Chapter 6"Dirt"
"Did you get any intel on Mercer Luxury?" Morrison asked over the phone.
Marica paused, "No. Jerry wasn't at dinner last night so I didn't get a chance to…"
"Listen Alvarez…The only reason you're getting a second chance with this agency is because you have a legitimate connection to an asset. If bonding with your half-sister and getting to know her boyfriend's family is getting in the way then we can send Madison."
Marica heard a creak down the hall, but wasn't sure if Krystal had made it home from last night. She spoke more quietly into the phone, "There's no need to send Madison. I don't need much more time to complete this. I'm already fully integrated if you can recall. After tonight's dinner I found the perfect way to execute this.
"We have sent the other two key players in to place, so you only have another week or so before it all goes down. I hope so for your sake things run smoothly. After the last mission you're lucky you've been given a second chance. Don't let this end up like the last time," Morrison warned right before ending the call.
Marcia curled up in her bed. She laid awake replaying Morrison's words. She had completely botched her last mission and at the cost of someone's life, Alex's life. She thought she had everything under control because she had never disappointed the department before, but she made the mistake of letting personal feelings get in the way of business.
Mercer House-
"Jack!" Bobby yelled from the kitchen, "Come get breakfast."
Jack forgot that Krystal fell asleep with him last night so when he turned over to get up he crushed her.
"Owww," Krystal howled as Jack's body struggled to get up from the tiny bed.
"I'm sorry babe, I forgot you were there," Jack said sleepily as he stumbled over his guitar case and cans of beer that lay crushed up all over his bedroom floor. Krystal sighed heavily and retreated to the bathroom down the hall. Once Jack got his bearings, he followed her.
"I can't do this anymore Jack," Krystal yelled as she watched Jack lift the toilet seat and unzip his pants.
"Do what babe?"
"Sleep on a twin bed!" Krystal covered her eyes as Jack wiggled his jeans down off his waist. "Are you serious? You're just gunna pee with me standin' here?"
All you could hear was the sound of Jack urinating, "What's the big deal? I'm up before noon, what more do you want from me woman?"
Krystal left the bathroom infuriated by Jack's nonchalance.
"God, I need a cigarette, "Jack wined as he pulled his jeans back up.
Downstairs Krystal entered the kitchen where Bobby, Angel and Sofi sat eating breakfast.
"Come sit, there's plenty," Angel said as he shoveled a whole stack of syrup drenched pancakes into his mouth. Sofi smacked his arm for talking with his mouth full and getting syrup all over the tablecloth.
Krystal hesitated, "I'm going home. Can you just tell Jack to call me later 'cause I just can't wit' him right now."
Bobby put down his fork, "What he do? Want me to go up there and fuck him up?"
She scoffed, "I'll deal wit' his ass later. Bye."
Krystal walked out of the Mercer house and down the street back to her place. She ran up the stairs and called her sister's name, "Marcy?"
Marcy sat up on her bed, "I'm in here."
Krystal opened her door slowly and smiled, "I'm sorry I didn't check in last night. I fell asleep with Jack, but don't worry, nothin' happened."
Marcia smiled, "It's ok, and you're an adult. You don't have to report back to me. It's none of my business what you and Jack do. Just be careful of course!"
Krystal was grateful that her older sister didn't try and come in to play the role of their mother. If she did, that would have severely strained their relationships as sisters. Marcia had already been living with her a month and she was surprisingly comfortable having her around; even though Marcia had told her that her living at Krystal's father's house wouldn't be permanent.
"I have to be at work in an hour," Krystal told her sister.
"Me too actually, I'm going to be late if I don't hurry."
Both women got dressed and headed out the door. As Marcia got into her brand new Mercedes, which was a company perk, she dialed Morrison via Bluetooth.
"Are you in the office yet?"
Marcia sighed, "I'm pulling out of the driveway now. Have the buyers made contact yet?"
"Negative. I just got word that there's a delay in the shipment. You'll just have to hang tight until I get the go ahead. In the meantime, I want that financial report and it needs to be broken down to the penny, understood."
"I got it, don't worry. I'll upload it by 5p.m," she hung up with Morrison then sped down the street.
Mercer Luxury-
"Well when will they get here?... What do you mean you don't know?... Well why are we still having this conversation then? Call me back when you have something for me," Jerry said angrily into a cell phone.
Marcia was waiting outside of the door and waited until his conversation was over to knock.
*Knock knock*
Jerry looked up startled, "Come in."
"I was just going over last years' quarterly reports and I noticed some discrepancies Mr. Mercer," Marcia said confoundedly.
Jerry motioned for her to hand him the reports, "Everything seems in order. My pervious advisor, before resigning, stated that everything looked copasetic."
Marcia took a step forward, "With all due respect sir, I don't agree with your pervious advisor's findings. If you were to be audited, let's say, I would have a hard time proving..."
Jerry interrupted before Marcia could finish, "I trust your judgment. If you think there's a need to revisit old records then I will make sure you have all the access you need. By the time you get back to your desk, all the files will be available to you."
Marcia nodded in content, "Thank you Mr. Mercer," she stated as she made her way to her desk.
Once she got back to her office, Marcia heard the notifications of incoming messages from her computer. She pulled out her cell and whispered, " I got them."
Mercer House-
"Jack! Jack!" Krystal yelled as she threw her heavy knock off Chanel bag down on Bobby who was watching a boxing match in the living room.
"Whoa whoa, Canal Street! He ain't even home. How you gunna come in here yellin' like that?" Bobby yelled as he tried to clean up some beer off his lap after the impact of Krystal's purse caused his drink to spill.
Krystal didn't pay any attention to Bobby, she was still upset with Jack from this morning and he hadn't bothered to call her all day, even though she was at work.
"Where is he and when will he be back?"
Bobby shrugged and smiled, "I dunno. He's probably out smoking 10 packs of cigarettes."
"That's not even funny Bobby. He shouldn't be smokin'. It's gross and bad for his health."
"Jackie's a big boy and he likes his cigarettes. He's been cranky lately since you cut off his penis," Bobby chuckled to himself.
Krystal grabbed her purse and swung it at Bobby, "Just tell him to call me, please. It's important."
