup. Before we die, I'd like to tell you that you were the best friend I ever had(Besides Swift) and... THIS IS ALL YOUR DAD'S FAULT!" I yelled at his face. Hiccup gulped nervously and faced the dragon, who seemed slightly amused. But was hidden by it's vicious snarling.
Just then, We heard a loud roar and shriek. Me and Hiccup quickly recognized it as Bolt and Toothless. An explosion covered the entire arena with smoke and the claws that had us pinned quickly lifted. I looked at Hiccup in disbelief.
Once the smoke lifted, We saw Toothless and Bolt roaring at the Nightmare. A growl from beside me told me that Swift was there. I smiled as Swift's sail-like fin brush against my side. "D-don't worry, Swift. I'm..." I grunted and got up. "... Fine." I finished as I face the three snarling dragons. Toothless was placed defensively in front of Hiccup and Bolt was near me as well. The nightmare roared before scurrying off. Finally... As soon as the dragon was gone, We rushed to our dragons.
"Alright, Toothless. Go. Get out of here."
"Bolt, Swift. Get out of here. Quickly."
The Vikings started pouring in the arena and charged at us(Specifically, at our dragons) with weapons at hand. I then saw Stoick charging in with a hammer at hand. My eye widened when I saw Toothless's eyes narrow at Stoick. I turned to look at Bolt and Swift, who were busy fending off any Vikings that came near them.
"Bolt! Swift! You need to leave! NOW!" I commanded. Bolt and Swift looked at me with worry before Swift quickly bolted away from the arena. I grinned. Sure, Swift wouldn't leave me in danger, but even he knows when to pick to fight or flight(Metaphorically because he doesn't have wings). But then stopped my grin when I saw Bolt still here, shaking off any Viking that gets close.
"Toothless, Stop!" Hiccup's voice rang through my ear. I turned to see Toothless pin down Stoick and prepared to fire. No... The guy's sometimes a jerk but that doesn't mean he gets to die. This has to stop.
"NOOOO!" I and Hiccup screamed.
Toothless stopped and looked at us, confused, before he was hit in the head and was forced down. A roar from behind captured my attention and I saw Bolt being captured as well. No...
"No don't hurt him! Just please don't hurt him...!" Hiccup tried to run towards Toothless's side but me and Astrid held him back. Hiccup struggled against us even when he knew how out of control the situation is. I, for one, wanted to stop them... But even I know that we can't do anything.
"Put them with the others." Stoick commanded, voice filled with venom as his eyes narrowed at us.
More specifically, at Hiccup...
At the Great hall, With Hiccup
The walk towards the hall was painful. Stoick forcefully dragged Hiccup, ignoring his cries of protest and pleas. One, who is not hooligan Viking(Or not a Viking at all), would feel pity for the young teen. Yet all Hiccup received were glares and murmurs. All pointing to one word...
Traitor.
Stoick shoved Hiccup inside the hall. "I should've known. I should've seen the sights." He muttered.
"Dad?"
"We had a deal!"
"I know we did. But that was before... It's all so messed up." Hiccup stammered.
"So everything in the ring... A trick? A lie?" Stoick said, looking away at his son.
"I screwed up. I should have just told you before now. I just... Take this out on me, be mad at me but please! Just don't hurt Toothless and blame Marcus!" Hiccup pleaded. He knew(Or at least, that's what he thinks) that it was his fault. He shouldn't drag any of his dragon and human friends into his mess...
"The dragon? That's what you're worried about?! Not the people you almost killed?!" Stoick asked angrily.
"He was just protecting me! He's not dangerous!" Hiccup argued. Though he knew this will be one sided... And it won't end on his side...
"They've killed hundreds of us!" Stoick argued.
"And We've killed thousands of them! They defend themselves, that's all! They raid us because they have to! If they don't bring enough food back, they'll be eaten themselves! There's... something else on their islands, dad... It's a dragon that-!" Hiccup was cut off when Stoick turned to him.
"They're island?! So you've been to the nest?" Stoick said.
"D-did I say nest?" Hiccup gulped. 'Oh great... Not only did I get Toothless captured, I probably sent all of berk to their doom.'
"How did you find it?!" Stoick demanded.
"I-I didn't! Toothless and Bolt did! Only... A dragon can find the Island...!" Hiccup covered his mouth and felt the need to slap himself... How could he let such an information slip?! Now they're all dead!
Suddenly, Stoick's eyes took an a different expression. One that filled Hiccup with dread... Oh no...
"No, no, no. No, dad. Please! You don't know what you're up against! It's like nothing you've ever seen!" Hiccup reasoned. But his pleas fell on deaf ears as Stoick shoved him out of the way.
"Dad, please. I promise you, you can't win this one!" Nothing...
"Ugh... No, dad... No! FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE, WILL YOU PLEASE JUST LISTEN TO ME?!" Hiccup tried stopping him but he was then pushed away and fell to the ground. Stoick looked at him...
"You've thrown your lot in with them. You're not a Viking..." Hiccup was then scared... What does he mean?
"You're not my son..."
