'OK, so you need to identify the bones that make up the hand'
'Why?' he moaned, his head on the desk, it had been an hour of her telling him what he should already know for biology
'Because then you can understand the importance of opposable thumbs'
'They help pick up things and text people' Booth groaned.
Temperance snorted, he could be so frustrating sometimes.
BONES/BONES/
'Bones!...sorry Temperance, stop walking' he dashed after her 'slow down'
'Booth, leave me alone' she muttered, shoving past the kids crowded around Jack Hodgins' locker as he showed them his latest spider captive. An amazon tarantula, she had been informed by the boasting boy.
'Come on, talk to me' he grabbed her arm to stop her, she swung around and wacked him in the chest
'Whoah, you pack a punch Bones' he smiled letting her go. She turned on her heels and stormed out of the A block corridor. Booth groaned then pelted after her.
He caught up to her as she walked over the oval towards the labs.
'Temperance', his voice was caring
'What?' she snapped clutching her huge folder to her chest as she continued to march towards her sanctuary.
'Stop and talk to me' he was walking beside her, his hands wrapped around the straps of his backpack, pulling his shoulders down.
'Why?'
'Because I'm your friend' Booth said turning so that he was walking backwards, facing her.
'I don't have friends Booth' she said in a matter of fact tone.
'You have me…' he said looking at her. She'd left her pen splintered through her ponytail, and her earrings were of amber with small bugs captured within.
'What do you want?' She muttered, he was walking in front of her, blocking her from the labs. As he walked backwards she noticed how the light caught his hair and how he was actually looking at her, not above her head or at the cheerleaders over near the goal post.
'I wanted to see if you were ok…' he said sheepishly
'Why wouldn't I be? I am in excellent health and my dental checkup proves that…though teeth are part of health, but you would know that if you studied more Booth'
He shook his head and said
'Well from what I just heard as I walked past the girls toilets, you just got a brutal earful from Stacy and her posy'
'Your point being?' she gave him a blank expression
'Well are you ok? Most girls would be sobbing…or throwing punches at them…well you did punch me…' he was starting to trail off like he did in their study sessions.
'Booth, I'm fine' she gave a tight smile and pushed past him, breathing in the comforting air of the lab as the door closed behind her.
BONES/BONES/
'Right, so if I move three to B that will line everything up…right?'
'Correct' she smiled. It had been two months of tutoring and to her utter surprise Temperance was actually enjoying spending time with Booth. Even though he went off on tangents about basketball and other unimportant sports. She was leaning against the table as he sat doing a complex math's equation.
'Finally!' he held his hand up to her; she looked blankly at it 'you're meant to high-five me…'
'Why?' she asked, he groaned. He grabbed her arm with his spare her hand and high-fived his raised one. 'You just do'
'Fine' she high-fived him again and he laughed. She liked his laugh; it accented his well-formed cheek bones.
'Hey, do you want to come to my friend Angela's party on the weekend?'
'Why? We can't study there' she blinked, Booth laughed
'I hope not! No, to have fun…you know fun right?' he looked at her.
'Of course I do, but my new dissection kit doesn't arrive until next week…' she trailed off at the look on his face.
'Bon…Temperance, there are other fun things to do besides dissect animals'
'Of course there are, for example, I'll be going to a lecture by Doctor Tate at the Jeffersonian next month. It will be thrilling'
Booth groaned, he turned in his seat so that his right knee lent gently on the back of her left leg.
'Not even that, I'm meaning teenage stuff…like dancing and parties…having a good time with friends'
'I'm only friends with you, so that wouldn't be a party' She said looking at him, Booth had to bite his tongue not to say the reply that came to mind.
'Well you can meet some new friends then, look just come. It could be fun'
'Fine' she sighed; she wasn't really sure why she was saying yes. But she liked the idea of spending time with Booth
'Great, I'll pick you up about 7?'
'Sure, but I'll be at the library'
'What about getting changed?'
'Changed?' she looked confused
'You know…girls like to dress up and they take forever doing it?' He chuckled
'Not me…won't my school uniform do?' Booth almost fell off his chair laughing 'is that a no?'
