A/N Finally decided to pick up this story and again and write out my ideas, sorry if I do really bad as I mix the mythologies of Arda and Greece. But hey I'm not getting paid for this so... Enjoy as Tolkien turns in his grave and Riordan feels a terrible chill up his spine.

In the vastness of Eä Erú Ilùvater sits among the vastness of time and space to harken to the Song his first creations, the Ainur, sing. Their song was and is, and shall be until the Dagor Dagorath, fate to all things under the dominion of the One. Expect for the race of men, for his Gift to the race of men was that they would be free from Fate; and given the drive and ability to seek beyond the Circles of the World, of any world. Yet, on one world, this was not the case. Far from Arda, across the vast expanse of Eä, sat a blue sphere inhabited by beings great and fell, where Ainur had descended upon it and proclaimed themselves Titans amongst the Ataní, higher than Erú. It was a heresy of a great order, but far worse was that the Gift was withheld, the Gift was bound by the work of the Three Sisters of Fate who wove fate in mockery of the Music. Long ago Twelve great Ainur, as well as several scores of Maia came upon the world known as Earth, and they fought the Titans who were known servants of Morgoth, or Melkor as he was known in those days. The Twelve were victorious, but in the end found themselves corrupted by the world and the Fates that had been woven about it. And in the time before, The Halls of Hades were built high and in terror, trapping the souls of Men from the Beyond.

Yet the Twelve remained faithful to Erú, and even as they became more like the race of men they shepherded in thought and deed, they did not forget who was their master. Little was he spoken of amongst these Olympians, especially among their illegitimate children. It grew to the point where few beyond the central Greek gods even heard the name Erú and fewer still knew the true origins of all the gods. Yet still the truth of the matter was present, and as Erú gazed upon this world amidst the Song and the Stars he turned to change. Few were times when Erú took action, the Sundering of Numenor, the Beginning of the New Theme, each time and deed was great and all shaping of the the creation of all things. So the One raised from his seat and called as the harken to his words. And spoke onto the masses.

Lo! Long have I watched and gazed upon the Earth!

Long have I seen the Gift I have given withheld!

This shall be no more! For the Gift is the tool with which the Ataní shall do my will!

For this I shall send upon the Earth instruments of change, for unto the end of All things

Death is the Gift, but it is also the Freedom, no more shall the Freedom be taken!

And then the space and vastness began to shake and shift, as Ilúvater once more rested upon his throne the worlds powers moved and groaned. There was a great rumbling and power and the shockwaves tore through space and time. Across universes and galaxies and endless realities the power of time and space was wrenched and rent to the will of the Creator. Bells rang and the ground shook on a thousand worlds. Wise men and mystics felt power and fury spread through the force that binds creation to order and sanity and knew that change was upon somewhere, though few would ever know more. The power of the One was felt throughout by all divinities and deities as nature and order bent to the whims of And in the halls of Manwë in Valinor, the greatest among the Valar was stirred when he heard the word. Clear from the mind of Erú.

Gift

For unlike his brothers and sister Manwë knew of Earth me its troubles and toil, but he was forbidden to interfere with the world, even as the greatest of heresies was being perpetrated. He smiled a small thing and breathed his deepest, as he knew that change would be wrought upon the world of his brother Jütar, who was known to that world was Zeus.

In the Halls of the Olympians above the clouds, high above New York, a great clamor and panic was about. A whisper was heard, a whisper of Ilùvater, and but few knew the real word. The word of the Creator was law and sentence and the minor gods and goddesses were in a panic trying to decide the word and after that what it could mean. But in the hall of the major twelve there was no confusion of what the word was. Gift it was spoken, the Gift of Men. Zeus called a council and one by one the Olympians filled in. It was then thought that a great rule was broken a great chance was taken. Invited to this council against precedent and old law was Hades, god of the Underworld. For his domain was that of the prison that was erected for the souls of men, and while he was in the end a servant of Erú, even he could not break the power of the Fates and the land that was given to him.

The chamber was silent for some time before any word was spoken. A decree of the One had been heard, but what it would mean for the Gods was unclear. There was much strife and turmoil between the parties as to what it meant. Was there to be punishment? Was this foretelling the soon coming of the Dagor Dagorath? It was all chaos and raised voices and flared tempers until Athena called the gods to order.

"It is the time we knew would arise." The Grey-Eyed goddess spoke clearly and thoughtfully, "Erú has declared the Gift shall be returned to his Children, and the time of the Fates shall come to an end."

"But why now of all times?" Asked Apollo, "We've already got enough going one with the Prophecy!"

"Don't you understand?" Hephaestus interjected, his burly smith hands trembling as he did so, "This changes everything! If He has decided to bring back the Gift then nothing, not even the Prophecy is certain!"

"It's not as simple as that is it?" Wondered Apollo, whose domain of prophecy relied on the power of the fates.

"Nothing was certain with the Prophecy anymore." Spoke Hades bitterly, "What with your daughter being released from that tree brother."

"Yes, yes you're the only one who hasn't broken the Pact, and can we get back into the real matter here?" droned Dionysus

"What's the matter daughter-snatcher?" Demeter sneered, "Afraid that the time of your kingdom's demise is at hand? You know as well as anyone here that your realm itself is a prison more than anything! The souls of mortal Men aren't meant to stay bound to the earth!"

"Do not dare to question my loyalty to Erú, sister. I fought Melkor's servants the same as others! In fact I think my realm could do well with letting souls leave. Erú knows I could use less dead to process." Hades said with an eerie calm that sent chills up even Apollo's spine.

"So we wait then? Wait for this worlds binding piece is torn asunder?" Hera pondered bluntly, she

"But you forget dear sister, even if the Fates are broken, we would still be bound to the Music and to this world. That was what we all agreed upon when we descended into this realm." Poseidon reminded, as he also was there at the beginning, singing beside Manwë and Ulmo.

"Then what does that mean for our children?" interjected Hermes, whose mortal progeny were many, "If the Fates are to be sundered then..."

"They would be bound to the Earth I believe, like ourselves and the Eldar." Athena suggested

"But they are mortal after all, perhaps they would be given the choice of the the half-elven?" Offered Apollo.

"We'll have no way of knowing what will happen, even if it does happen. There's still the issue of..."

"Enough!" Zeus commanded, growing weary of the conversation and bickering and somewhat in denial of what was happening, "There's nothing to be done! The One will make his will known and I'll have no more talk about the Titans either! My father is gone and that is my word! We will watch and wait to see what unfolds, and whether or not the Fates themselves will be undone."

With that the meeting was ended among the Gods and with little to nothing accomplished. The god of wine went back to his punishment in New York, while Artemis left on a journey to that would set many things in motion. Yet the story that follows is very different than the one first weaved by the Fates. For while the Fates had sown much, and much was decided long ago, Fate and destiny were being shifted and changed already as greater forces than the three sisters moved and worked in Eä. In time all things work toward the will of Ilúvatar, and in the end all will be called to the final battle against Morgoth and his servants, but in that day was made final that in this world; among these gods and goddesses change was coming.

A/N So... Tell me what you think in a review, and if any are interested I would like a Beta to help me write this...
