Note:
So I would like to apologize for not posting sooner. Trevor and I have both been very busy, he more so than I, and we haven't had time to create a chapter together. I want to assure my worried readers that this is NOT abandoned but posting will be sporadic.
Also, a good friend of mine, Dusk, has decided to help me with Greek translations and so the Greek part should be more accurate from now on. So she's awesome!
In Mirkwood
Grover's POV – Third Person
Grover shifted nervously as we were walked at a fast pace down the halls and out of the quarters that they had been in for less than a day. Night fell over the Elven city and the now dead giant spiders lie dead under the balcony of the room Annabeth was to stay in. Grover worried about what was going to happen to them now and glanced over at Annabeth who looked calm and collected; completely different from the shrieking girl she was only five minutes ago as the attack from the spiders ended. However her eyes shifted from elf to elf then to the dwarf Gimli, deep down he knew that she was just as panicked as he was about this whole situation; she merely hid it better than the Saytr did.
He worried about multiple things at the moment; would they be sent down to the dungeons again? Could they leave freely or would they be put under even stricter surveillance? Would they think that he and Annabeth were witches or spies or something? The Saytr couldn't help but wish that he had some tin cans to snack on to distract him a bit. Unfortunately that wasn't going to happen right now and he knew it, so he tried to no let on how nervous and worried he really was; but he felt like that the elves could see through it.
As they entered the throne room the worry inside the Saytr nearly doubled as he looked at the Elven King who sat upon his throne. His icy blue eyes seemed colder than they were before and he was studying the Demi-God and Saytr but just like the first time he looked as calm as could be. He did not rise from his chair as he did last time when he spoke to Grover and Annabeth; no, he remained seated as his voice projected around the entire thrown room.
"I have been told that there has been some interesting events surrounding the two of you. The constant escapes from out prison cells being the first. The spiders risking things that they have never attempted before; coming into my kingdom and going directly to you two. Then to have a looking glass discovered among your personal belongings." He waved his hand forward as the Elf who discovered their video shield hurried forward with the bronze shield, which now looked like a plate, wrapped in a sheet and handed it to the King.
"Care to explain what a human child and some type of creature were doing with such an object?" The King's voice was cold and cut through the Saytr like butter. Annabeth was the one to answer the Elven King.
"It is mine, and I had it made." Annabeth answered in a calm and cold tone. It probably have potential to be intimidating had the elves not heard and witnessed her screaming her head off in the presence of spiders. Or if her voice didn't crack from the loss of her voice due to said creatures. The Elven King focused more on the young Demi-God after she spoke.
"You had it made, was it to spy on Gondor?"
"No. I don't even know what Gondor is. My friend and I are not from here and my reasons for having that shield made are my reasons and mine alone." Annabeth answered stubbornly and stared the King straight in the eyes. She did not back down and honestly Grover was not all surprised by the action on her part. Annabeth was not trusting enough of these people to give away information about their home or say anything about her status as a half mortal half god.
"Looking glasses are dangerous to use young lady. You never know who may be watching you as well, it is unwise to use such things frequently. You claim you did not have this created to spy on Gondor, yet you will not tell us why you created it at all. We will not risk the possibility of spies in our Kingdom or for them to spy on our allies." Grover felt his blood run cold as the King spoke. The last sentence seemed to be a threat similar, if not worse, than the last one he gave them of 'unfavorable consequences'. The Saytr worried for the safety of his friend as well as himself at this point, would the king lock them up, or silence them permanently. Just the thought of Annabeth and himself being executed caused Grover to bleat in response.
"Y-Your highness, we do not pose a threat to you or your people. A-Annabeth and I were not the ones who activated the shield this last time-"
"Grover!" Annabeth cried out at my mistake. But it was already too late to take back what I had said.
"So you have been using this looking glass more than once sense you have arrived in my Kingdom. You have also kept it hidden from us until one of our own happened to stumble upon the cursed object." The King said and waved his hand towards us in a dismissive manner as he spoke to his Royal Guards.
"Gadorna ti." (To the dungeons with them.) The Elven King spoke in a language they did not understand and guards swarmed them instantly. Annabeth growled and tried to push them away from her but they restrained her arms as well as Grover's and lead them down the hall. Thoughts of terror rolled around in his mind as to where we may be headed, but he started to feel relief as Grover saw the familiar twists and turns, then stair cases leading us underground to the dungeons. It was better than the worse of his thoughts; execution. The two were put into cells across from one another. Grover looked across from his cell at Annabeth, some of the worry left him as the elves left them alone in their cells.
Her eyes seemed to glow with new determination as she stared at the wall of her personal cell. The Saytr could not blame them for not trusting the two of them to be within the same holding cell anymore, after all; they did sort of ruin multiple cells the first time around. Grover leaned against the rock wall of his cell while thinking of all the almost successful escape attempts. He only left those thoughts when Annabeth began speaking to him in Greek.