And just like that, Hiccup's whole life shattered like fragile glass... Memories of his childhood flashed before him... And all them were shattered with one echo... "You're not my son..."
"Ready the ships!" Stoick shouted, slamming the door.
Tears strained Hiccup's face. He couldn't take it anymore... Years of torment and agony surfaced. 'Why? Do the gods really hate me this much? Do they hate me so much that the only family I had left disowned me?! I... I have no one...'
Unknown to them, A certain white haired teen with a scarred left eye heard everything. He ran away, unable to grip the words that came out of Stoick's mouth... He was angry... No, worse than angry.
He was freezing furious!
Marcus's POV
I made my way to the plaza, where I knew Stoick will be headed to gather them all. I couldn't believe it... Stoick disowned Hiccup... His very flesh and blood... And he threw him away like trash... I'll make him pay... He'll pay dearly!
All of them were talking about one person. Hiccup. All of them was about: "Hiccup's a traitor.", "What a disgrace.", "He should be exiled.". And others... It made me even more angry... 'How could they?! How could all of those Fu-?!'
My thoughts were interrupted when I saw Stoick walking across the place. I growled and made my way towards him. I stopped in front of him, blocking his way... None never really stands up to the chief...
'But that doesn't mean he can get away with unforgivable acts!' The frost bite side of my head boomed.
"Out of my way, Marcus. I have a nest to destroy." Stoick said.
"You're not going anywhere, Stoick! How could you?! Disowning your own son?! I have a very long limit, but this is where I draw a line!" I shouted. All of the people who were present gasped.
"... Hiccup is not my son... And once I get back, I'll be thinking of a proper punishment for you, Makker." Stoick said. For a moment, I stood there...
Before pulling Stoick's hand, with strength that I didn't even knew I had, and punched him in the face, knocking off his helmet and staggering him a bit. All of them gasped in shock as they saw me do such a "treasonous" act... But in my perspective, This was payback.
"Dragon's shit! And I don't give a crap about any fucking punishment you can come up! Exile me, Execute me and other shit! Just get this through your thick skull, you fucking stubborn Half troll, You may be a great warrior and a chief, but you sure as Hel the worse and disgraceful father that I've ever fucking seen!" I yelled. I've always wanted to get that sentence out of my chest.
All of those who are present gasped(yet again) at my outburst. Stoick just stared at me, eyes widened in disbelief. I glared at him.
"For a guy who thinks dragons are monsters, You're worse than what you think they are. And, really, a dragon has shown Hiccup more kindness than all of berk combined." I said and sprinted past him, heading to the hall.
At the hall
After Arriving, I shouted Hiccup's name until I found him lying on the floor, tears streaming down his face. My heart sank as I get closer to him... How could he do this?
"Hiccup..." I whispered as I nudged him on the shoulder.
Hiccup looked at me, eyes clouded by loneliness. I tried holding my own tears back, seeing as I needed to be strong... On one hand, I feel sad for Hiccup... But on the other... Well let's just say... STOICK WILL BE BOWING DOWN AT MY FEET, BEGGING FOR MERCY!
"He... He disowned me... He told me that... I wasn't his son..." Hiccup stuttered. I pulled on his hand and helped him up. After that, I gave him a comforting(you know, the one that says "Don't be sad anymore") hug, while whispering soft words to him.
"I'm so sorry for this Hiccup... I should've done something..." I said to him.
Hiccup pulled away and shook his head. "No... It's my fault... I'm the one that got you in this mess..." He replied.
"No, Hiccup. Stop saying it's your fault, because it's not... I'm your friend, Hiccup. And I'd be damned if I let you shoulder all the burden." I said. 'Of course Hiccup will think that...'
Hiccup sniffed and wiped the remaining tears from his eyes. "You're right... Besides, We have other problems to deal with."
I raised my eyebrow in confusion. Hiccup noticed this and said, "I may have let the information about only dragons can find the nest slip my mouth and may have sent all of berk to it's doom."
If logic could easily be defied, My jaw would've hit the floor. Oh great... And knowing Stoick, He'll sail there and bravely(More like, Stupidly, Unknowingly and crazily) charge head first... then die a horrible death.
"Okay... Got a plan?" I asked.
Hiccup shook his head. "I'm still recovering from betrayal, sadness and depression. What do you think?" He asked sarcastically.
I snorted and playfully smacked him on the head. "Good to have you back, Hiccup."
"Wait... One's coming to me... Follow me at the highest point overlooking the docks." He replied as he ran out of the hall. I grinned and followed him.
Oh hiccup, you smart boy.
A/n: Finally! Finished this chapter! Sorry It took me so long, you know what kept me. Anyway, This chapter(you already know why) shows how much Marcus would go far for his friend. After all, what's the use of a rather violent alter ego if you're not gonna use it? If, by any chance, you found something... wrong, please point it out for me. Oh and the swearing was pretty much intentional. This is rated T after all. Oh and to clear a few things... Marcus is not Mildew's son! I'd rather die than make an OC that is mildew's son! Anyway, I would like to, yet again, thank the readers, followers and reviewers for the feedback! And, as always, Stay tuned for the Next chapter of: HTTYD: The Terrible Duo!
