The Next Chapter...Sephiroth Kingdom
Chapter 7
POV Van
Everything seemed to slow when the declaration echoed in my ears. "DIE!"
I carefully placed Legretta onto the smooth surface of the ground and tightly grasped the hilt of my sword. I poised myself to draw my sword when the most opportune time presented itself. These soldier were fools to think they could take me even if they had their numbers. They charged. I dodged. And with each evasion I sent a slice through the ironclad mens abdomen. I shivered. Not from the cold, but from the sweet pulse of adrenaline and their blood. The blood of traitors laid itself on his clothes, a canvas of justice.
All three of them gave an agonizing cry while clutching their injuries in an attempt to stop the blood from escaping their bodies. In one fell swoop, I finished them off and turned to the remaining rebels sporting a sadistic grin. They shuffled back, eyes darting from one soldier to the other. It fell silent as the flames crackled, raging behind him like a hungry beast. And then a sharp breath in the dead of silence was heard. I laughed. This fight, this moment of justice, I wasn't going to lie to myself, I was thoroughly enjoying putting these useless beings into their places.
And I wasn't done yet. More. They deserved more for their treachery. I called forth energy, powerful and magnetizing into my body and transferred it onto the ground. The energy became magic and the magic formed fonic glyphs under my feet. More screams. Running. It was futile. Bringing my free hand up to eye level, I clenched it into a fist and bellowed "Holy Lance!"
The fonic glyph followed and snapped below the enemies feet. It glowed brilliantly as five lances made from the light element fonons appeared and aimed for the forces now trapped within the circle. With a swift motion of my arm the lances propelled themselves stabbing the soldiers through their chests. Death. Blood. The artes vanished and the clustering sound of iron dropping to the ground with a deafening thud was heard. I felt a chuckle well up within my chest. They were all so weak, like rag dolls and puppies, and it took no effort to decimate the rebel force's squad of six. They were truly... pitiful. I took a few steps towards a fallen soldier and nudged him with the tip of my boot.
"Fool." I scoffed
My eyes slid lazily onto Legretta who was on the ground just a few feet away, just as defenseless now as the rebels forces. She was still out cold. He sighed and sheathed his sword. How long is that woman going to sleep?
POV Legretta
"Le-ta." A faint voice was whispering to her. It had sounded oddly familiar.
"Le-etta." It had tried to call once again from the dark abyss. It had felt warm.
"Legretta, Legreatta awaken!" The voice echoed within my dream. Startled by the voice, I jerked awake thrusting myself upright from my resting place. I clutched my ribs as I felt a sudden burst of pain from my sudden awakening.
"You shouldn't move so suddenly. Your ribs are fractured, Legretta. Or should I say Sephiroth Guardian?"
…
…
…
He knew.
Or did he? I may be able to play this off….. or not. I looked down at my state of dress to see my usual Order uniform was replaced by a large white t-shirt. My face flushed cherry red as the dots connected within my mind. He saw everything. My commanding officer had not only changed my clothes, but saw my birthright.
"My ribs are fractured? What happened?" I questioned to play off the situation. Possibly, maybe, I wasn't sure, but...I hope my voice wasn't coming out as shaky as it felt.
"I know you heard me Legretta. Don't make me say it again." Van growled menacingly.
Well, that didn't work.
"You're a Sephiroth Guardian. Tell. me. everything. you. know." Van said darkly drawing closer as he punctuated each word. "Now."
My brain ceased to function and sole reflex took over as I moved my hands feeling for my fontech guns. Not being able to feel them I looked down to try and see if I could spot them only to hear a chuckle followed by the familiar click of my favored weapon.
"Looking for this?" He taunted, smirking. "I had trouble finding all of your weapons. I never knew you kept an armory on hand at all times. It's a bit inconvenient, Don't you think?"
"As your Major, I thought you would expect me to be prepared for any circumstance."
He stared at me blankly as he gestured to the table behind him. It was riddled with all of my weapons. My knives, spare guns, throwing needles, and consolable staff were all laid out for all to see. The shear amount of them all would make you question where I hid them. The answer is very carefully.
"Still, I think it's a bit excessive." He spoke while examining my fontech gun. "Back to the matter at hand. What do you know?"
I had thought I was in the clear. Oh, how wrong I was. This man was like a child on Christmas morning with only his mind on the gifts. He kept going back to his original point. Why couldn't he be like a normal man and easily forget things when diverted to a new topic?
"What happens when I refuse to say?" I goad trying gauge his patience.
"We resume what we were discussing earlier, before the explosion. You learning your place."
His authoritative gaze tried to pierce through me. In return, I challenged him with my own glare.
"I would hate to be redundant, but I fully know my place." I reminded keeping a stoic expression. If my mother had taught me one thing it was to never allow your challenger read you. I needed to be two or more steps ahead of him. I knew more than him at this point; it should bode well for me.
"You may think you know your place, but you are clearly mistaken." Van stated knowingly, "I am your superior. You are to be at my beck and call, no questions asked, and you are to never disobey my commands. Recently you have been questioning everything I act upon. Not only that, but now I find you hiding something very important from me."
I rolled my eyes at the beginning of his monologue. Why do people who have the upper hand monologue? It's a pointless waste of breath that leaves them open. This may be a great opportunity to get some of my weapons back. Van continued with his lecture on being a perfect subordinate, so I took the opportunity to contact my spirit. She had contacted me within my dream earlier, but I was too deeply within my unconsciousness to recognize her. I stretched out the tendrils of my mind to connect to her psyche.
"Light, I need your assistance."
"I was wondering when you were going to respond. I contacted you a while ago." the light sephiroth spirit responded telepathically. "What do you need?"
"Since you can't be seen by others unless you deem. I was hoping you would be willing retrieve my gun for me. It's behind my captor on the table presently." I requested.
"Of course, but you owe me for this. I told you not to trust him, and look where you are now." Light said using the I told you tone.
"Yes, I understand. Now please." I pleaded, "He's almost finished with his monologue."
After my plea I watched as the light elemental fox spirit appeared behind Van and studied the weapons on the table. Light's movements were graceful and lithe as she maneuvered about the table towards the fontech gun. Light grasped the gun between her teeth and used the fonic ability flash to move the gun under the covers into my hidden hand. When Light's task was complete she diffused into the air disappearing from my sight. I held the gun in my hand enjoying the smooth surface against my palm.
"Legretta, are you listening?" Van interrogated, "Because, you should be."
I took the moment to whisper the words "Lau twe va lui" causing a blinding light to flash blinding Van making him cover his eyes. While he was preoccupied, I rushed over to the table grabbed the nearest knife, and spun around using the balls of my feet as a pivot to blocking an incoming slash from Van's sword. I strained against his blade to keep the blades locked. I then raised my gun to his face, and pistol whipped him. Van fell to the ground, his sword skid across the floor a few feet from him. I may have used a little more force than intended into the pistol whip, but he deserved it no matter how much I may have cared for him.
I smirked "Now that our roles are reversed, I'll take you to my kingdom, but we'll be going on my terms."
