MICK DISTRICT 3

It's the last day of training. Tomorrow is dreaded by all the tributes and it is when we enter the arena. Yesterday evening, we had personal evaluations. I scored an 8 by impressing the Game Makers with knife throwing. I guess I was born with that skill because I never did that in 3. At home, I fixed computers and monitors brought to me from the Capital. I always felt comfortable doing that and working with computer stuff, not chucking around sharp metal at human shaped targets. Also yesterday, I went to the plant identifying station where I got to work with a computer, so it made me a bit more comfortable. Man, I want to go home so bad. My district partner, Maxine, hasn't talked to me once. I've only seen her at the dinner table and never seen her in 3 until the Reaping. She is small and quiet like a mouse. She is one year older then me but I am still taller and stronger. She got a 4 in personal and I kind of feel bad for her. She will never make it. I don't want any alliances anyway because of the whole trust thing and I don't want someone betraying me. My mind is full of this stuff as I tie on my right shoe in the fancy elevator with transparent walls. When the doors open, I'm the only one in the room. I think of what to do because I'm the first here. I go to the treadmills because those fill fast. As I walk, I think there hasn't been any fights yet but this unusual serenity can't last forever...

CHAMOMILE DISTRICT 11

"Come on! Hurry up, we are going to be late Colbi," I yell at my brother as I pull on a hoodie my escort left me.

"I'm coming, i'm coming. It's only 8:00 AM."

"I know, and the training room opened at 7:30," I reply as I jog toward the door.

"For a younger sister, you have an attitude of an adult and impatience of a baby."

I give my brother a dirty look. He laughs and we walk out the door. Only a couple days ago, my brother volunteered for another 12 year old boy to come with me into the Hunger Games. We have both accepted that one of us is going to die, but we are going to stick together until the end. We are hoping for many sponsors like when Cashmere and Gloss, legendary victors, won back to back games and became celebrities in the Capital. I look back at Colbi, and actually really look at him. I guess that I'm his sister and I don't notice much, but he has changed since we arrived. He is taller and more muscular on the arms and he had his black long hair buzzed into a short Mohawk. Honestly, he looks different to me and probably amazingly handsome for girls in the Capital. Now I realize, we will get many sponsors. I, on the other hand, am 5.2 and have long black straight hair. A similarity Colbi and I have is that we are both on the tanner side and that's about it.

We arrive in the training room and surprised to only see about 8 tributes there. They are all spread about, some in weapons, others in survival.

"Colbi, I'm going to the spears."

"Ok, I'm going to try the obstacle course."

"I'll meet you at lunch, ok?"

"Ok, love you."

"Love you too." I really don't want to lose him. I mean come on, he's my brother. I shake that thought off and walk over to the spears. I go and reach for one when Shannon from 1 comes over and shoves me out of the way and takes the one that I had.

"Hey! What was that?"

"Oh, I'm just training for how I'm going to get weapons in the games." She snickers and turns.

I find the nearest thing that is padded and walk over to her and whack her in the arm. She drops the spear and starts calling me words I don't want to repeat. I ignore her and bend down to take the spear. She knees me in the jaw and takes the spear. It just felt like someone set fire to my jaw. I try to ignore the pain and I get up and tackle Shannon. We are wrestling on the ground until three of the trainers come and separate us. Before they have full control, Shannon comes and punches me in the face and gut. I collapse and clutch my abdomen and hold my face. "You're dead, Chamomile. I mean it!" I ignore her and close my eyes. I want this all to be a dream, everything. But it's not.

I wake up in a comfy chair in the corner of the training room in a small separate room that looks like a closet. I have an ice pack on my face, covering the bruise on my cheek and jaw. But, I guess you can't do anything for a stomach ache. Colbi is next to me tying a knot.

"Hey you're awake."

"Yeah. Did you see it?"

"No, but once I heard that girl shout your name, I ran over."

"Thanks for caring about me so much."

"I'll care about you today, tomorrow, and whatever comes after this life on Earth. I'll always be there for you. I love you."

"I love you too." I say as I fall into another sleep from all the pills and medicine.

FORD DISRICT 6

I walk over to have lunch with my new friend and ally, Tristan from District 5. She is 15 and I am sixteen. We have a lot in common. We got 7's in our personal evaluations and we were both hunters back home. We have some strategies for the games and it involves never leaving each other and having each other's backs in the hardest situations.

"Ford, what was your family like?"

"My family? I try not to think about them, but I lived with my grandmother, mom, dad, and younger brother. He is only 3 and the cutest little thing, and he probably won't remember me. My worst fear is that he will be in the same situation as me someday." I say as I bite into a sandwich.

"Oh, I feel sorry for you. I lived with my mom and older sister who is 19 and not eligible to be in the games anymore. The last thing she said to me was that she would've volunteered," Tristan says as she pulls back her shoulder length brown hair. She is beautiful.

I look at her and she looks at me and we have an electrifying moment that we both won't forget. I put my hand on top of hers and she lets it stay there. I want her and I know it can't be if we have to kill each other soon.

LAUREN DISTRICT 9

I am a meal to the Careers, and I know it. I scored a 4 in personal evaluations and I'm embarrassed about that. My stylist was too and Kolt looked at me with this confused face. I honestly don't like him. He scored a 9 and is now showing that off in the obstacle course. He runs and dodges all the traps. He gets applause from the trainer once he finishes. I need to do that. I need to show everyone that I'm not a puny 13 year old.

I jog to the knife station and wait until Shannon finishes her round. She seems angry for some reason and I'm not sure why. I just arrived so I haven't paid attention to what happened earlier. Once it's my turn, Ashlar from 2 stares at me. I look back at him.

"What are you waiting for? Show me what you got," he says. I know he knows I received a four. I don't reply to him and start throwing. I throw two with my right hand, one left, and one using both hands. 1/4 hit the bulls eye and the other three were near the edge. That was bad. I see Ashlar shake his head, turn and walk off. Oh, that's just great. I go over and try the obstacle course. I set off three traps and I was doing the one with a partner. I was with Andrew from seven and I went first so when I set off the trap, he received the blow. I told him I was sorry at the end but he just shrugged and walked off, just like Ashlar. Now I am just making myself look like a fool and an easy target. I don't disagree. I looked at the top times of the obstacle course. Kolbi from 11 is in first, Kolt is in second, and Gentry from one is in third. I look down to the bottom. There in place 24th; Lauren Kinep: 9
