Chapter 2
"Damn" Joey said under his breath as he noticed the time. Running out of the cafe, the blonde made a dash to his bike and down the street.
"You're late" came from a short older man as he stood in the door way of his store. Joey lean over onto his knees trying to catch his breath from pedaling at top speed. "Yea, I know gramps, sorry." "Good thing I need an extra pair of hands or I would have fired you on the spot." the old man mummbled as he turned around going into the store. Joey followed the older man into the shop as he led the blonde to the back of the store. In the back was a bunch of boxes stacked up all over the place. "You're first task will be to take inventory" the old man said as he handed Joey a clipboard with a pen attached. "I'll be back in a few hours to see how you're doing." With that said the old man left the room. "Well, things aren't going to get done with me standing around." Joey said as he linked his hands together popping them.
"Sorry I'm late grandpa." Yami said as he came into the door. "Honestly first the new employee now you, you kids don't own a watch anymore?" Yami's grandpa said as he placed the broom he had in his hands against the wall. "Ah, so the new employee's here; how's things going." "Besides having the face of a thug, he seems to be alright. He's hard working that's for sure. I peeked in on him to make sure he wasn't slacking off and to my surprise he's almost done organizing the inventory out back." "Really?" Yami asked with a surprised expression. For the last two weeks he remember his grandfather getting on his case to organized the overly stuffed room, but avoiding it as much as possible. Although not doing things that his grandfather ask isn't something he usually do, he cringed at the thought of spending hours moving the heavy boxes. "Here" Yami's grandfather said as he hand his grandson a tray with a sandwich and milk. "Why don't you go downstairs and give this to the employee." "Sure" Yami said as he took the tray and head downstairs. Once downstairs he saw the once disorganized room that had boxes stacked in different ways, now set in a more safe and organized fashion. The blonde haired boy was standing on a latter with two boxes stacked on top of each other in his hands. "Good Evening" "Um..." the boy responed as he put the last of the boxes away. "I'm Yami, the shopkeeper Mr. Motto's grandson." Yami said holding out his hand. The boy wiped the sweat off of his forehead as he reached for the other teen's hand. "Joey Wheeler" Just then the blonde lost his balance on the latter and begin to fall forward. Thinking quickly, Yami ran up and grabbed the blonde underneathe his arms using his weight to hold Joey up. "Are you ok?" Yami asked as the two seperated "Yea thanks man, the last thing I need is to get hurt." the blonde said with a slight blush rubbing the back of his head. "No problem, besides you saved me from having to spend my weekend down here." the two laughted as Joey walked over grabbing the glass of milk and drinking it down. "So...a gameshop, huh...why a gameshop." the blonde asked as he took a seat on one of the boxes. "My grandfather has always been fastinated with games, he told me in his younger years he use to teach about ancient times and the different games they use to place back then." "That's pretty cool I guess." the blonde said with his arms crossed in deep though. "I guess it doesn't matter what culture or time, games are something we all like to play." Joey continue as Yami took a seat next to him. "You're right, I feel like its because it allow us to put our current problems to the side. Almost backing away from things to rest and regroup." "Well you got a point..." "Well I better get going, before I get yelled at for slacking off." This caused both boys to laugh "Yea your gramps is pretty strict."
Yami waved to the blonde haired boy as he gave the teenager a small smile back with a wave before watching Joey walk down the sidewalk. He closed the door and flipped the sign finally to closed. Walking over to the glass counter Yami grabbed his grandfather's folders and sitting on the couch on the other side of the store. Yami flipped through the content of the folder as his grandfather came in letting out a yawn. "Man what a day, good thing we had that kid to help us out." the older man said before also flapping down on the couch next to his grandson. "huh? Yami why you have the employment flies." "Grandfather did you look at Joey's files earlier." "I glanced at it and since the kid looked so desperated for the job I just gave it to him. Why? Is he really a thug that went to jail and got out." Yami's grandfather joked as he grab the glass of water he left on the table and begin to drinking it. "No, just that he is really a she." Yami said in a calm matter as out of surprise, Yami's grandfather spit his water back out. "No way that 'mean muggin' kid is a girl, give me that." the old man said as he grab the folder from Yami. As he looked over the teen's information, clear as day next to the gender slot it saids Female not male. "You mean I just made a teenage girl lift all those boxes by herself." Mr. Motto said as he could feel guilt already piling onto his old shoulders. "Don't feel bad granpa, I didn't know either until she tripped downstairs. I went up to catch her and I accidently felt her chest." "Oh...I see..." the old man said with a sly grin on his face. "So your internet girlfriend isn't enough so you decided to get a real one. That's my boy, I was starting to wonder if you had interest in girls at all." "Grandpa! That's not it" Yami yelled as his face begin to turn red. "It's ok, you're a teenage boy after all. These type of things are natural." Mr. Motto said not listening to his grandson at this point as he head upstairs. "No I'm serious it really isn't like that!" Yami said getting even more red as he followed his grandfather upstairs.