«Πρεπει να φυγουμε απο δω! Και πρεπει να παρουμε πισω τη βιντεο-ασπιδα.» (We have to get out of here! We need to get the video shield back too.)
«Και πως θα το κανουμε αυτο? Δεν ξερουμε καν που την εχουν.» (How do we do that? We don't even know where they put it.)
«Δεν ξερω.» (I don't know.) Annabeth said and for a moment she paused while looking down at her closed fists.
«Αλλα θα βρουμε καποιον τροπο να επανακτησουμε την ασπιδα. Θα βρουμε και τον Περσι. Το κυριοτερο, θα αποδρασουμε το πρωι. Εχουμε καμποσες ωρες να καταστρωσουμε ενα σχεδιο.» (But we will find a way to retrieve the shield. We will find Percy too. Most importantly we will escape in the morning. We have a few hours to make a plan.)
«Πως θα την παρουμε πισω?» (How do we get it back?) Grover asked. Annabeth's brow furrowed in thought and she rested her chin on the palm until she put together what she was to say next to her friend.
«Ενδεχομενως να κρατουν την ασπιδα καπου, οπου νομιζουν οτι θα ειναι ασφαλης, μεχρι να αποφασισουν τι να την κανουν. Υποθετω πως ο Βασιλιας θα ηθελε να την εχει απο κοντα. Οποτε, πιθανοτατα θα βρισκεται στην αιθουσα του θρονου η στο προσωπικο του γραφειο - αν εχει.» (They likely are keeping my shield somewhere they think it is safe until they think of what to do with it. My guess is that the King will want to keep a close eye on it. So it will probably be in this throne room or perhaps a private office if he has one.) Annabeth answered as she walked to the door of her cell and leaned against it while looking at Grover in his cell.
«Πρεπει να αποδρασουμε το πρωι. Μπορει να ειναι η τελευταια μας ευκαιρια. Αρα θα πρεπει να ειμαστε πολυ γρηγοροι και ας ελπισουμε να εχω δικιο για την ασπιδα. Θα ειναι ο μονος τροπος να επιβλεπουμε τον Περσι.» (We have to escape in the morning. It might be our last chance. So we will have to be quick and hope that I'm right about the shield. It will be the only way to keep taps on Percy.) Annabeth continued. Grover swallowed nervously and looked at the daughter of Athena.
«Και αν δεν μπορεσουμε να
βρουμε την ασπιδα?» (And if we can't find the shield?)
«Θα την αφησουμε πισω. Δεν ειναι και η καλυτερη εκδοχη, αλλα αν χρειαστει να την αφησουμε πισω προκριμενου να αποδρασουμε, ας ειναι.» (We leave it behind. It's not what I'd like to do, but if we have to leave it behind in order to escape then so be it.)
Meanwhile in Gondor
Thalia's POV
I sat on the corner of a roof of a crumbling building and watched as percy hacked and slashed through the dragon. No need to waste an arrow on the deer being eaten by the bear after all.
It wasn't until the dragon was dead that I jumped down from my perch, walking over to ask the foolish boy, what took him so long to kill a single dragon? But the lazy punk decided that now would be the right time to take a nap, and fall, right onto his smug face. I watched as the king tried to catch him, and miss, but I had questions to ask and Percy's health can wait.
"Dont mind Percy, he's just lazy. Now I've got to ask, have you seen Annabeth?" He looked shocked for a moment, as if he's never seen a girl shoot a dragon out of the sky before.
"No, I'm sorry she's not here, Percy's been looking for her as well." He said.
"Damn it to Hades!" I shouted. I could have sworn I heard Nico mumble something about not using his father in vain, but chose to ignore him.
"We need to go find her and I need to get back home already!" I turned away from Percy and the king. "CONNER! TRAVIS! Come out, we're leaving as soon as Percy wakes up!" I stood in the square for a moment waiting for a response, but there was none. I looked around the square but they weren't here. I waited a little longer, that's when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, four large teenage boy sized pots along a burnt wall. The pots were a little charred from the fire. But the ground around the pot on the far right was white in a small crescent shape along the base. I grinned, most devilishly, It's time for some revenge.
"Actually it looks like Percy is going to be out for a while and we might need to spend the night here in the castle." I looked over at Aragorn as I spoke, He looked a little confused at the moment. "So I'll be there if you need me Aragorn." I walked past the pots and around the corner before i quickly and quietly walked back to the square and sat down on a stone bench with my bow resting in my lap with four arrows. Then I waited for them to come out of hiding.
It wasn't much longer until one of the pots lids popped off and Connor stood up from inside it. "Well would, you look at that, Thought we were going to be roasted alive there." He said.
A second lid popped off and Pippen stood up. "Well who would have guessed it, we're dragon slayers, just like Ol'Bilbo."
The third lid popped off and Merry stood up. "We really didn't do much though, can we really compare ourselves to Bilbo?"
