Chapter 6
Meanwhile in Mirkwood
Grover's POV
Annabeth being angry was an understatement. She was absolutely furious that the Elven King confined us to such a small place.
"Who does he think he is to keep us locked up here like animals?!"
"The king… And we're not in the dungeons anymore as well Annabeth. It's not so bad and you know; nature is nice." I tried to calm her but I was nervous too. Percy was somewhere out there as was Thalia, Nico, Travis, and Connor.
"Percy is out there! I have no clue where my boyfriend is or my other friends. We can't stay here Grover, we just can't. They have to let us go, they have no right to keep us here at all. We didn't do anything… Well I may have beaten up a guard and broke out of jail a dozen times but they had no reason to put us there in the first place! Αυτό είναι απίστευτο!" (This is unbelievable!) Annabeth shouted the last part in Greek as she paced back and forth in the hallway.
"Annabeth, calm down." I said as I walked over to her and grabbed her shoulders.
"Percy is okay. I can feel that he is okay. Maybe a bit confused and panicked but he's okay and he has that curse so he isn't easily hur-"
"If that spot is hit he dies! Only I know where it is and I can't protect him if I'm here and he's not!" Annabeth leaned against the wall and tried to calm down.
"Maybe we can ask the king to send out letters or something. Maybe we will get a response and know where he is. We know he's here just not his location." Then her eyes snapped open as I spoke.
"He won't send letters but I have a better idea! Grover you're right he's here! Somewhere, so I need to focus on him!" Annabeth was lit up with a new energy as she ran into her room and pulled a bronze plate from her bag. I smiled widely once I realized what she meant. Annabeth ran onto her balcony and threw it into the air as it took the form of a shield. Some gasps were heard below but neither of us cared as I went beside her. She kneeled down and moved the shield around until the sunlight hit it and she focused hard on the shield. Then an image came into view. I bit back a laugh as I saw Nico and Percy scrubbing black walls. They were speaking but we couldn't hear what.
"That's them…" Annabeth smiled to herself as the image changed to a white city. If only we knew where that city was things would be more helpful.
Meanwhile in Gondor
Percy's POV
"Is it at all suspicious to you that Gandalf already had the buckets of water?" I asked as I was scrubbing walls with Nico. It wasn't really coming off well and I grumbled under my breath. How was I dragged into this?! I wasn't involved in it.
"He's a wizard, what do you expect?" Nico asked as he dropped the cloth into the bucket.
"Why are you making this so difficult on us? The king and wizard are gone and we can do this a lot faster another way." Nico said and I looked at him a bit confused. He then motioned to the water and my eyes widened in understanding.
"Oh that's right! Hold on." I put my cloth down to and focused on the water as it rose in the air and attacked the wall. The water moved up and down the walls not touching the floor, slowly the black was coming off in the water.
"Next time refrain from making the white room black, you're lucky Gandalf only is making us do this."
"What's the big deal? Besides it's too white." Nico said with a bit of disgust. Even though it was somewhat nice I had to agree with him. It wouldn't hurt to throw a bit of blue or green into the mix to liven things up.
"Still… How did you even get the coal and all?" I asked.
"Well despite what you might think I did find out something useful." Nico started and I looked over at him waiting for him to continue.
"My powers were not affected by moving worlds. I can't feel my father's presence but I felt something else. I shadow travelled to get the coal and there is something dark. Very dark and evil in the shadows Percy, something is wrong here." What Nico said troubled me and I looked back at the water scrubbing the black off the walls.
Aragorn's POV
We left the two children in Nico's now black room. It was startling what he had done in a matter of minutes and how did he do it? My brow furrowed as I tried to think of a way he could do so much is so little time. There was no coal in his room before; the only coal was in the back of the kingdom. He never left the hall yet he acquired so much, did he scale the walls? No there would be no time for such things. Then there was Percy, his last question left me uneasy. What sort of creature was wondering around that was part goat.
"It seems there is more to those two then meets the eye." Gandalf said and I nodded silently as we made our way to the study. We walked in and I took a seat at the desk and Gandalf pulled up a chair.
"They are not telling us everything." I said and looked at Gandalf who lit his pipe and nodded thoughtfully.
"No, they are not. Everyone has secrets, as I'm sure you already know." Gandalf watched me and I nodded. I had my own set of secrets as well, but something about the children was unsettling. I could feel the power radiating off of them, and somehow I just knew it would spell trouble for my kingdom.
"We are not here to speak of the children, Aragorn. I fear something may be rising from the shadows. You dream is similar to that of Lord Elrond's vision." Gandalf paused slightly to let those words sink in. I felt myself becoming more on edge as he spoke again. "You both have seen the children, who we can assume is the ones who have arrived here."
