Note:
Hey sorry this is late, I won't make excuses for it. I was simply being lazy with updating; so sorry. But here it is, I wrote Mirkwood parts and my boyfriend was writing the Gondor parts. Enjoy.
Meanwhile in Mirkwood
Grover's POV
Annabeth stared at the video shield bright eyed when we found Percy. However the happiness was short lived because soon we heard the door knob turning. Annabeth quickly made the shield return to its plate from before grabbing a few other items out of her bag to make it seem like she was simply putting things away in the room. She was right on time too because the door opened revealing two elves.
"We are here to show you around and let you know where your boundaries are when it comes to leaving. Enethel will also help get gowns for the young lady." The elf said while motioning to a girl. She had red hair and green eyes; she wore a light green dress. The man had long black hair and blue eyes; he was wearing brown pants and a darker forest green shirt. Both the elves turned and walked out of the door motioning us to follow them. Annabeth and I quickly left the room and to catch up with them. I knew when I looked at Annabeth that she did not like being interrupted from seeing Percy from the shield.
Meanwhile in Gondor
Percy's POV
"Hey Percy come and look at this." looking over I could see Nico with his head sticking out the window he was washing, but his bucket and rag now at his feet. He and I both have fairly active ADHD by all means but he is persistent on fixing this room... And he was the one who stained it black in the first place.
"Come on man, I just want to get this over with so could you please stop taking breaks to look at every odd thing out there?" I said a little upset that I was the one doing most of the work. I wonder if this is how Annabeth used to feel around me.
"I found Thalia." he said, and I... I nearly kicked the bucket into the hall when I ran over to the window; nearly running into Nico fast enough to push him out.
"Where is she!?" I yelled, maybe Annabeth will be with her! I scanned the massive white city until my eyes were drawn to a large group of guards marching to the castle. The guards in the front were being led by two kids by the looks of it, and in the back were to boys in matching orange shirts and behind them were a handful of guards dragging a girl who was kicking and punching at them through the streets.
"That's Conner and Travis, but I don't see Grover or Annabeth among them. I'm sorry Percy." I looked over at Nico who was leaving the stained room. I looked back out the window one last time to see what direction my friends were being dragged before running out into the hall to catch up with Nico.
We ran past the guards standing outside our room, and down the hall, running out the front gates of the castle. We were running through the streets of the city until we ended up at the fountain that we crash landed here the first day.
"You two seem to be somewhere in a hurry." We turned and found a man in a green cloak standing in the shadow a building. I out of instinct reached for riptide, but stopped myself I almost forgot celestial bronze won't work on humans; assuming that's what he is. I started to back towards the fountain.
While I backed away, Nico stepped forward. "Well we saw your guards dragging a friend of ours through the streets and we wanted to see her." Did he say his guards? I watched the man pull his hood back so the light could shine on his face; Aragorn stood before us not in a king's armor but a cloak.
"Gandalf went already to bring them here; he told me that you two would end up here eventually."
"What's with the cloak?" I asked
"The cloak... Well it's hard for a king to travel around a town when he is easily spotted." He said to us and I had the feeling that he did this quite often.
"Ah there they are, what did I tell you Aragorn? If we they saw their friends they would fight an army to get to them." I watched as Gandalf walked up to us from a side alley he was followed by Thalia and the Stoll brothers. Once Thalia saw me she ran to me
"Percy!" she yelled.
"Long time no se..." I tried to finish that sentence but she cut me off with a full punch to my face, knocking me off my feet and sending me straight to the ground.
"How dare you leave me with those two idiots?!" She screamed.
"Funny, your skull is not as thick as usual. Never mind that. Now where's Annabeth I need to talk to her."
Nico answered her for me, as I was still on the ground in a bit of pain. "We don't know; we were hoping she was with you. But by the looks of it she's either somewhere alone or with Grover."
"Hades, I was hoping she could send me back home I need to rejoin with Artemis soon." Thalia said. Nico look a bit annoyed at the use of his father's name but Gandalf spoke before he could.
"Don't fret, I guarantee the safety of your other friends." I looked back to Gandalf who rejoined the conversation to easy Thalia's mind.
"I've been sending letters everywhere and I've heard of rumors from the earthla-." In that moment his face that I've only every seen smile, grew pail and took on an expression of pure fear. "No, it cannot be. That's impossible." He muttered to himself, gripping his staff until his knuckles turned white.
Aragorn must have seen what Gandalf did, because he had grabbed a city guard and was yelling at the man "Sound the alarms! Tell everyone to take cover in their homes!" Guards took action quickly and ushered the towns people back into their homes.
I had stood up off the ground and was starting to feel restless; like I needed to move around, just as I always did before a battle. The sun dimmed for a moment as if a small and quick cloud had passed under it.
"Percy..." I looked over at Nico, Thalia and the Stolls who had already drawn their weapons. I followed suit and pulled riptide out of my pocket the pen turned into its alternate form, I held the sword in my right hand and started to back into the fountain in the square. The heal of my foot hit the side of the fountain, and there was silence. No birds, no people just the wind and the water.
Then a load and powerful roar filled the air, almost a screech, and definitely from a monster. I could feel shivers run through my body down to my bones. The sun was blocked by a shadow again, this time I looked at what was blocking it. My heart stopped at the sight of it.
"Gods no..."
Meanwhile in Mirkwood
Grover's POV
Annabeth was making sure that her video shield was well hidden in her room across the hall from mine. She insisted that we only speak about it in Greek to make sure that they don't try to take it. I thought she was being a bit overly cautious about the whole situation but she insisted that it was better this way. After all we were imprisoned the entire time we were here. Before it was the obvious cells but now it was being contained to this wing of the palace.
I nervously crossed the hall over to her room, completely aware of the eyes watching us from down the hall. It turns out that the King does not fully trust us, so he has guards at the end of the hall to keep an eye on us. I tried not to look over at the guards and the cold, calculating stares they had trained on me. I quickly knocked on the door and Annabeth opened it rather quickly.
"Come on in, we need to talk about Percy." She said as she grabbed my arm and pulled me into the room while shutting the door. I stayed by the door as Annabeth walked over to her bed. The shield was put under her mattress for the time being and she slowly pulled it out. I could barely hear the guards moving a bit closer. They did this every time the two of us were together in a room.
"They want to ensure that we will not escape." Annabeth said as she laid the shield on the ground. She activated it and then focused on Percy as she did before. He came into view looking out a window with Nico this time. Annabeth's brow furrowed slightly as she watched Percy and Nico leaving the room; not knowing that they saw.
I was trying to watch the shield but a sound on the walls distracted me. It sounded like a fast tapping sound that seemed to be getting louder and louder. I looked to Annabeth but she seemed too absorbed into watching the shield to notice. I slowly stood up and looked around the room before looking towards the balcony. It seemed to be coming from that side of the room. That was when a large and familiar shadow fell over the window. Everything happened so fast. Glass shattered and the room door was thrown open. Annabeth screamed as arrows flew across the room just barely missing us.
Note:
Well we hoped you liked this chapter and the next two to three chapters will be filled with action packed scenes and hopefully decent fighting. I don't know when the next chapter will be out but hopefully soon. Anyways any guesses on what's attacking in Mirkwood and in Gondor? (hint: it is not the same creature)
