"Here..."
Yugi slowly looked up to be met with a pair of strong plum color eyes. She stared at the stranger for a moment before realizing the lenght of her silence and forming a blush. "Oh thank you." she said as she tenderly took the book from the boy. He gave her a warm smile before rising up from his kneeled position sweeping specs of dirty from his navy pants. "no problem." From his standing position, Yugi was able to get a good look at the boy in front of her. The boy had navy jacket along with a black under shirt. *Aren't those clothes from Domino High?* "Miss...miss" "huh?" Yugi said finally realizing that the boy has been talking to her this whole time. "uh...I'm sorry" This caused the boy to laugh a bit before holding his hand out towards the girl. "I was asking if you're ok?" "oh...uh...yea I'm fine" she said as she grab the boy's hand as he helped her up to her feet. The boy looked at her for a moment which made Yugi worry if the stranger could tell wheather or not she's been crying. "So, what bring you out here during a school day?" Yugi asked quickly trying to divert the attention away from her situation. "Oh I came to meet someone here" "Well it is a nice place to hang out." "Is that why you're here?" "Yes" Yugi looked around trying to think of something else to say, when her eyes landed on a chess set across the fountain. "Have you played chess before" the boy asked before Yugi could form words first. "I play sometimes with my dad." She said as they both moved over to the board. "Do you want to play a match or two while you wait for your friend." Yugi asked as she sat down at the board. "Sure, but I must warn you. I play with my grandfather all the time." the stranger said with a challenging grin. "Alright bring it on" she said matching his grin with one of her own.
"Oh no!" Yugi said looking at the pieces on the board. This caused the young man to laugh as he reach into his bag. "Told you I had a lot of pratice." "And I though that I almost had you too." Yugi said sadly with a playful pout. The boy pulled out his cellphone as he open the screen to look at the time. "What's wrong?" "I only have a few minutes left before I have to go back to class." "oh that's right you were waiting for your friend." Yugi said as she got up and checked the time on her phone as well. "Its almost time for me to go as well. I hope you find your friend...uh..." "Its Yami" the young man said with a smile. This cause Yugi to smile herself
"My name is Yugi, well Yami I hope we meet again." Yugi said waving to the boy before turning around to leave. Just then she heard a beeping sound come from her phone. She looked at it to see another text message.
Dark Magician: where are you? I'm already here.
Yugi looked up from her screen and scan the park. She couldn't see anyone else in the park besides the boy. Why would he say he's already there when she see no one else. She looked back at the chess set and once again amethyst eyes meet plum color eyes as realization dawn on her."You're Dark Magician?" with the same surprise expression Yami pointed his finger at the girl "And You're Mystical Elf?"
Yugi looked down at her phone with a big smile on her face as she changed the contact listing on her phone from Dark Magician to Yami. *I'm glad I got a change to finally meet him...and he's so nice.* She though as she walked down the hill away from her school to a cafe. "I wonder when we'll get a chance to meet again. I got to pratice chess more with dad, so I can win a game next time." Just then cold chill went down Yugi's spine as she heard a familiar voice enter the cafe. Panicking, she quickly went to the back of the cafe to one of the pravite booths and sat down. Three pairs of footsteps got closer as Yugi placed her head down on the table closing her eyes tightly, hoping that she wouldn't be seen. The group sat down in front of Yugi's booth making the teenage only tremble in fear of being discover. "I have to say that scholarship girl really pisses me off."said a girl with dark brown hair. "Sounds like Amber can't handle the competition." the girl with black hair teased "As if Ash, there's no way I'm losing to a peasant that came from a hick of a town." Amber replied as she gave a flip of her hair. "Besides I heard that the dean and her mom are friends, there's no way she got in on her own." the girl with dark blue hair said. "Kim's right everyone knows you're the smartest, Amber." "Yea you're right and the sooner that twerp knows her place and leave Blake Fall Academy the better." the other two girls agreed as Amber looked at her phone. "Hey you guys there's a sale going on down town, let's go" Amber said as the three girls got up leaving the cafe. Yugi finally let out the breath that she felt like she was holding as she finally sat up from the table. "You know I was here first." came a voice across from the table startling the teenager. For the first time since getting in the cafe, Yugi looked in front of her to see a boy with wild blonde hair and brown eyes with his head on the table. The boy looked at Yugi with a bored expression as Yugi looked down wishing she could drop through the floor at the moment. "So they were talking about you huh." the boy said getting her attention. "uh...you see..." "Save it" the blonde said as he got up grabbing his backpack. "From what I see, you don't own them anything. You wanted to go to the school for a reason right?" "y-yea" "Then don't let that princess and her posse get you down. No matter what they do, you keep doing your best with your head up high." Yugi looked at the blonde as he looked at his watch. "Damn it, I'm late" he said under his breath as he hurried out the door.
Yugi looked up at the ceiling of her room as the words of the blonde stranger replayed in her head. *Keep my head held high huh, do I have the strenght to do it...*