"But there are only two here. I saw-"
"Seven I know. The older boy, Perseus, said there were more with him at one point but they were separated. I know that there were said to be three in the Shire. As for the other two I am not sure. We will have to see where they have landed."
"That could be anywhere Gandalf."
"I'm aware. We should start sending out notices then to our allies."
"How can we be sure that these are the children?" I asked and Gandalf smiled.
"We are not, but they must play some part yet in events to unfold. We shall we how they are involved later. But Aragron, something dark is stirring once more."
"Impossible, not so soon after Sauron's defeat would another evil rise."
"It will try to attack while you are weakened but you must not let it. Aragorn, I advise you that you call your armies and do tighter patrols."
"They have just finished their war Gandalf; we must allow them a moment's breath."
"We must be prepared."
Meanwhile in the Shire
Travis's pov
It was a long flight to Gondor and to be honest I may have done my fair share of praying to Talia's dad on the way over. But to be fair; between the flying the eagles and you know exploiting her worst fear I felt like it was a little bit necessary.
Thalia spent the first half of the flight with her head buried in the feathers of her eagle screaming her head off. But much to my ears relief she ran out of breath and passed out, which as I will admit was a bit concerning but hey it's the sky, she'll be fine.
She woke up before we landed in Gondor, Merry pointed out the white city out to her and she made the mistake of looking away from the feathers of the bird which she promptly covered her eyes with after seeing the great distance from her and the ground. It was funny at first but her fear of flying was starting to wake up what bits of a conscience I have...When the birds landed Conner and I hopped off, he ran over to check to see if she had thrown up or anything during the ordeal.
"So Thalia did you like the view?" he shouted while approaching her. She stiffened, still on the bird; her grip on the feathers grew tighter.
"... Conner... YOU SPAWN OF TAURTUARUS!" she leaped off the bird and tackled my brother, and began to pummel the Hades out of him. Running up to the two grabbing her arm I tried to pull her off of him.
"LET GO OF ME!" She yelled pushing me away with her godly/immortal Girl Scout strength. I landed a few feet away from her; I got back onto my feet just in time for her to kick me in the chest putting me back on the ground.
"Thalia I'm sorry!" I yelled trying to stop my impending death by disembowelment. She however took no notice in my pleas (which in hindsight is fair) and punched me in my stomach.
"I HATE FLYING!" I lifted myself up still sitting on the ground with my back now against a tree, looking up I looked her in eyes for the first time, they were watering, she, the bad-ass lieutenant of Artemis, was on the verge of crying. But once again, that was overshadowed by the fact that she was going to end my life.
"Thalia I'm sorry!" I said again, she pulled her fist back again and I braced for the incoming nose breaker, and with that punch she took out a serious chunk; of the tree right next to my head. Opening my eyes again I watched her fall to her knees and bury her head in her arms, saying nothing just sitting there quiet.
"I hate you." she said looking up, I could see here holding back tears in her eyes.
Now I've done a lot of mean things to satisfy my sadistic sense of humor, and because of it I've been cursed, beaten, expelled, lit on fire and even stabbed... Made someone as tough as Thalia cry? Never. Now I'm going to be honest about my feelings since Thalia was fairly visual with hers. I feel... Damn near godlike! I'm about to make the daughter of Zeus cry! Hahaha take that! I know you can't say the same Thalia but I know my father would be proud! Well this might get me killed but whatever. I moved forward.
"Thalia I'm sorry, I didn't mean to…"
I never finished my sentence, Thalia never cried but she did however leap onto me and started screaming "Θα σου στείλω στον άδη" (I'll send you to hades) and proceeded to beat me merrily on the ground.
"Thalia, no!" Conner yelled in the background. That was his only attempt to stop her from ending me. Luckily I was saved from death by guards running out of the white city to us. Merry and Pippin (the unhelpful lot they are) did nothing when Thalia was beating me but I could tell Pippin was at least on the verge of laughing. Merry looked amused but he didn't show how badly he wanted to laugh, but his eyes betrayed him a little.
"Θα ήθελα να σας σκοτώσουν δύο! Θα σας δω Άδη πολύ σύντομα!" (I will kill you two! You will be seeing Hades very soon!) Thalia shouted as she was pulled off of me from the Guards grabbing her. Thalia tried to kick one and almost succeeded but luckily for him, he moved a bit so she missed. But then she tried to stomp on his foot.
"Don't resist Thalia! Just let it happen!" I shouted teasingly.
Note: So funnily enough, Trevor wrote the Shire part while he was actually on a Plane for the first time. So I think that helped inspire him with Thalia's behavior. Anyways I hoped you enjoyed this chapter and there is more to come.
