"No..."

"HICCUP!"

Then... Everything turned black as the scream of Toothless and Bolt echoed in my ears...

Marcus's POV, ?

So... This is what it feels like to be dead?

If it is, Then I couldn't help but feel a tad bit disappointed.

There was nothing other than total blackness. The only thing I can see was myself. Perhaps this is what other people(who seemed to have developed some sort of weird and sometimes mildly disturbing godly beliefs) call... What was it? Pigatory? I don't know.

Hmmm... Nope. Doesn't fit the description.

Am I not dead? No... I probably died when I...

No! Hiccup! I... I have to see if he is okay! I can't die yet...!

"Are... sure... only..."

What?

"... Way... Ber."

Whose... Voices are those?

"...Right... On... It..."

What is...?!

SHINK

Graaaaa! What in the name of all thing that is holy?!

Pain exploded where my left eye was. I had thought when you're dead you don't feel pain... Perhaps I am... Graaa!

It was so unbearable I had to let out a scream of agony

"AHHHHH! MAKE IT STOP!"

I writhed and squirmed in agony as It felt as if a blade was struck in my left eye. All the while hearing voices around me...

"Hold... own!"

"For... Really... Strong!"

I couldn't take it anymore... I then felt consciousness left me again.

...Am I truly dead...?

If so, Then is seeing light a usual thing? Perhaps I'm going to Valhalla? But... Hiccup... Is he okay?

...

Where is that awful smell coming from?! And Why does my face feel wet?!

Forcing an eye open(which I found almost quite painful in my current condition), I saw two blurs. One was smaller than the other... Could they be...?

Groaning, I tried regaining full control on my body. Of course it's very painful. It feels like I'm tied by metal chains while bleeding badly.

After a couple of seconds, I managed to get my vision steady and I saw...

Oh... Holy mother of Thor! Bolt and Swift!

"G-guys...? Is... that you...?" It was strenuous to even utter a word.

Both dragons looked at me with widened eyes and they chirped in excitement as they both nuzzled me...

Normally I'd feel all warm and fuzzy but with the pain I'm feeling... Ouch.

"Guys... It hurts... Please stop that..." I told them. They then both backed away.

I tried standing up but the pain forced me back down. The two dragons looked at me with concern. I grunted and tried yet again.

A couple of tries later, I just gave up...

I slumped down on my bed and sighed. The two dragons let out a growl of concern. I smiled weakly at them...

I then heard the door open and some footsteps. I then saw Gobber come up the stairs. He looked surprised to see me awake.

We stared at each other in an awkward silence... Until Gobber broke the silence...

"Well... Wasn't expecting you to be awake, Marcus." Gobber said.

I chuckled lightly. "I didn't expect to be alive either, Gobber." I said while rolling my eyes... I mean, eye.

"Well... You probably know about your... recent loss." Gobber said, seemingly hesitant.

I didn't know what he meant. But then... My head reached for my left eye(Of course I know it was damaged). The only thing I felt was soft cotton. And... I don't think I can feel my left eye...

"Gobber... What happened to my left eye?" I asked.

Gobber shifted for a bit. "Well... It was damaged badly and... We had no other choice than... remove it." He answered.

I tensed. So... Was that the immense pain I felt? I suppose I should've expected that. Sooner or later, It has to be removed...

"What about hiccup?" I asked Gobber, forgetting all about my left eye.

Gobber became even more hesitant. "Oh... He's fine... Lost a leg but... He'll be fine." He said, quietly muttering the "losing a leg" part.

Yet again, My body tensed at hearing that. Hiccup...? Hurt...?!

With forced strength, I got up from my bed, ignoring the pain.

"M-marcus! You have to stay in bed! You're still recovering!" Gobber yelled.

I ignored him. "I... I have to see him! I have to make sure he's okay!" I yelled back, the pain almost unbearing.

Step by step, My vision fades... But my friend is more important... I just... need to...

"Marcus!"

Exhaustion claimed me once again...

Bolt's POV

Marcus had pushed his body too far. He collapsed before he even reached the stairs. The half limbed man(I really should learn his name) sighed and picked up his limp body and settled it back to the bed. I glanced at Marcus with worry.

Who knew Marcus would go so far as ignore his injuries just to see his human friend? Then again I don't know Marcus that much yet.

The half limbed man turned to look at me and Swift. "Keep an eye on him will you?" He requested.

Both of us nodded.

As he left, I looked at Marcus again before making my way outside.

"And where are you going?" Swift asked.

"Out. Need some fresh air." I answered as I left.

Once outside, I took a deep breath and glanced at my surroundings. Dragons of all shapes and sized were all around Berk. No one was attacking each other with sharp pointy metal sticks(Swords) and Claws and Fire breaths. Just... Peace.

Who would've thought that this was possible? I had long given up hope in seeing peace between dragons and humans. I had thought it was Impossible. 300 hundred years... And it took two small humans to make a difference. Goes to show you that even the smallest have great potential.

I wondered around the village until I made it to the chief's house. I then saw Toothless hanging around outside. Toothless acknowledged my presence with a stare.

I then asked, "Has your rider recovered?".

"No... He has awoken a couple of minutes but passed out not too long." Toothless answered.

Funny. That's what Marcus did not long ago.

We stared at each other again. Perhaps this is what humans call an awkward moment?

"... Once both of our riders have healed, You wanna... race?" I asked.

Toothless snorted. "You're really that prideful?" He said.

"No... The air seems... awkward, as the humans call it." I said.

