Caroline Forbes has always been a dreamer. She's always wanted to see the world, (whether she wants to admit it or not). Mystic Falls seems to be the town that holds everyone back and people tend to stay. Caroline won't admit it, but she's always dreamed of making it out.

Caroline Forbes is not the average teenager, she's dead, (well, undead, but that's beside the point) and after she turned into a vampire, her dreams of making it out of Mystic Falls grew deeper. Stronger.

She curses herself now because she had the chance to get out, but she didn't. She remember's the voice like it was yesterday; silky and smooth, with lips pressed beside her ear.

"Perhaps one day, in a year, or even in a century you'll turn up at my door and let me show you what the world has to offer. You mark my words. A small town boy, a small town life, it won't be enough for you," If he only knew how right he'd been.

The truth was, she had been scared.

What she had told the boy, correction, man, in the woods had been the truth.

"I'm scared of you!" She'd hissed, her breath catching as he inched his body closer to her own. Even though it hadn't really been him, she knew the words he spoken that day had rang out to be the truth of his own. He really hadn't wanted to move on, but she had simply forced him to.

Now, she's building a life for herself. She's trying to force her way through school, (God only knows why, she's a vampire, she has eternity) deep down, she's trying to be normal.

She been trying to push Klaus's words out of her mind since the day he spoke them. She can't.

Caroline's sitting in her dorm, textbooks spread open on her bed. She's sitting in the middle, tapping her pencil on her knee. As she glances at her homework, she just wants to say screw it, and walk out the door.

She looks at Elena, chewing at her lip. "Am I normal?"

Elena looks up from her phone. "What?"

"Am I normal?" Caroline asks again, growing impatient waiting for an answer.

"We're vampires Care," Elena says softly. "We're not exactly normal."

"Right," Caroline nods, busying herself back into her work.

Half an hour later, Caroline reaches for her phone.

"Caroline,"

"Hi," She answers shyly, drumming her fingers on the side of her textbook. "Are you busy?" It's a stupid question, but she doesn't have a clue what to say.

"What's the problem now?" He sighs. "Damon, or is the doppelganger? Or is it the lovely witch Bonnie?"

"No. Nothing like that. I was wondering if you had time to talk," She shakes her head as she gets up from her bed and walks out of her dorm.

"You're calling me now, love?" He chuckles through the line.

"I was desperate, okay?" She teases.

"Is that so?" She can almost see his smile.

"Shut up!" Caroline hisses, "I'll hang up on you!"

"What's the real reason you called? Hmm?"

"Fine," She sighs. "You caught me. I was thinking about you. It's one of those nights where nothing makes sense and all my thoughts seem to be jumbled. I can't keep my head out of the clouds and the playlist on my cell just wasn't helping tonight."

"You were thinking about me?"

"That's the only thing you got out of everything I just told you?" She rolls her eyes, "I'm at a crossroads right now. I've caught myself on many occasions, not just tonight, thinking about you. I'm just not sure if I'm ready to give everything up yet. God," Caroline sighs, "I don't know what to do."

She's midway through with using every curse word in the book, (mentally) when she hears Klaus laughing on the line. She rasies her brows, "Are you laughing?" She questions, wishing she could see his face so he could see her reaction.

"No," He says, cutting the laugh short.

"Yes you were too!" She hisses, "This is serious!" She tries her hardest to keep her voice straight as she speaks, her teeth locked on the inside of her mouth. She can't help it, she's grinning within seconds.

"Sorry," He says, (although he's not) pressing his lips in a line. "But come on, haven't you heard the old saying about following your heart, not your head?"

"I've heard it," She says quickly, (it's a defense method for her own stupidity) "But those kind of sayings were only supposed to go with fairy tales and bedtime stories."

"So are vampire's and werewolf's sweetheart, but we exist,"

Damn. He's right, yet again. She's cursing the hybrid as she responds, "Whatever," It's not great, but it's the best answer she can come up with.

He's grinning again. "I'll tell you what, you can call me back when you've found your answer,"

"Klaus," She sighs, but when she begins to go on, all she's met with is the long beep on the line. He's hung up on her. "Ass," She hisses under her breath, leaning against the wall with her phone still beeping in her hand. Rolling her eyes, she tucks her phone into her back pocket.

She has some decision making to do.

Ah, I've seriously missed you guys! While TVD is on a hiatus, (yet again) I'm going to be breaking out my creative writing guns again. :) Prepare for some new oneshots.

Now, I know this is rather short, but I'm kind of a big fan of those open ended oneshots. *evil smirk*

I would love some feedback! :)

XOXO,

Megan.