The final lid popped open and Travis stood up. "We'll just say we did, the only one who would say otherwise is Thali-."
That's when his eyes met mine. I stood, notched the four arrows on my drawstring and let the arrows fly at the group of fools. They all ducked back into their pots as the arrows embedded themselves into the stone wall right where they were standing just a moment before. I sat back down after that fun little prank.
Looking around I noticed that the buildings are less damaged than I would have thought they would have been in a dragon attack.
"Please move." I turned and saw Nico standing next to me, a stygian iron sword in one hand and a large loaf of bread in the other.
"What do you want?" I asked, a tad bit annoyed.
He didn't say anything, but he raised his sword and tapped the stone wall above me and the larger rocks at my feet shook and started rolling up the bench and wall to the large hole in the wall above fixing the crumbling building. Nico then walked over to the next building slowly while munching on his bread.
I looked over at Percy, who was still unconscious on the ground and then to the pots where the four boys were crawling out avoiding the arrows, then turning my gaze to my feet. The earthshaker and lieutenant of Artemis destroy, while the ghost king rebuilds. Ain't that a thought?
I was looking at my feet for what felt like an eternity, when the old man in grey sat down next to me. I looked up at him and he was struggling to light his pipe, I watched him struggle for an awkwardly long time before I grabbed a stick and lit the tip of it with some electricity.
"Here use this." I said.
"Oh thank you." He got his pipe going and smoked next to me in silence for a few minutes. It was uncomfortable, I was a few seconds away from leaving when he spoke to me.
"Only a black arrow fired from a dwarven wind lance can pierce the scales and hide of a dragon. All such weapons are long since forgotten. The last destroyed by Smaug the Golden. But you young lady banished a wyrm from the skies with a wooden arrow."
"It was really nothing."
"It really was quite something. An ordinary arrow fired from an ordinary bow by an extraordinary girl."
I laughed a little to myself before reaching over and grabbing his pipe for a quick smoke. "I'm not your average girl." I said as I smoked.
"No you're not." Said Percy. I looked up and saw him standing up from the ground, his clothes shredded and burnt. "Don't mind me though, just leave me on the ground. That's definitely what you do with an unconscious person." He said, his words drenched in sarcasm.
Gandalf chuckled to himself and I passed his pipe back to him. "We need to go to Erebor and seek counsel with the dwarves, they deserve to know of this threat."
Note:
This is just replies to reviewers. Honestly… I can't remember who all we have already replied to so I'm replying to all the chapter 8 comments. Here ya go, and if you want to skip this note you can, but if you're one of the reviewers feel free to read this part.
Wisdomgirl0924: "I love it! Their display of powers was cool :). And the characters were perfect :)" – Thank you for the review and I'm glad you liked it. Most of the Gondor parts are written by Trevor, he does a fantastic job!
Guest: "please continue writing this it's really good." – We will try, I hope you read our story again.
Glossette: "omg! Way to kill a dragon guys! Poor Annabeth :'( I'll be waiting next chapter! Keep up the great work :))" – I know right? They're like warriors! And yea, we felt we might have been a bit mean to Annabeth but I felt her break down was necessary.
Hi: "It was beautiful. More please. The grammar 's decent. The plot's good, and none of the characters are too OOC. The actions good and goes at a fast pace, but with enough detail it doesn't seem rushed. Oh my ... SPIDERS! ANYTHING BUT THE SPIDERS! I love spiders (from a scientific standpoint) but they're so terrifying! Speaking of spiders, I liked Annabeth's reaction. It was nice, even though it seemed kind of silly at times. Okay, if you have to scream, scream while you're killing the spiders, girl! (Granted, she did kill one and she did really freak out in the first book with the mechanical ones...) So it was good and pretty in character despite that. Grover's super cool. Thanks for tucking him in there nicely. All in all, this is a great story, keep up the good work!
Have a good day, XD" – Haha I loved writing the spider part and I know Trevor enjoyed writing the Dragon Fight. Haha, I love your review it was very thoughtful and we're trying to work on the grammar but both of us suck at that aspect of writing… I hope you will continue to read, I'm sorry it's been so long.
2lazy2login: "Loved it." – Good to know, thanks for the view.
A-Fighterlady: "Awesome" – glad you enjoyed it as well. I hope you like what's in store for the future.

please update! :)" – Thank you for your review and I'm happy you like the story and the plot. I will try to update more often but as I have said before no promises on it being soon.
Cassie Ruesch: "awesome" – Glad you liked it. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.
Guest: "Update soon please!" – Your prayer was answered (joking) but in all seriousness thanks for reviewing the story and we will try to update more often.
Longhour: "lol. You're doing such a great job. You really shouldn't abandon this story. :)" – Worry not, we have not abandoned this story and if we did we would likely put it up for adoption and we would inform you in an author's note.