"Sure..." Toothless said, seemingly not convinced.

... I can tell we're going to get along just fine.

Some unknown Time later, Marcus's POV

My eyes... I mean eye, fluttered open... How many times must this happen?

I stood up from my bed and traced a hand to my left eye...

Gone... Oh well... I still have my right eye...

I tried getting out of my bed but almost fell down.

Well, I would've fell down If I had not felt something stop my descent. Bolt.

"Thanks, Bolt." I said. Bolt chirped in a "You're welcome" tone. Guess I've gotten weak staying in bed for too long...

I wobbled towards downstairs and out of the door, with the help of Bolt. Swift was downstairs too.

Once I regained the strength to walk properly, I opened the door...

Only to be greeted by a bucket of water showering down on me... All the while hearing the laughter of Snotlout...

'When will the opportunity to kill that brainless fool arise?' The frostbite part of my head questioned.

"Oh man! You should've seen the look on your face!" Snotlout laughed.

I used my hand to get the hair off my face and gave snotlout a cold stare, to which he replied by gulping and backing away slowly.

I then noticed that he wasn't alone. The twins, Fishlegs and Astrid were here as well.

"Well... Certainly not what I expected to see when I first wake up." I said, while showing a hint of anger due to that little prank.

The twins laughed nervously. "Yeah well... Before you kill anyone, We just want you to know it was Snotlout's idea." Tuffnut said.

Snotlout mumble something I could not discern. I was thinking about what ways I could torture the boy until something hit me... Metaphorically, of course.

My eye widened and I rushed past them, my mind dead set on my destination...

In my hurry(and due to being drenched), I failed to notice the dragons that were behind each one of them.

At Hiccup's House

After rushing past through dozens of Vikings, I made it.

I opened the door and was surprised to see Toothless there. Of course that didn't matter in my mind now.

I rushed to Hiccup's side, who was starting to wake up. His eyes fluttered open and stared at us.

"Hey, Marcus... Hey, Toothless." Hiccup muttered.

Toothless then nudged hiccup and accidentally stepped on his stomach, causing him to jerk up.

"Ow!" hiccup exclaimed.

When Hiccup scanned his surroundings, He then finally registered one thing...

"Toothless is in my house..." He mumbled.

"Yes... Toothless is in your house." I echoed.

Toothless, excited seeing hiccup awake, jumped all around the house.

"Does my dad know you're here?" Hiccup asked Toothless, who is still jumping around.

"Toothless! Oh come on..." Hiccup's voice trailed off. He lifted the blanket and...

I gasped. Toothless stopped jumping around and approached hiccup.

Hiccup sighed. He got out of bed and tried to walk. He nearly fell down if it wasn't for me and Toothless.

"Thanks, guys." Hiccup said.

"Don't mention it." I told him. Toothless crooned in the same way.

We helped hiccup to the door and when Hiccup was finally able to stand properly, He opened the door.

A Nightmare's roar greeted him.

Hiccup slammed the door and Told me and Toothless to stay here.

When he opened the door, We saw snotlout on top of the same Nightmare.

"Come on, Guys! Get ready!" He shouted.

Hiccup and I stood in shock. We walked out of the door and stared in awe as dragons were everywhere.

"I knew it. I'm dead." Hiccup said.

A laugh came from behind us. "No. But you gave it your best shot." It was Stoick. "So... What do you think?"

When the villagers saw us, They immediately greeted us and swarmed at us.

"Turns out all we needed was a little more of... this." Stoick said, gesturing at hiccup.

"You just gestured to all of me." Hiccup said. Stoick wore a look of pride and happiness at that comment. A genuine one, of that I am sure.

"Well. Most of you." Gobber suddenly spoke up. "That bit's my handiwork. With a little hiccup flare thrown into it. You think that'll do?"

"I might make a few tweaks." Hiccup joked. Everyone laughed.

Suddenly, A certain someone punched hiccup in the shoulder(That I'd usually punch).

"That's for scaring me." Astrid said.

"What?! Is this always gonna be this way?! 'Cause-?!" Hiccup was cut off when Astrid suddenly kissed him... On the lips.

For a moment, I thought my brain stopped working.

"... I could get used to it." Hiccup said.

I snorted. "You know... I think Stoick wouldn't mind if you two had some alone time." I joked.

Hiccup's face turned red so much it's as red as a Nightmare's scales. I laughed.

Gobber then gave hiccup something. A red prosthetic tail fin with a Viking symbol on it. "Welcome home."

Hiccup smiled until...

"Night Fury!"

"Get down!"

Toothless burst out of the door and came to hiccup, excitedly.

Once Hiccup managed to get the tail fin on, I had managed to find Bolt.

Astrid was by Hiccup's right and I was on his left.

"Ready?" Hiccup asked. Toothless crooned.

"Being kept in bed has really got me itching for a flight. Ready, Bolt?" I asked my dragon. Bolt crooned as well.

This is Berk. It snows nine months a year and Hails the other three.

We took off.

Any food that grows here is tough and Tasteless.

Diving in, We screamed excitedly and zoomed across the village.

The people that grow here are even more so. Much to be expected.

We flew through the docks and laughed at the shocked faces of the Vikings.

The only thing good here is the pets.

We were then joined by Fishlegs and the others.

Well, other places have ponies or parrots. We have...

Hiccup and I flew higher to the sky

"Dragons!" Me and Hiccup shouted.

Now it may looked like the end of our story. But believe me, It had only begun.
